Bad coaching, Ruining a kid's love for a sport Are coaches killing childrens love for sports? Coaches play a large role in how a kid views and plays a sport. It all depends in what type of coach they are, they could be a good and positive coach for the child or they could be a bad coach which is a huge negative towards the children. For example, a good coach would keep his/her voice low after a mistake made by a player and tell him/her what they did wrong. A bad coach on the other hand would stand up and yell at the kids singling him/her out and telling that player they suck. Kids could quit a sport they’ve loved forever because of how their coaches handle them and the game. Coaching happens all over the world and for all sports and at any age. With coaching being everywhere there will be bad coaches. One instance was when coach Raul Aragon got frustrated with an umpire at a baseball game and was thrown out. He than chased the umpire around until police arrived, he was coach of an 8 year old baseball team. Another experience with a bad coach is when Kevin Pope, an assistant football coach, was pointing a bb gun at a player for having bad grades. The biggest difference between good coaches and bad coaches is how they influence and handle a their players. A good coach can push a kids out of their comfort zone to make him/her play better. Good coaches also make the players a better person in society and help them gain confidence. A good coach is a fair coach who sees all of his athletes as equals even when some athletes are superior to others. A bad coach does the opposite of what good coaches. They have a negative effect on the children they coach. Bad coaches can make practice a hostile environment pushing the kids to their mental and physical limit. Bad coaches also cut down their players confidence rather than build it
