Allowing to see if based on what I read in Romeo & Juliet, are they really in love. The tragic Romance of Romeo and Juliet is to believe by the examples of love or trust. To ask yourself, “Are Romeo and juliet really in love?” But do you guys notice that shakespeare asks “Was there ever a more tragic love than of this Romeo and Juliet?” I ask myself, “Are Romeo and Juliet really in love?” If they were to be in love, this question would not have been answered. But they don't have any real love between but that short term passion. Romeo is whining about love, but really he's just mad that Rosaline won't sleep with him. In my opinion When he meets Juliet, he doesn’t fall instantly in love, he sees someone he thinks he can have sex with. He uses
However, at the party he meets Juliet for the first time, and immediately falls in love with her: “Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight! / For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.” Romeo, who was in love with Rosaline until a moment ago, completely forgets about her and is now all focused on Juliet. But what is very surprising is not the fact that he is in love with his enemy’s daughter, the astonishing thing is the speed at which he falls in love with her. Soon, in fact, he and Juliet kiss each other: “Thus from my lips, by yours, my sin is purged.” However, Romeo’s characteristics to love so deeply Juliet is just a symbol of his lacking the capacity of moderation for intense feelings of all kind. Had Romeo stopped himself from being so deeply caught up by Juliet’s beauty, the tragedy would have never happened.
As soon as Romeo and Juliet met they fell instantly in love, for some this maybe true-love as for others it is not and is only emotionally charged. When someone is in love they know almost everything about the other person, for instance their likes, dislikes, and hobbies. Romeo and Juliet maybe say they're in love, but their love is not true. These two “star-crossed lovers” are not in true love because they took attraction as a sign of love, used this love to escape a broken heart, and to avoid an unwanted marriage. When the two met at the Capulet thrown party their eyes met and it was instant love.
Romeo is portrayed as an emotional and reckless character. His friend Mercutio and Fr. Lawrence comment on Romeo’s fickle attitude when he immediately falls in love with Juliet completely forgetting about Rosaline, his first love. Romeo quotes,” Did my heart love until now? Foreswear it sight, for I never saw true beauty until this night”. His love for Rosaline was superficial. Juliet transforms Romeo’s immature and erotic infatuation to true and constant love. After meeting Juliet he matures very quickly. Maybe Romeo’s love for Juliet is so intense because unlike Rosaline, Juliet reciprocates his
Romeo labels his feelings towards Juliet as “love”, although he has not gotten the opportunity to learn about her personality. This indicates that what he feels about her was entirely formed by her physical beauty rather than genuine feelings. Evidently, sexual desires seemed to be his ulterior motive for marrying her, instead of committing to love, care, and cherish her till death do them apart.
Romeo and Juliet are not in love they are just in lust because their main concern in the relationship is having intercourse. When they get married Juliet only thinks about when he is going to come and have intercourse with her. “I wish the sun would hurry up and set and night would come immediately. When the night comes and everyone goes to sleep, Romeo will leap into my arms, and no one will know. Beauty makes it possible for lovers to see how to make love in the dark” (III.ii.1-6). In general, if your main concern in a relationship is having intercourse, you are not in love. For example teenagers who date each other just to have intercourse, are likely to not love each other because they went into the relationship to have intercourse instead of looking for someone they actually love. Therefore since, Romeo and Juliet's main concern is having intercourse Romeo and Juliet are not in love.
The play Romeo and Juliet has been considered to be the most touching love story of all time, but when you look closer and past all the initial “fantasies”, you see the truth. Romeo and Juliet believed that they were in love because of the mere idea of it, however based on their actions and the short amount of time that the stages of their “love” progressed in, it soon became clear that what they were actually feeling was infatuation.
From the beginning of the play, it is a palpable declaration that Romeo is a dreadfully passionate being. In Act I, Romeo is in an excessively depressive element as a consequence to succumbing to love with an elusive woman named Rosaline. Amidst a tirade, Romeo divulges how he felt somber due to love or, perhaps, in his case lack thereof. Furthermore, how attitudes on love have the ability to dismantle one into immeasurable distraught and perturb them to no end. In reaction to Rosalind’s denial to love,
The tragic romance of Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, is believed by many to be the greatest example of love in The english language. But do those believers truly understand the distinction between love and infatuation or lust? If Romeo and Juliet were truly in love like people believe then to be then why is their an abundance of evidence throughout the play to suggest that the only emotion they felt was just lust for each other. Shakespeare himself asked " Was their ever a more tragic love, then of this Romeo and Juliet?" If Romeo and Juliet were actually in love then this question shouldn't need to be answered since their was nothing more between them then lust, which is a reason why this play is considered a tragedy. But what is the
Romeo and Juliet was a play written by william Shakespeare. This play is very romantic, but also very dramatic. Romeo was not in love with Juliet. Many argue if this is true or not. Romeo and Juliet got married within the first day of meeting, Romeo said the same day he met Juliet, that he loved Rosilane and would never love another women. Whether this is true or not can be argued back and forth. The argument could go on for hours on end and would end with no real answer. People say that Romeo was not in love with Juliet. This paper is going to show the reader that Romeo truly did not love Juliet as much it seemed.
When Romeo was talking about Rosaline in the beginning he mentioned that she didn’t want to have intercourse. He seemed to care a little too much about it. Someone who loves someone else doesn’t care whether they will have sex with them or not. This means that he didn’t even actually love Rosaline, that he just wanted sex. Which was also basically the same thing he did with Juliet.
I tend to agree with Green's implication that the youthfulness of Romeo and Juliet and the speed with which they fall in love and die serves as a metaphor for how it is often the unjaded and idealistic who try (and succeed) in challenging societies and institutions. And yes, along the way, those innocent, unjaded, idealistic souls end up getting sacrificed in order for the institutions to take notice. Much of Shakespeare's work serves as commentary on various aspects of society as a whole. So the real question, then, isn't "Were Romeo and Juliet really in love?" but "What can society learn from their behavior?" Because it's not about love, really. It's about how an inflexible, suppressive society can lead to bad things. This perspective
In Shakespeare's famous play “Romeo and Juliet”, two kids around the age of 14 fall “in love” with each other, despite the fact that their families are enemies. This love that they feel drives them to do insane things, such as commit suicide for each other. Was this feeling really love, though? People can have many opinions on whether or not Romeo and Juliet were really in love. Romeo and Juliet were not actually in love because they were too young and immature, they had only been together for a few days, and Juliet’s family was an influence.
Romeo is depicted as a classic sex wanting teenager. While Juliet is new to the world of men from being locked in her room most of her life by her father to avoid losing her "purity." And before Romeo met Juliet, he was after a different girl named Rosaline, who took a vow of chastity and didn't want to have sex Romeo. And Romeo thinks he's in love with Rosaline, giving a long harangue on his "love" then quickly mentioning her chastity and that he won't have sex. And look how quickly he falls in "love" Juliet after just glancing her at a party then walking over and kissing her twice. "Thus from my lips, by thing, my sin is purged" *kisses her twice* And quickly after that they're secretly married and when they finally have sex, Romeo tries to secretly forsake as if it's a one night stand. And maybe he loves her at the end, choosing to kill himself rather than live without
