Are Students Successful After School

Envision yourself waking up at 5 a.m, getting to school at 6:30 a.m, eat breakfast at school and go to class for an hour and a half. You repeat this every time until you graduate. Moreover, you stay in after-school programs for the rest of the week. You probably can’t even imagine yourself doing this on a daily basis. Nevertheless, in order to increase student success at Anaheim Schools, more time during school will help improve students’ learning. According to Malcolm Gladwell’s research article, “Marita’s Bargain” state's, “...children went to school and public school was comprehensive, meaning that all children got enough schooling to learn how to read and do basic arithmetic function as productive citizens” (5). This backs up my argument because these children are pushed to be at school more time so they can learn and be successful. We complain about staying at school longer while these children are kind of forced to stay in school. Many of these kids don’t go home until seven in, which can result in having problems with their parents. At Anaheim Schools, yes there are students who stay until seven or eleven due to programs that they are in, but they do this every day. It is a routine for them to do.
You are in class ready to hear the teacher lecture. She goes over of what she taught yesterday. The teacher asks does everyone get it. Some students say yes while others say no. You are the student who has a growth mindset. A growth mindset is someone who believes that their basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. At Anaheim Schools, student success can be increased by helping students expand their growth mindset.
