Are we becoming lazy? Technology makes life less physically demanding. You are never without the safety net of technology; it provides you with directions, keeps you organized and allows you to communicate and connect with people internationally. Not only does the advancement of technology keep you in the loop, but it has thrown patience and focus to the wind. Technology can be beneficial to society, but it comes at human costs such as our dependence, isolation, and etiquette. Wendell Berry’s excerpt from “What are People For?” states that the progression of technology can’t be because it is necessary for family, community, and life; that it is because we seek money and ease for our future. Do we have too much accessibility at our finger tips? Most humans are constantly connected by cellphones/smartphones, email, social networking sites, and video chat. The constant accessibility and contact to everyone we know creates a nervousness for being disconnected. People depend on technology today for communication, entertainment, search engines, and even for tasks in their job fields. The advancement in technology today has made it to were offices come to a halt when the Internet is down, or they can’t proceed with what they were doing therefore going into a panic frenzy to find an alternative plan. Before advanced technology, they could type it out on a type writer like Berry uses or even go even more old fashion and hand write things. In society today we are very dependent on our technological devices and allow them to do the work for us. We are becoming lazy to the community and we just want everything given to us at our finger tips allowing us to stay
