“No woman wants an abortion as she wants an ice cream cone or a Porsche. She wants an abortion as an animal caught in a trap wants to gnaw off its own leg.” (Frederica Mathewes-Green)
The risk of death from childbirth is 10 times higher than the risk of death from having an abortion. Women should be allowed to have an abortion within the first 12 weeks of their pregnancy. Abortion should be the woman’s choice, no matter what the situation is that she may be in. Women are not the only one’s who contribute into an unplanned pregnancy, meaning she should not have to raise a child she is not ready for.
Women should not be told by the government what she should do with their body. We don’t go to the government for things like a kidney transplant,

abortions are undertaken to end pregnancies that occurred as a result of rape or incest. “Typically, people on both sides of the abortion debate accept the premise that most women who become pregnant through sexual assault want abortions. From this “fact,” it naturally follows that the reason women want abortions in these cases is because it will help them to put the assault behind them, recover more quickly, and avoid the additional trauma of giving birth to a “rapist’s child.”” (David C. Reardon, Ph.D.) Having a child from rape or incest is going to make the mother think about their past every time they look at their child, and neither the parent or the kid should be put through …show more content…
If someone is not prepared to be a mother, she should not have to be. The father is able to walk out of the child’s life from the day he’s told he is going to be a father. Females should not be shamed for not wanting to be a parent. If abortion was illegal, women would seek out help to perform unhealthy abortions, possibly killing themselves in the process. For the women who are smart enough not to perform unsafe abortions, they would have to either raise an unwanted child or put their child up for adoption. Women should not have carry their mistakes with them their entire
Abortion has been one of the most popular and argumentative topics that has still yet to be settled. Ultimately the question we can ask when trying to solve this issue is whether or not pregnant women should have the right to kill an unborn baby. Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy before birth takes place and is a moral wrong. Can we as a society call ourselves human if we allow the deaths of unborn babies to take place? Those who take the side of pro-choice or as also known as pro-abortion often use statements concerning life, humanity, human rights and freedom to support their claims. I believe abortion should be illegal because we as a society must protect the human lives that are in danger whether or not they are in their first
Women should not be able to make decisions about how to live their lives. Clearly, by the looks of the statistics, with approximately 42 million abortions a year, women are foolish. Women should not have the option of deciding when or whether to have children. They do this by making choices regarding when to have sexual intercourse and what contraceptive methods to use. The government should have all the power to make these decisions. Abortion reflects a women's value, her family, and her career.
Legalized abortion gives women a relief because they know that they are the owners of their body and control it and give consent or don’t give consent to an abortion. If a woman becomes raped and unfortunately becomes pregnant, she won’t feel obligated to keep a baby from a stranger or from a psychopath who rapes random women. The raped victim also might not like the idea of carrying a child from which she was raped because she will constantly be reminded that she was raped and once again feel the endless pain. In the article, Humiliation, Degradation, Penetration”, it is mentioned how females who have been raped feel that it is unjust and psychologically unfair to keep the baby from a rape incident (Green 2013). Additionally, incest, the act of
It is more substantial than ever, to honor through words as well as through actions, that the right of women is to access their complete reproductive health choices with the dignity they deserve. Abortion is an effective individual decision within the health care field, and it’s a choice that should ultimately be appropriate for every woman who might not be physically, mentally, and economically capable enough of bringing a child into the world. “Though women have been endowed with the gift of bearing a life form, an abortion gives them the option whether they want to avail the present or not” (Finer and Joanna). Therefore, abortion should not be prohibited because it’s a reproductive right, and it reduces the numbers of homeless babies, and might reduce the crime rates.
The topic covered in this research paper is abortion. This paper looks into the history of abortion, the pro-life view of abortion and the pro-choice view of abortion. Under history of abortion the information included is the time line of significant events of abortion such as becoming legal, also different ways in ancient times women would try to use abortions. The upgrading of technology making abortion safer and even if abortion was illegal women would still find a way to abort a baby are also covered under the history of abortion. Under pro-life choice for abortion looks into abortion murder, the rights of human and the rights of the unborn and that a women doesn't have a right to terminate her own fetus. Under pro- choice
Jaden is a fifteen year old girl in high school, one night she went to a party with her boyfriend with no parent supervision so there was a lot of underage drinking, she doesn’t remember a lot from the party that night because she was under the influence, but she does remember being upstairs with her boyfriend. A few days later her boyfriend had told her that she needed to take a pregnancy test because he didn’t use protection, later that day she found out that she was pregnant. Jaden is scared to tell her parents that she is pregnant but she knows she has to tell them so they can help her get an abortion. Teens should be able to get an abortion without parental consent because taking care of a child while in high school can be challenging, it can be hard to provide for a child as a teen, and although it means you have to kill your own child, having an abortion is cheaper than taking care of a baby.
The ongoing dispute of abortion has condemned the idea of women aborting their unborn child. Whether it be lack of support, critical physical or mental health, rape, or not being ready for such responsibility - all women have a reason for having an abortion. Therefore, women should have the free will to do what proves necessary and beneficial to themselves and their pregnancy.
Should an individual have the obligation to go through a nine month pregnancy, or go through childbirth, or the mental stress of raising or giving away the child? The individual rights a women has are not only for herself, but the child relying on her to live. One of the woman’s most basic freedoms is the right to control her own body and to determine if she bears a child. Only she can determine whether she is emotional, physical, and economic ready at any given time to have and raise a child.(Chicago Women’s Liberation Union) While the common good for abortion is in a recent study, US Supreme Court found that women have better mental health when they have abortion as an option. It also means children are born and raised by parents who wants them and that young teens have a chance to educate themselves and become parents when they are ready. People often think an abortion is a terrible thing, a choice for those irresponsible teenagers that get pregnant while lots of more stressful arguments go into abortion. Thinking of such a
Having a child that you don’t need in your life right now may cause stress and eventually hurt you. A study shows that women who doesn’t decided to get abortions suffer from more mental health problems than those who actually get abortions. A Sep. 2013 study comparing the mental health of women who decided to get abortions to women who denied abortions found that women who were denied abortions “felt more regret and anger” and “less relief and happiness” than women who got the abortions. (Kimport, Rocca, 13) Legalizing abortion does allow women to get control of their lives again. There is an average of 293,000 victims of rape and sexual assaults every year and, girls 12 or older. When a little girl is raped while simply walking home from school she feels dreadful. The trauma of being raped will break her down and make her depressed and that’s only the beginning. After she gets raped, she starts to feel embarrassed and her self-esteem gets low because in her eyes she doesn’t see herself as beautiful anymore. Her whole reputation has been destroyed and everyone will look down upon her, even her family reputation has been damaged and tainted. In an article called “Violence Against Women” it states “You may experience feelings that you thought you had already addressed… then you start to have
Did you know 80% of women abort their kid if they have down syndrome? Abortion is where they end the baby’s life well it is still in the womb. Abortion has been an issue since the 1960’s and continues to grow today. About 1/4 of pregnancies end in abortion and 1/3 of americans before the age of 45 have gotten an abortion. ( (Guttmacher.) Abortion should be illegal considering the reasons for it, ethics and medical effects.
Abortion is a social and political issue that many people worldwide feel strongly about. Although the thought of “killing” another human being sounds horrific, it may be the only choice. The question that is often asked, does a woman have the right to choose what happens to her unborn child. Since a woman must carry a child during pregnancy and then be responsible for its physical, intellectual, and emotional well-being, as well as the enormous expense associated with raising a child, she should be allowed to decide if she wants an abortion.
For hundreds of years women have been deciding if they were ready to take the step into motherhood or not. Others have had the choice to extend their families or keep it the same. Either way the option of abortion has been around for hundreds of years whether it is done legally or outlawed. People are quick to say that abortions are morally wrong and can’t be justified. Being that we are in “The Land of the Free” shouldn’t the final decision be up to the woman contemplating the idea. With abortions being in place for women with medical conditions, vile acts, and just not being prepared, that right is being put in jeopardy with abortion bans popping up around the United States. No matter how someone feels
The chances of the expecting mother and abortion administrators getting caught and jailed for a right possessed by American women has not stopped them from seeking out abortions. If abortions were to become illegal in the United States, women would be forced to follow through with their pregnancies no matter the circumstance. Women who have medical issues such as preeclampsia, which increases the possibility of the condition carrier dying in labor, will not be allowed the privilege to abort. Unfortunate women who have gone through miscarriages, would be forced to give birth to their stillborn child, a devastation that I do not impose on my worst enemy. Some mothers who used protection before sexual activity, may have had failed birth control, which if it causes them to be with child, the mothers might have the opportunity to bring to life the ambitions that they now find unreachable. Often, women who are not able to provide for their newborn child, end up giving them to adoption centers. Pro-lifers are quick to remind the public that an alternative for mothers who cannot keep their child is to give them up for adoption, but the number of children in adoption centers and foster homes are continually growing in size. If abortion were to become illegal in the United States, the number of unwanted children in adoption centers and foster homes would increase tremendously in these flawed institutions where
Shaming women for having sex on their own terms is awful, but we also shame them for making choices for their own bodies after they have sex. Abortion is a very controversial problem in America since it terminates the pregnancy of a woman, killing the unborn fetus. However, the mother may not be capable of raising the child herself and therefore makes the decision for the future of herself and the unborn baby. It is currently being pushed that abortion should be made illegal to promote chastity and sex before the woman is ready for the responsibilities of motherhood, however making abortion illegal will also bring many health concerns for the mother:
To deny a woman the right to terminate her pregnancy is akin to robbing her of any ability to make decisions about her body, her self, and her future. The woman is effectively forced, against her will, to assume an identity and a future that she normally would have avoided. This type of coersion can permanently damage a persons emotional and psychological health. The one thing that makes each of us an individual is our decision making freedom and powers regarding our own future and actions. But when we are robbed of our ability to make our own decisions about our future, our self, and our identity, then we are robbed of our most essential and valuable treasure…our self. If a woman wishes to obtain an early term abortion…to terminate a pregnancy…then she must be allowed to choose this option. If she id denied an abortion, then both her and the future child will suffer tremendously. Please stop viewing abortion as something that you should have sole control over. A person’s body is their own, not yours. It is threatening and invasive when others attempt to direct the lives of their peers. Rather supporting the tyrannical idea of forced childbirth, perhaps you ought to consider the more moderate concept that all people should be able to choose the future of their bodies and reproductive functions. I advocate neither abortion nor
