Yes I believe Odysseus was right in what he did to the wooers' and he also had to do it because when he went to the Land of the Dead Teiresias said if he didn't do that they would of killed him. Also as the husband of Penelope and he heard the way there were treating her he would of felt the need of doing so. I feel as though it was right people them in that time should be killed because you need know what they are capable of. Also that Odysseus has all rights to do so because he is the King of Ithaca.
Yes i do believe they deserved there punishment they were rude and disrespectful as there King was away for some time. I do believe that when Odysseus killed the maids he was really harsh on the he could of slit there throats or
After the killing of the wooers, one of Odysseus's priests, Leiodes, despised the wooers for their actions, and refused to obey their orders. Still outraged, Odysseus mercilessly kills Leiodes knowing that he never prayed for Odysseus to come home. Odysseus' actions were not justified, especially because
After Penelope’s test, Odysseus reveals himself. When he does this he punishes the wooers and those who were associated with them. Yes Odysseus’ actions are justified. Everyone that was punished deserved it, and the punishment was not too severe.
As a beggar, Odysseus learns that Antinous and Eurymachus have been instrumental in the wooers actions. With their encouragement the wooers continued to use up Odysseus’ stores of food and wine. Odysseus also learns that Antinuos and Eurymachus were behind the plot to kill his son, Telemachus. When Odysseus reveals himself he kills Antinous and Eurymachus. Odysseus views these two men as being behind all of the deceit and disloyalty. He is justified in taking their lives as they would have taken the life of his son.
I think that Odysseus' actions were justified because of the actions of the wooers. Without any conformation of him being dead, they first tried to woo his wife. That is very disrespectful and angered Odysseus greatly. Also, the suitors show no respect for his house and belongings. They overtake his house without even thinking about the man of the house, which is disrespectful.
After Odysseus reveals his identity he kills all the wooers who have taken over his land. Basically everyone involved with the wooers was killed. However many questions are asked. Was Odysseus justified in his action? Did anyone innocent receive punishment? Was Odysseus punishment too harsh? Odysseus was not justified in his actions, all involved with the wooers plan did deserve punishment, and the punishment was too severe.
In the closing passages of the Odyssey, the suitors and disloyal servants are punished for their crimes against Odysseus, and it does indeed seem that the death penalty doled out by Odysseus is harsh. However, at this particular period of Greek history, it was expected that each man take his own vengeance against his trespassers as there was no judicial system in place to deal with these problems at the time, therefore it seems justified that as their crimes stretched over a period of nearly 20 years and were directly against xenia, the law of Zeus, that Odysseus take his revenge as he wishes.
First, the wooers showed total disrespect to Odysseus and his family when they came in his house uninvited, asked for Penelope
The wooers were in his palace without his consent and eating all his food. They were making themselves comfortable in Odysseus's palace which is completely wrong and ignorant. I don't think Odysseus severely punished whoever was involved with the wooers. They deserved the punishment they had received. The wooers were also harassing Penelope while Odysseus was away.
When Odysseus returned home to his wife and son, he took a very brutal approach to rid his home of the suitors who had invaded his household. This revenge was also taken out upon the servants and maids who had been unfaithful to Penelope and had slept with the suitors. Some may say this punishment was too harsh, and made Odysseus less than an honorable man. However, Odysseus’s actions were justifiable.
Once Odysseus reveals his identity he kills all the wooers. Odysseus isn't very humane about it. He kills them all in a bloody mess. In my opinion this punishment was to severe. I don't think he should've killed them especially the way he did.
Planned Parenthood wants Disney to create a princess who had had an abortion and is pro-choice, according to the Daily Wire.
The Second World War has been a consistent theme in film and literature since the 1940’s. In literature, authors from most parts of the world have written about the war since it broke out in 1939. In fact, the historical fiction genre is filled with books whose main events take place during World War Two. The war had mainly taken place in Europe, yet all parts of the world had suffered. Thus, it is interesting to observe how various authors, from different parts of the world represented the same war.
Odysseus was not justified in his actions. Even though the wooers might have deserved being killed, because of how disrespectful they were to Penelope and Telemachus. They were even disrespectful to Odysseus as well, trying to steal his country from him wasn't the smartest idea. All those hateful things the wooers said still does not make killing them okay. Violence is never the answer for anything.
There are many times in The Odyssey where Odysseus’ actions are questionable whether they were justified or unjustified. When Odysseus’ saw the way the suitors were treating the women, how they were stealing Odysseus’ things, and eating all of his food which made him mad. Odysseus’ proceeds to get the cowherder and swineherder to help him and Telemachus to take the suitors down. After Odysseus’ returns his actions towards those in his palace were justified when, especially when he killed Antinous and Melanthius.
