Animal Testing
Animal testing has been around for along time . Some people are for animal testing and some are against animal testing.I think animal testing should be aloud because it helps with people's medicine. Many modern advancements are from animal testing and advanced organ transplant methods.
Animal testing has led to diabetic treatments diabetics can live long normal lives because of animal testing according to drk line of the american diabetic treatment center. Millions of of diabetics can live happy lives and with an improved quality of life. Because of earthly animal testing and pig insulin not only has animal testing led to the treatments but it has also advanced.
Many modern advancements are a result dead animals the most commonly
Animal testing is a common practice in current life that is necessary to ensure the safety of the humans that will be using the tested product. There are many good and bad aspects of animal testing, but the pros clearly outweigh the cons. Animal testing has been around since ancient times when animals were dissected to gain knowledge about the body and organs. The animals killed from animal testing make up a tiny percentage of the total animals killed every year. When just considering the animals used for food compared to the animals used for testing, testing animals make up a mere 2.6 percent of that number. Public safety far outweighs the lives of the small amount of animals killed.
Have you ever had a sick relative? If so, have they used medication to help with said illness? Well that medication had to have come from somewhere. Animal testing has help conduct products such as vaccines for smallpox, hypothermia, and other major diseases. Now take into consideration what might have happened to that relative without the medication. As you can tell, animal testing has a positive impact on society, despite what might be claimed to be unjust. I will be explaining why this is so, and how some of the arguments are irrelevant.
There is much debate over whether animal testing should be allowed or not. Some people think that it is not essential to sacrifice animals for human benefits because they are being abused and tortured severely during experiments. Some others who stand against animal testing claim that humans eliminate many lives on earth in order to safe humans’ lives, so there is no justice because even animals have the right to live on earth, yet these people do not consider the truth that animals are being used in the food industry or in the laboratories. Thus, if someone asks how many animals are being used in the laboratory experiments around the world every year, who can give an accurate answer? It can be one, ten, or fifty million. It is difficult to find the exact figure on this question because people only read news through mass media such as having a new vaccine which can help human avoid uterus cancer or a new medicine help humans cure strokes, but they also need to know how many lives of the animals would have to take in order to get theses vaccines. Therefore, some organizes think that animal testing is one of the most disturbing experiments ever, and it should be banned. Despite many controversies with opposing opinions, a compromise can be made in order to reduce the use of animals in the laboratory experiments.
Animal testing is wrong and should be stopped, due to the fact that almost all of those animals are being killed or severely hurt. According to the Office of Technology Assessment approximately 23 million animals are being tested each year. This is not ok, we need to stop the madness.
Animal testing is cruel, unnecessary, and preventable. According to the article Argument against animal testing “The support for animal testing is based largely on anecdote and is not backed up, we believe, by the scientific evidence that is out there.” What is being said about animal testing is just based on a story and it is not being backed up with actual proof that we need. People believe whatever scientists are saying, but, how do we know what they are saying is true? Many people say animals do not get hurt during testing because they think that animals are protected under the Animal Welfare Act. But in reality is The Animal Welfare Act is not doing anything beneficial toward animals. Noah Berlatsky noted that “The Animal Welfare Act allows animals to be burned, shocked, poisoned, isolated, starved, forcibly restrained, addicted to drugs, and brain-damaged.” This is not protection. We need effective laws against
“The question is not, ‘Can they reason?’ nor, ‘Can they talk?’ but ‘Can they suffer?’” Jeremy Bentham said this, and this quote has become commonly used when speaking against animal testing. Why should those who are defenseless, have no say on their future? As technology advances, alternative methods of testing have come to the surface, but are ignored by those who believe that the results may not come as accurate. Many countries in the world, such as India and Israel, have passed laws against the use of animals to test cosmetic products. If they were able to use alternative testing methods then why shouldn’t the U.S.?
In my opinion, animal testing should not be allowed because almost all animals used for animal testing are killed. For example. “Scientists experiment to find out what kills certain animals by killing them and even torturing them”(www.peta.org). Based on this evidence, scientists kill and even torture innocent animals to figure out what kills them. Also in the text it said, “Most people hired for “darker” tasks are often paid more than those who just experiment” (www.understandinganimalresearch.co.uk).
Have you ever lost a loved one or even heard of someone passing away from a preventable disease that could’ve been stopped if the medicine to cure them was tested? About 21,000 people died around the world today from preventable illnesses. That number can easily be reduced to a much smaller number if doctors and scientists had the capability to test medications on animals. However, some argue that making an animal suffer is terrible, who would you rather want suffering? Your best friend? Or a random rat or mouse? The choice is yours. Animal testing should be used because, it can save lives, there is no other way to test the medicine properly and they help us to figure out what to change in the medicine so that it works the next time.
There is no denying that animal testing has led to many medical discoveries which have saved many lives. The first pancreases taken from dogs directly led to the discovery of insulin, which has saved many diabetics’ lives. This discovery is the back-bone to allowing animal testing to continue because it is proof that animal testing can lead to lives being saved. Animal testing is a controversy that has lasted for over 30 years, and it will continue to be the center of many debates until an equivalent form of testing is discovered that no longer puts animals in the line of fire. But until that day arrives, the question still stands. Should animals be used as test subjects? Though there are two answers to this question, each making logical points, I say that animals should no longer be used.
Many animal activists argue against testing on animals; however, it is not as cruel as it seems. Testing is not as harmful on the animals as people may think, and it has a great purpose. Animal testing continues to advance society in a number of ways. Laboratory testing of animals should not be stopped because it is an effective way to test drugs, leads to important discoveries that save human lives, and it benefits the animals as well.
Every year, millions of animals are used in medical research to find the cure of different diseases and infections. This is because most animals have more or less the same physical processes as humans hence tend to give way good results. Animal rights activists claim that the animals have right to life and humane treatment therefore it is unethical and treatment to do the testing on them. Although the former statement is true, animals should be used in medical research because there is no other alternative for medical research on living organisms since it can saved life, helps to obtain good results and protect humans before starring their trial on humans.
Animal testing is a process of using animals in conducting scientific experiments (Christopher 14). The practice is also widely referred to as animal research or animal experimentation. In efforts to understand how the human body reacts and behaves in different conditions, animals are used as an experimental substitute in finding or establishing relevant solutions related to items or substances that humans use on a day to day basis such as cosmetics, household merchandise, food preservatives, industrial chemicals, supplements, and medication (Hackman 92). The tests that involve animals largely take place in medical schools, establishments of military defense, Universities, laboratories and in biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Most
Have you ever witnessed a white mouse with the terror filling his eyes as he looked out of his bleak cage and into the face of the big man with the lab coat? Or have you ever seen a pregnant rabbit being tortured by the people you call scientists? One of the questions facing society today is whether or not animals should be used in scientific experimentation. Animal rights activists have pointed out the fact that animals play an important role in nature and human’s lives. Killing animals for any purpose is one of the steps that will destroy Mother Nature as well as the human race. For this reason, animal testing should not be used in scientific welfare and cosmetic industry.
I doubt that anyone has ever heard of the dog named libby, who was rescued from a testing facility, run by the Professional laboratory and Research Services inc. This corporation ran test on a multitude of animals, no species was safe. All animals from dogs like libby, to cats , bunnies, rats and mice, and many others. Before libby was called libby, she was known by the number that was tattooed to her ear. She was sick with hook and tapeworms and had a multiple of infections. She was also locked in dark cages. And on top of all of that; Staff screamed obscenities and physically abused the animals in their care. This story is a fact of an animal testing facility, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be. I believe that animal testing should be allowed,
A. I would support experimentation with the animals in consideration, to a certain extent, on how they are being treated. It should be distributed over a broad variety of animals, within reason. I'm not opposed to killing animals if it is for science. Some of our beloved pets pass from cancer, just like our loved ones. Curing cancer would not only help humans but some animals as well. Once the experimentation is completed, whomever conducted it should try to promote the repopulation of the animal lives that were lost, especially in the event of wrong doing on too many of one species. Most animals that are tested on are rats that are bred specifically for the means of experimentation, it is a loss but not a great loss.
