Introduction
Tobacco users are quickly switching to E-Cigarettes convinced that they are a safer option to their former tobacco use. Companies are advertising that people can get their nicotine fix safely and not have the risks of cancer, heart disease, or a myriad of other ailments. What most people do not realize is that there is no current regulation making E-Cigarette manufacturers properly label what is in the liquid being consumed or the amount of said ingredients. As of right now, manufacturers have very little restrictions on them when

The National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) has written several articles showing that there is no solid evidence that E-Cigarettes are helping people to quit using tobacco. Several studies have been done by various organizations and the results are simply inconclusive. They state that some people quit using cigarettes in favor of vaping, but others use both, and some younger people actually start smoking after vaping first. Even NIDA says that many E-Cigarette manufacturers are putting ingredients like formaldehyde and acetaldehyde in their products where both are known to be carcinogens when ingested (NIDA, …show more content…
The general consensus is that E-Cigarettes are not safe. Many of them contain known carcinogens as well as other unsafe ingredients. However, the long term use of E-Cigarettes is still really unknown. Although the FDA has classified E-Cigarettes as a tobacco product and therefore have many of the same restrictions, they have not mandated manufacturers to properly label their products nor have they penalized manufacturers for false advertisement. One thing has become certain; unless the FDA outlaws E-Cigarettes, which at this point is extremely unlikely, vaping is here to stay and may replace smoking in the
Jennifer jean a Registered nurse that has experienced the effects of traditional cigarettes especially on some of her older patients, believes that the electronic cigarettes will eventually end up being like the traditional cigarettes. The traditional cigarettes were once believed to be one hundred percent safe until they did research and investigation and then and all the different health issues began to arise in the smokers. There will soon be ads against the use of the electronic cigarettes just they what they currently have to haalt traditional cigarette smoking.
The popularity of e-cigarettes and vapes has grown exponentially within the last couple of years. These two alternatives offer a “safe” way to consume nicotine or just a substitute to regular cigarette smoking. These products omit water vapor instead of tobacco smoke, constructing it as less of a health risk. Nicotine can be added to the mixture to help quit smoking or offer a healthier option to those with nicotine dependence. There has not been widespread research on conventional e-cigarettes, in addition to data on vapes been relatively premature. These smoking devices have not be regulated by the FDA yet, but the FDA has looked into e-cigarettes and its contents (FDA, 2015). Many e-cigarettes that are thought to be free of nicotine, have
The profitable business of electronic cigarettes has raised over $3 Billion dollars annually, vastly spread across over 466 brands which have joined the ordeal. Above all, known as a “gateway drug”, electronic cigarettes have claimed the once-ordinary lives of people, specifically to those who have turned from tobacco cigarettes. What is more, scientists have determined that not enough research has been executed to automatically assume the healthiness of e-cigarettes. Despite this, many have claimed that e-cigarettes, are, and will be the new “healthy” drug, so to speak. Provided that e-cigarettes do not release harmful smoke, they are still not safe for one’s health given that not enough research has been performed on them.
According to SF Gate, discussions regarding tobacco use have hit meeting rooms. The idea is, while e-cigarettes still delivers nicotine to the body, it does however filter out tar, carbon monoxide and other dangerous toxic chemicals found in tobacco cigarettes. And it's because of this why, theoretically, the public is better off with e-cigarettes.
Although there are claims that e-cigarettes help people to quit smoking, and some people are successful with it, there is no solid evidence. Most of the time when people vape, they still use cigarettes. The case is often that people use their vape in public places that don’t allow smoking, and then smoke at other
This study really opened my eyes to a new prospective on vaping and the use of e-cigarettes. The use of vapes should be taken cautiously and not displayed for our youth to see so vaguely. Though, it has shown me that vaping and e-cigs have a positive effect on helping traditional cigarette smokers stop smoking. These studies will take us much further into the pros and cons of regulating vapes and
Although E-cigarettes, also known as electronic cigarettes, are generally bad for your health, they do have some beneficial uses. The biggest benefit would helping people stop smoking regular tobacco cigarettes. Although e-cigs aren't harmless, they do offer a safer, and healthier alternative to regular tobacco cigarettes. In fact, Webmd states, “people who wanted to quit smoking were 60% more likely to succeed if they used an e-cigarette to would be quitters who used anti-smoke nicotine patches or gum.” This
E cigarettes are not a good alternative to cigarettes because users are still putting nicotine in their system. Nicotine is an addictive drug that causes many side effects along with addiction. According to the Department of Behavioral Health (https://onlinelearning.hhdev.psu.edu), Nicotine is a stimulant drug and has the addictive ingredient in tobacco smoke. I will cover below the reasons why E cigarettes are not safe to use rather than regular cigarettes.
E-Cigarettes have become the latest talk in replacing traditional cigarette smoking, especially internationally. Doctors and individuals now are being persuaded into thinking e-cigarettes are a better substitute for smoking, and some doctors are even suggesting e- cigarettes to their patients. Yet, a growing amount of research is suggesting that e-cigarettes have not been proven to be safe, and have been
While more research on electronic cigarettes is necessary, there’s significant evidence that e-cigarettes are helping many people. Further, there’s no evidence that non-smokers, such as children, are choosing to use e-cigarettes as a gateway to regular cigarettes. To compare e-cigarettes to tobacco just as a precaution is incorrect, harmful and immoral when millions of people have the chance to move away from the known and severe harms of smoking
One thing that has commonly been agreed upon is that Americans are smoking less cigarettes now, due to vaporizer. About 23% of smokers have tired electronic nicotine device systems and 62% of participants from one study reported using them for no loner than six months (Tackett et al. 868, 870). According to Alayna Tackett et al. research, who are affiliated with the Department of Psychology and Oklahoma State University found, “Exhaled CO readings confirmed that 66% of the tested sample had quit smoking. Among those who continued to smoke, mean cigarettes per day decreased from 22.1 to 7.5” (868). This is pretty remarkable considering the fact the about half a million people die from cigarettes every year, in the United States alone. Participants reported that they viewed e-cigarettes to be, “significantly less harmful than all other tobacco products, all
E-Cigarettes are advertised to say that they are suppose to help you quit smoking, there not. They are just another way to get nicotine into your body. Nicotine is a very bad drug that harms people's body. No one should smoke any type of cigarette because all cigarettes put bad chemicals into your body and can make you get really sick. Another reason why they should not be similar to regular cigarettes is because they are also shaped like “regular” cigarettes so the person feels like they are smoking an actual cigarette. If anyone had a lot of trouble quitting smoking, and want to go to E-Cigarettes, I don’t think that they should be the same shape as regular cigarettes because then the person is going to want to go back to regular smoking which has a lot more chemicals than
With technological innovations happening everyday, many products are being created promoting health. Among these products is what is known as a e-cigarette. With no tobacco, tar, or even smoke, it has to be safe. Or is it? E-cigarettes were first introduced in 2006 as an alternative to smoking tobacco products. These e-cigarettes use vapor as opposed to smoke. The user still can receive their fill of nicotine with an added bonus of a flavor choice. With there first launch they weren 't seen as a breakthrough to many people and quickly was pushed aside. However, with growing technological advancements they have become a trending alternative to the normal cigarette. Many are quick to assume that the lack of actual tobacco results in a less dangerous product. But is it actually what it seems?
E-cigarettes have heating elements that are battery operated and hold cartridges of nicotine and other liquids and flavoring. They were produced to assist those who are trying to quit smoking or reduce the amount of nicotine that is actually inhaled in the body to make it a safer product for the consumer than actually smoking a cigarette. There is controversy on whether or not this product promotes a safer nicotine habit or stimulates someone to begin smoking habits. Most importantly, those who do not smoke at all are concerned whether or not the secondhand smoke emitted from these devices is harmful for those who do not wish to inhale nicotine products. There are states laws that
E-cigarette is believed to greatly reduce on the health effects associated with tobacco smoking. However, e-cigarette has been criticized as a leading cause of smoking among the youth due to its flavor as well as its novel appearance and campaigns. It is also believed to pose some health risks. Despite such drawbacks, e-cigarette has recently gained a lot of popularity and subsequent growth.
