Legalizing Marijuana The legalization of marijuana has been a huge debate for years now. Because it is a drug, everyone sees it as a bad thing. But I don’t think they have really looked into it and its advantages. Studies show that it can help with multiple medical issues, and enhance creativity and focus. States within the US have slowly started legalizing marijuana, and it should continue to happen. In the article Medical Marijuana: What the Research Shows by Bara Vaida, she writes about an interview she has had with Dustin Sulak, a licensed osteopathic physician, and a doctor on the front lines of medical marijuana. Within the interview Sulak says, “Patients with chronic pain needed fewer prescription pain meds. Patients with multiple sclerosis had less painful muscle spasms. Patients with severe inflammatory bowel disease began to eat again.” So he is giving examples of how it’s a pain management, and a way to calm down your body when needed. Also, because of the fact that when marijuana is consumed, the person consuming it will likely get hungry, also known as “getting the munchies.” Because of this, people with eating disorders can benefit from this by a potentially increased appetite. …show more content…
