Once upon a time there was kid named Brett, who just transferred to a new high school. UNCW High School was the school where all the popular kids were popular and all the unpopular kids wanted to be popular. Bret wasn't so popular so the popular kids always pick on him, called him names and also push him around. See Bret was the kid that always minded his business regardless of the ill-behavior displayed by the older popular kids. Bret would be considered a nerd, because he wore glasses that looked like goggles, high waters, pants pulled up past their belly button and big ears. Unlike Bret, the popular kids were popular, because their “swag” consisted of the hottest and latest new Jordans, from Jordan 1’s to the Retro Jordan 11’s, tapered
As a student, I am often troubled by the rigid routines of the school day, despite the fact that I am actually a very habitual person. The constant ringing of bells, lectures, bellwork, classwork, homework, each a daily practice throughout the school year. Although all of these components promote conformity, which will ultimately support the balance of school and societal norms, they also tend to threaten each student’s own unique characteristics. This then poses the question; to what degree should schools encourage conformity versus individuality? Certainly, a level of conformity is required to achieve a balanced society however, the overall structure of the school day and class, including the methods used to teach and mandatory classes,
Everyone knows academics are the main point of school, but athletics have begun to take over and draw away from that focus. Many individuals believe school sports are more important than ever; however, cost is excessive and players often think about upcoming games or matches, detracting attention from homework. Therefore, districts should eliminate after-school sports because they cost tremendous amounts of money, cause academic failure, and are a major distraction.
Some of these actions depend on the children and who they are against or how they are ranked in the social status, and some just lack of confidence. Others are not too affected because of their social status and how much confidence they have. “Children might get physically or emotionally scarred.” (Dodgeball debate Pt. 1) Some of the weaker kids can get seriously injured when against the bigger tougher kids. In acquaintance with that, kids are human targets. They are being picked on by the stronger ones to just get them over with. Furthermore, if a kid hits them right in the noggin, they can get knocked out and that could seriously affect their brain depending on how hard they got hit. “Some parents expect their kids to be safe in school.”
High school is a combat zone. Perhaps incognito, high school is vile in all ways, shapes, and forms. High school is destruction of humanity. From blondes to redheads, and albinos to bronzed beauties, there is no fair play. Manipulation, deceit, lies, and forbidding grades are the fate of these entire helpless quarry. After many devastating centuries, mankind has learned to adapt to this revolution. Fighting for freedom and molding to the staggering state of affairs, students have mastered separation brilliance and competence, creating differences with style, interests, and appetites. One thing that will never change… there is no escaping these dreadful high school cliques!

‘I’m off to Club Bed featuring DJ Pillow and Mc Blanky,’ if only sleeping was this fun for everyone. Did you know with each hour of sleep we lose, there’s an increase of 58% of us attempting suicide! High School in Australia starts too early, and teenagers do not get the 9hr of sleep they need. I believe high schools should start at 10 AM, teens are at an important stage of their growth and development, because of this, we require more sleep than adults. Then, there are the expectations of older generation looming on us. In addition, without enough sleep, it can also lead to drug uses, depression, and suicide attempts. For a teenager to get up at 6 AM, is equivalent to asking an adult to get up at 4 AM. Do you want to get up at 4 AM?
From 2004-2012, the obesity rates for children 12 to 19 years old have increased from 17.4% to 20.5% in a study concluded by fitness.gov. Kids need to stay active and, the easiest way to keep kids moving are through competitive sports. Staying healthy is not the only reason kids should play sports. Athletics can teach valuable life lessons and build strong character. There are many great things about sports, all kids should get out there and play a sport. Children should be given the chance to compete in sports.
Almost all student athletes get butterflies before that Friday night football game, before the fans get to watch them compete, or even the to get the ability to practice. Many argue that high school sports are a distraction in the classroom or even cause career ending injuries. There are many different scenarios that prove that high school sports do the exact opposite of those. When it comes to high school sports, it keeps students fit, boosts a student’s academic performance, and enhances a student’s self-esteem. High school sports are very beneficial and for anyone who is looking to take on a new challenge to take on.

“See nothing, hear nothing, you may not have any beliefs.” Many people think that conformity is harmful to children and that it makes them less imaginative, but not necessarily. School is an important part of people's lives, but we shouldn’t let them get away with being too lazy. Schools should have a daily bell schedule and kids should attend school every day, but we shouldn’t force kindergarteners to go through standardized testing. Children should conform to the ‘system’ but we shouldn’t stress them out. We shouldn’t make young children stress out about a big test that will change their future forever. We should have some conformity in schools but not to the point where it makes people overly stressed-out and anxious. School shouldn’t be like a prison.
Your image through high school will be how people see you, and whether they judge your character or appearance, you will be judged. You can’t get through high school without judging and being judged because it goes hand in hand with the comparison/competition game. Students judge each other to help identify where they stand in the social pecking order. It takes place in all sorts of forms because everyone has their own standards. While one student is judging another for being a “goody two shoes” that same student is judging the other for consistently partying. Judgments all depend on where you stand, and you have to learn not to put too much thought into what others think of you, because how you see yourself is all that matters.
We all have been young adolescents before and experienced all the things junior high and high school has to offer. Being a teenager is something everyone has or will experience in our life times. Teenagers go through a crucial time in their lives where they really figure out who they are and how to make more adult decisions. Peer pressure has always been a regular part of teenage life. American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry state's “Peers play a large role in the social and emotional development of children and adolescents. Their influence begins at an early age and increases through the teenage years. It is natural, healthy and important for children to have and rely on friends as they grow and
School discipline is to ensure that students and the campus staff are safe and peaceful. According to the U.S. Department of Education on Rethinking Discipline (2017), “Teachers and students deserve school environments that are safe, supportive, and conducive to teaching and learning.” The idea is to decrease bad behavior and school violence which will lead to fewer suspensions and expulsions. There are rules and limitations when it comes to student discipline; there are acts in which students can and must be disciplined. For examples, if a student quality’s for special needs some different guidelines protect them under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act’s (IDEA). Furthermore, the Education Code, Section 48900 was implied to discipline students who committed any wrongful doing such as attempting or threatening to physical harm another person. In the case f any wrongfulness, the student is forced to be disciplined by being suspended or expulsed from school.
Back in the past many have focused on drug and alcohol use in school students along with students carrying weapons to schools, and it seemed as if no one was recognizing the significance of school bullying. For victims of bullying, they go to school every day facing harassment, taunting, and humiliation. Kids today come home and kill themselves or never want to go back to school because of BULLYING. “Studies show that 25-35% of teens encountered some type of bullying in their lifetime (Nansel et al,).” Bullying is a form of violent behavior that happens not only in the schools but everywhere. Kids everywhere have been exposed to bullying in school for generations and ages . Although bullying has always been a factor the consequences for
