As stated by Amanda Lenhart, who wrote for the Pew National Research Center, “Aided by the convenience and constant access provided by mobile devices, especially smartphones, 92% of teens report going online daily — including 24% who say they go online “almost constantly,” according to a new study.” She goes on to state that, “71% of teens use more than one social network site.” The earliest means of communication between one another was by the delivery of a written correspondence in a contact one-on-one manner, however, with the ever growing internet; there is no such need for person-to-person communication, but rather a click of a button or swipe of a call. To explain, popular social media sites like Facebook or Instagram, to name a few, have taken over the world of social networking and it is a concern to many due it its accessibility to a vast growing population of people. The expansion of social media in particular reveals that more and more people are catching on this widespread use to connect and communicate with others. Social media is an extremely convenient and useful invention, but most users of social networking, unfortunately, are the youth. It can bring a negative influences and effects on the youth due to it being essentially, a method of increasing free speech platforms.
