It is shown that homeless rates, which are the number of sheltered beds in a city divided by the cities population, have tripled since the 1980’s (National Coalition for Homeless, 2014). Worldwide, it is estimated that 100 million children live and work on the streets. Homeless children are more at risk than anyone else, and are among the fastest growing age groups of homelessness. Single women with children represent the fastest growing group of homeless, accounting for about 40% of the people that are becoming

This isn’t necessarily true, in fact some children who go to bed every night with a roof above their head still suffer from some form poverty. According to National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP), 21% of children throughout the United States live in families who are considered poor. It is crucial for society to be more aware of this issue and to take part in contributing to help reduce child poverty within our country.
The book “With No Direction Home: Homeless Youth on the Road and in the Streets” written by Marni Finkelstein refers to the homeless youth. This book describes the lifestyle of the teenagers with no home and explains with detail about what consist in their everyday lives in the streets of New York City. The purpose of this book is to explain to people who these kids are and to see life in their point of view. It explains the difference between street kids and the kids that live on the street. We need to understand that the kids that live on the streets have their own culture and their own way of surviving. Learning their point of view would be a great eye opening experience for everyone and to also understand their struggle. This book explains a study that was done to 50 street kids and life on the streets.
the children violence will increase because of the absence of their mothers. Their health will be affected in a bad way because the bad food which they eat from the street and rubbish. They also may fight with each other every day to have food, water and clothes which will reflect on their physical health. They will catch mental illness because of seeing the other children who have mother, father, good brothers and good sisters. In other words, the children who have someone to look after them, someone to give them a healthy food, someone to give them money, someone to play with them, someone to give them good education and good future, will make them feel with sadness. The number of homeless children should be decreased by any positive way.
Many people still think of homeless transients as alcoholics and/or mentally disabled. The truth is, the current homeless population consists of runaway adolescents, single adult males or females, battered women and over one million homeless families with children – typically headed by a female parent.
Homelessness is a pressing issue that affects everyone all over the world, of all ages, all race and all sexes. There is an inexcusable amount of young people who are homeless. 17% of all homeless people are under the age of twelve. That could be the age of a younger sibling. Imagine if they were homeless, living on the streets. This is the reality that some have to face
Homeless children is more of a problem than people realize. Children who are homeless have a greater chance of having heath problems than the other children since they do not have access to medical and dental care. "Children who lack a stable home are vulnerable to a number of adverse outcomes" (Child). These children are more likely to repeat a school grade, be expelled from school, and even drop out of high school. Most homeless children have experienced violence and they now suffer from anxiety and depression. There are two types of homeless children. One type is called "Family Homeless" which is when a child is separated from their parents and placed into foster care or they are living with some of their family members. The other type is called "Unaccompanied Youth" which is when children are out on their own and have no one with them which includes the runaway youth. It is very hard to count the number of homeless children because their living situation changes frequently.
The ethos is a Greek word that means credibility, it is often used in English to demonstrate the strength of the writing or someone. There are four essays that have weakest to strongest ethos that are read; “Kids are Kids-Until They Commit Crimes”, “Startling Findings on the Teenage Brains”, “On Punishment and Teen Killers”, and “Juveniles Don’t Deserve Life Sentence”. Each essay has a different point of view, all but one talks about teens should not get adult punishment for crimes they commit because they are not fully developed like adults. Teens do not have a full concept as adults do when they commit such a horrendous crime. The strongest article with ethos is “Juveniles Don’t Deserve Life Sentences” because she dealt with juvenile criminals: she gives facts and very little feelings when giving information in the article. The weakest article with ethos is “Kids are Kids-Until they commit crimes” because her facts were most likely opinions, she wouldn’t state where she found her research, her essay is confusing, and her article was not actually in an acceptable order; especially how she gives her the information.
Hobo, beggar, and bum are just a few terms used in society today to describe the homeless community. Today, more and more individuals and families are becoming homeless and majority of them never imagined being homeless. This tragic event could happen to anyone. There is not a guide created to overcome the barriers of homelessness or a "how to manual" when an individual or family is faced with homelessness. "Homelessness occurs when people or households are unable to acquire and/or maintain housing" (End Homelessness, 2016).
“The number of homeless children in the U.S. has rush forward in recent years to an all time high, amounting to one child in every 30”, the Department of Education's latest count of 1.3 million homeless children were in
One in every 50 American children experiences homelessness, according to a new report that says most states have inadequate plans to address the worsening and often-overlooked problem (“1 and 50 children experience homelessness” 1). The problem of homelessness
There is currently, 800,000 homeless children enrolled in public schools (Flannery, 2010). These homeless children do not stand on the corner asking for extra change, as you would picture a homeless man or woman. Instead, these children borrow clean clothes from their friends or go to local mall and shoplift. On the condition, of these homeless children, the cause
Homeless families with children represent the fastest growing segment of the homeless population; in fact, they constitute about 40 percent of all people who are homeless (Stronge 7). In addition, the most recent estimate of homeless children and youngsters by the United States Department of Education is 744,000 (Stronge 7). These statistics are indeed quite frightening, and they go to show that children constitute a large part of the homeless dilemma. The part of that dilemma that seems most taxing is that of educating such homeless children. How can these kids become active members of society if they are unable to receive a proper public education, the same education that is provided for so many other kids under the Constitution?
Imagine if a city has a rise in the homeless population there may not be enough beds for the night, which will result with some individuals being turned away. Many of the homeless youth are on the street not choice, and they normally have begged on the street for food just to live. Did you know that unstable homes can vary from couch hoping to extremes like children/youth having sex for shelter for the night? This is the situation that many homeless children on the street must face, if there is no room in the shelters or if they did not get enough food to survive for the day. Understandably, this can happen to homeless adults, but they have more strength to fight back, whereas children/youth who are smaller in structure may not be able to fight back. As a result, there are many individuals out in the world who would love to exploit the weakness of these children. Homeless children can easily be sex trafficked because most of the time they need food or shelter.
In today’s society children becoming homeless and having to fend for themselves is wide-spread but homelessness in families also tends to be common (Jewel 2). This issue affects the human population in a very grave way which leaves one out of every fifty children experiencing this immense epidemic (Crary 1). The current recession, has caused sixteen percent of homeless children to be present in our country today and with the economy worsening this statistic will increase (Kingsbury 1).
