Many professional athletes and entertainers earn large sums of money. But, doctors should earn more money for saving lives. Textual evidence that supports my claim is “one reason to pay doctors more is there simply isn’t a big enough army of physicians, especially primary care doctors, to deal with the health care needs of this country”(https://www.huffingtonpost.com/jonathan-d-gelber-md-ms/why-doctors-should-be-pai_b_9510048.html). This saying that doctors should get paid more money because they are saving people's lives and athletes are just playing sports when the doctors are the ones helping them with their injuries. Athletes are the sports stars we all dream to be whether it's in Baseball, Football, or any other professional sport;
What is an athlete? An athlete is someone who strives for first place and works hard to get there. There has been many controversies over whether or not NASCAR drivers are considered athletes or not. However, NASCAR drivers are considered athletes. Take five time championship winner Jimmy Johnson for example. Jimmy Johnson is an athlete because he practices as often as he can and he participates in a highly competitive and challenging sport.
Yes, Athletes get paid too much money. Accordingly to the article,from LeBron James making 71 million dollars and the President does not make as much money as LeBron James. Nurses, and other people who save lives do not make as much money as LeBron James.
Professional athletes are some of our nation’s greatest heroes. Although they did not fight in a war nor lead an astounding political campaign, many Americans hold these athletes in high regard. Professional baseball players are looked up to as leaders.
“Touchdown Patriots! 3, 2, 1! And the Patriots win the Superbowl!” Millions of pieces of confetti were falling on them, as if it were the money that they make every year. But wouldn’t you think that people, like doctors, would earn 5.15 million dollars for saving people’s lives every single day, and professional football players would make $189,000 - $258,000? It is actually the other way around. Professional athletes started to get paid for playing sports in the 1920’s, which is when people started to actually notice them, and they were paid, on average, 5,000 dollars a year. Now don’t get me wrong, getting paid to entertain people in fine. But today, they get paid 5.15 million dollars a year, just by playing sports. I think that might be going a little bit overboard. In my opinion, professional athletes get paid too much.
How much money do athletes make? Today getting a $1 million contract as an athlete is considered an insult. Yet doctors save lives and don’t even get over 2 hundred-thousand dollars a year. Athleticism isn’t a needed job so why are they paid more.
“It may seem unfair that athletes get paid to play a game, but remember who they are actually playing for: us.”Athletes get paid more money, but they do non-stop work/practice. Firefighters might go to a few training lessons in a lifetime. Athletes Constantly are improving.”We have to have the mentality that we have to work for everything we’re going to get.” -Stephen Curry. Many professional athletes get paid millions of dollars. Some people think that athletes shouldn’t get paid as much as they do. I honestly think they deserve to get paid like they do.
There are millions of people who save lives while a handful who are athletes. There are other dangerous jobs that do not get as much money as athletes. In the text it states,” Nurses who dedicate their lives to the care of others didn’t get that much. Firefighters who pull little kids out of burning buildings didn’t get that much.” As one can see athletes get paid too much compared to an average family. Doctors, who work so hard to take care of little children and adults, don’t get as much money either.Athletes should not get paid too much as there are other dangerous jobs that don’t get as much money as athletes.
Many professional athletes and entertainers make very high salaries. I was asked to write about my opinion on this, and I disagree. My two reasons on disagreeing are: I think they don’t risk as much as police offers, nurses, soldiers, etc. My second reason is because most, but not all, usually spend what they make on material objects.
Furthermore I would like to illuminate the meaning of the word athlete. In my opinion an athlete is someone who subjects themselves to physical activity for a group or team. According “Webster’s Dictionary”, an athlete is a kind of a person that is a intern in the entertainment industry. In other words this person is getting paid by private or public organizations to play a recreational sport or activity. Also another word I would like to
Should physicians be paid the same or by the quality of their services? This is a long debated concept in healthcare, one that some say it really shouldn’t be. This is due to the fact that it’s a part of professionalism in healthcare to expect high quality in any physician’s work. Yet, that is not always the case. Some physicians care more about how much they get paid rather than the quality of their work. Therefore, physicians should be paid based on the quality of their work to ensure the best care for patients (Garson, 2014).
“An athletic person trained or gifted in exercises or contests involving physical agility, stamina, or strength; a participant in a sport, exercise, or game requiring physical skill,” (Athlete, n.d.). Celebrity athletes
inspire young people to work hard so that their efforts can pay off, but no one
On the contrary, if doctors were to disappear tomorrow, there would be a huge problem because doctors play a huge role in our health. Secondly, athletes are known to cheat and use drugs like steroids to improve their performance. For example, if we considered world famous soccer player, Cristiano Ronaldo who makes enough money to build approximately 25 white houses, can't cheat and take steroids/PEDs. This is basically showing kids that “It’s okay to use illegal substances, because, in the long run, it will pay off by earning me an enormous contract which leads to tons of money” so not only are they cheat, they are bad role models. Lastly, professional sports jobs are unfair overall because their athletes are naturally talented for example basketball players are born tall. Of course everyone wants to be a multimillionaire but it’s not possible for everyone because of their genetics. All things considered, athletes are paid too much money because their jobs have no importance to society, they cheat with drugs, and it’s genetically
America is known to be the largest spender on healthcare compared to other countries. As health related costs escalates, many assume that there is a correlation to the quality of services and the positive effects from patients. Even though healthcare expenses have increased, many citizens lack access and affordable care. Some Americans face bankruptcy due to expensive medical bills that were needed. Some choose to not to use the health services and prioritize other needs like using that money to pay for a car. Those who receive care through the health system face internal issues. Two different doctors working together may have different information on the same patient. Through some changes, people would no longer need to worry about their finances over their health. The data could show a positive correlation between the spending on healthcare and the outcomes. People will not file for bankruptcy due to bills from medical services. Patient’s information can be changes to be universal where any doctor will have the accurate facts. The healthcare expenditures will continue to rise without effectively helping people but if this country acts to resolve this problem rather than to continue the path they are on
Public school teachers around the United States are not earning fair pay. When compared with other fields such as computer science, engineering, or the medical field, teachers earn among the lowest pay grade of all jobs. The thought of living on a low-income frightens many potentially amazing and well qualified students from pursuing a degree in education. Teacher pay is beginning to affect students education as well; therefore, causing children to not obtain the education they deserve. Teachers should be receiving more money because valuable teachers are walking away and superior education begins with quality teachers.
