“Islamophobia is prejudice towards discrimination against Muslims due to their religion, or perceived religion, national, or ethnic identity associated with Islam because Muslims have different beliefs and values”. (Islamophobia wikipedia 1) Like anti-semitism, racism, and homophobia. Islamophobia describes mentality and actions that domain an entire class of people. Jews, African-Americans, and other populations throughout history have faced prejudice and discrimination. Islamophobia is simply another reincarnation of this bigotry. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary,a phobia is an exaggerated, usually inexplicable and illogical fear of a particular object, class of objects, or situation. It may be difficult to determine or communicate the source of this fear, but it exists. From this definition we can see how is so unfair to connect the word phobia to Islam specially because the word Islam in arabic means peace and safety. All that means that a lot of people don’t know nothings about Islam and the unknown can easily provoke fear.
Immigration has been a burning issue lately, particularly after Donald Trump’s immigration ban in the United States of America. It has been a topic that families discuss every morning with breakfast. Despite many concerns related to immigration, it has several positive benefits that mostly outweighs the negativity. People bizarrely argue when it comes to immigration, but these arguments are primarily based on facts and ideas that are outdated or inconsistent and blindfold the positive aspect related to immigration. Many immigrants in the United States are good workers who don't depend upon any public welfare and mostly help in the overall development of the economy. As a country made by immigrants, we must not forget the fact that immigrants have helped to build cities and create a path of development form Google to iPhones (Gray & Furman, 2012). These facts are secluded, and some related arguments with different content have been repeated for years and continue. Immigrants have a lot to give the United States rather than to take, especially when it comes to economic terms.
granted amnesty? After the resources and argument, it is believed that Amnesty should be given to illegal aliens. What is amnesty? Amnesty is a pardon for someone who was convicted in a crime. Amnesty is tangled with the term “Illegal Aliens”. Illegal aliens according to the A huge part of the economy depends on the illegal immigrants such as agriculture. Natives have a mindset that they are too good to be working at such lowly
The hardships and struggles that Mexican immigrants go through while living in the United States are far worse than they need to be. It is harder for Mexican immigrants to obtain legal citizenship and find jobs in this country than it is for all other immigrants. George J. Borjas, a writer, from Politico Magazine exclaimed, “Donald Trump used one of my economic papers to back up his plan to crackdown on immigrants and build a physical wall: “Decades of record immigration have produced lower wages and higher unemployment for our citizens””. This demonstrates how U.S. citizens think that Mexican immigrants take jobs from citizens and don’t positively contribute to this country, but in reality they are just uneducated on the topic. For example, a study done by Pew Research Center shows that 74 percent of Republicans voted in favor of Trump’s wall being built to divide Mexico and the United States. But when a poll was taken only of people living within 350 miles of the border that number dropped to 63 percent. These numbers show that citizens who aren’t affected by Mexican immigration think it has a negative impact on our country, when in reality people who live and work with Mexican immigrants do not want the separation of the two countries as much. From this, you could infer that Mexican immigrants are not taking the jobs of U.S. citizens and they do not have the negative impact that we think they do, yet they are given less opportunity and freedom.
Immigration in the United States Among the presidential candidates for the year 2016, Republican representative Donald Trump seems to have the most ridiculous and controversial campaign ideas. One of his more known campaign ideas has to do with banning Muslims from the United States. He generalized that all Muslims currently, or plan to act as, terrorists who will launch attacks on US soil. Building a wall on the border between US and Mexico is another well known idea of his, especially because he wants Mexico has to pay the cost for the wall’s construction. Even though politicians may paint immigration in a negative light, the United States relies on immigrants to help its economy, so it should not opt to throw them out of the country.
There are an estimated 11.3 million illegal immigrants in the United States. With current far leaning politics gaining popularity and a republican controlled government the popularity of anti-immigration policies is at an all-time high. I believe amnesty is the only moral and logical solution to illegal immigration. Amnesty would lead
Geneva Hitzel Dr. Cooper ENGL1301 3 October 2016 Immigration Aleppo, Syria has become one of the most violent cities with, bomb raids, shooting and all acts of terror. “Thousands of people have been killed there, including 4,500 children,” reporters at CNN state. One of those children was Omran Daqneesh. This innocent, little child has recently become a poster for the harrowing casualties in nations of unrelenting wars. Videos spreading all over social media of this small, bloody, and terrified child has caused many to stop and think. Is banning all immigrants into the United States of America truly the best idea? The innocents of Syria would say, no. The policy on Immigration in the United States has never been agreed upon. While
Donald Trump is running for president. He is laying down a lot of proposals. One of the biggest proposal is trying to ban Muslims from entering the United States, when he becomes president. Donald Trump addressed these issues saying that he is trying to protect the US and the people away from danger. This is important issue because it is unconstitutional.
Immigration continues to be a major problem in the United States on whether to include or banish “these illegal aliens” from America. With the current notion on Obama’s executive order many continue to claim that it is “administrative amnesty” in disguise or an “executive fiat”. However, while everyone is free to speak and criticize the new order, President Obama has the constitutional right to prevent deportation of the unauthorized immigrants. He is able to execute this immigration policy not only because he is the Chief Executive.
Franklin D. Roosevelt, an American president, has Dutch ancestry in his life. Anybody who comes to America are from different cultural backgrounds; every family arrives in the United States to make something of themselves. Families are getting ripped apart as they are being deported back to their homeland, and leaving the life they built behind. A great deal of diverse families who travel to the United States; are deprived of their American dream because of fear of deportation. Illegal immigrants should be granted amnesty because Immigrants are taking jobs many Americans do not want, they are taken advantage of for not having legal documents, and they are not secured by fundamental living rights.
Statistics indicate that forty million citizens, or 13% of the entire U.S. population, are foreign born. I am one of these forty million. Unfortunately, discussions about immigration have come to revolve around curtailment, rather than about immigrants themselves. Presidential candidate Donald Trump has risen to fame by painting immigrants as “murderers, thieves, and rapists.” Trump’s popularity signifies a radical shift from the time in which the words, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free... I lift my lamp beside the golden door,” were boldly inscribed onto the Statue of Liberty. Immigrants are no longer seen as people, but as a pathology. Even discussions about the benefits of immigration aren’t about immigrants themselves, but about what immigration can do for the national economy. As if an immigrant's value to society can only be measured in terms of capital.
I believe that immigrants should be let into the USA and there should be no restriction on allowing who comes in and out. However, I do believe in the safety of any citizen or person living in the United States. Because of this, I think that each immigrant should be scanned. Previously said during the discussion, immigrants really boost our economy and keep our culture young and new. “Successive waves of immigrants have kept our country demographically young, enriched our culture and added to our productive capacity as a nation, enhancing our influence in the world.” (Griswold, CATO institute) Immigrants bring new ideas and fresh minds to a hard topic. A current misconception is that immigrants take away jobs from Americans. However, the CATO
All of us, every single person had to come from somewhere. So if that's the case, then how can we make immigrants today feel safe and welcomed. An immigrant should feel ok to eat the foods they used to eat in their country. Most of the time they don't.In
There is currently debate about, if Muslims should be allowed into this country, specifically Muslims from Syria, Iran, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Sudan,
Travel Ban Be it resolved that the United States fully repeals the travel ban due to the discriminatory effects it has on some people. The travel ban is a terrible executive order that was put into place by President Trump on january 27th of 2017. The travel ban was put into place to protect the United States by not allowing any citizen from seven muslim countries to enter. These seven countries are; Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. These countries were targeted due to supposed risks of these countries harboring extremists groups such as Isis or Al-qaeda. According to the article “Trump's executive order: Who does travel ban affect?,” by BBC News, “ The travel ban suspensions the US refugee program for 120 days, places and indefinite ban on Syrian refugees and suspends all visas of incoming immigrants of the seven banned countries” (BBC News). The seven countries are heavily muslim, however most of the people in these countries are no threat to the United States in any way. Why is the United States completely discriminating the islamic religion when we are founded on the basis of religious freedom. Not everyone who is muslim is a terrorists so why are we punishing a lot of good people for the actions of very few. Most of the terrorist attacks that have happened since 9/11 have been carried out by a U.S citizen, so are we going to start deporting all muslim U.S citizens? The islamic religion is not the problem it's the radicalistic idea that some people
