Teacher’s from Oklahoma demanded more money for salaries and lessons need. The Governor of Oklahoma has already signed laws to increase salaries in the state, but educators are still not satisfied. “The Oklahoma Education Association has demanded $10,000 for teachers over the next three years”(Schallhorn). However, this problem is not only occurring in this state it is actually nationwide. Teachers all over the Nation are calling for strikes and rallies to demand more money. I believe teacher should get paid more because they are the foundation of the next generation. I am guessing many teachers are not satisfied with their paycheck since there has been strikes and rallies created from them not getting paid enough. The teaching profession always …show more content…
We hardly give teachers any credit for their work. A teacher’s job is mostly due outside of school I believe. I appreciate dedicated teachers who love what their doing, because they are guiding the young to a right path. If you want to do anything on life you need an education. Without the teachers you would not be able to become a lawyer, doctor or even an athlete. The best teacher go above and beyond because they care about their students. Teacher are very underrated, they want the best for their students and just wants to see them succeed. Some teachers actually try to help students by tutoring when they can really be going home to their children or own family. Also, they sometimes deal with difficult kids. Most kids don’t appreciate the education they are receiving. An education that some kid out there wishes for. Teachers deserve way more money than they currently are paid because is not a job, but a career. Teacher work all the time and often have to buy their own supplies. Although there may be some teachers that slack off, that does not mean that they should get in the way of the teachers who actually love their
We need to start appreciating how much time and effort our teachers put forward into our education. They don’t have to waist their lives on the students, but they do it anyways. Why do they have to work so hard off of hours and not get paid for it when others get praised for it? Nobody can understand what a teacher goes through unless it is a teacher themselves. Teachers not only deserve a raise they deserve more respect. Now of days people are starting to give less respect to teachers more and more. Teachers will keep doing what they are doing, but not getting the pay they deserve for the hours they put in during and out off work is not right. Give teachers the pay they deserve or we will see a decline of teachers in our
In the United States, public schools get their funding from their respective state. As a student, it can be seen as concerning when one compares how much states spend on their schools. Many schools are inadequate in both an aspect of safety and effectiveness of the learning environment. As a result of inadequate subsidy across America, schools resort to taking drastic measures. Not only are the unequal sources of subsidy a difficulty, but the concept and execution of budget cuts also exacerbate the issue. In order to give every student in America equal opportunities for success, funding should be controlled by the federal government with a policy that enforces equity rather than equality. This is also a viable option that could be carried
What will Oklahoma look like in 2040? Will it thrive in the realm of student education, or will it even have a coherent education program for Oklahoma students to be successful? Tulsa World published a report showing that Oklahoma is ranked 48th in the United States in education (Eger). What does the future entail if the state fails to build its educational system back up? Teacher salaries in the state of Oklahoma are a hot issue right now because of the recent low rankings of our education system. Low teacher salaries do not just affect teachers; they have a tremendous impact on students and their education. The people of Oklahoma do not want to raise their taxes to increase teacher salaries,
Many people wonder if teachers should or should not get paid more than they do. A lot of people believe that teachers should get paid more, but there are some that do not. Parents that want their kids to have a good education want teachers to get paid more. For example, P.V Derkachev said, “… teacher pay influences the quality of education.” (Derkachev 574). Teachers that get payed more would be more likely to perform better at their job and not mind the extra time that they have to do stuff outside of work to get everything done. Matt Barnum said, “Higher salaries --- even small bonuses ---- can and do keep some teachers in the classroom, and likely improve outcomes for their students.” (Barnum). The student is going to get taught better if teachers get paid more because the teacher will want to teach at the best of her ability which will help the student.
Teachers have and will always have a big impact in everyone’s life and if not everyone, well, at least they did for me. They teach you everything you need to know about a subject and valuable life lessons, so why are they not paid sufficiently enough to make a decent living? Teachers salaries have always been low and I believe it is the time that changes. Being a lawyer, doctor, or engineer is great, but none of that would be possible without the insight of a teacher, I will inform you in this paper on why I believe there is a need for action. I will go over the background of teacher’s salaries, my ideas on what would be best for teachers not just in Texas, but nationwide, and pros and cons on the issues and ideas at hand.
They give our students an education,if we did not have teachers, there would be no reality in jobs etc.Another reason is that they literally work a full time every day of the week and weekend job. They even have to take work home with them, such as grading students work and thinking of new plans to teach in the classroom. They also have to teach in all different ways because every student learns differently.
The low pay for our educators is causing many negative effects. New York Times shows that the low income is causing sixty-two percent of teachers to have a second job outside of their teaching jobs. Just to have enough money to support their families and make ends meet. Most everyone decides to college to prevent having these struggles with money, and to avoid having to work multiple jobs, when they get older; however, not when it comes to living off of only a teacher’s income, the struggles to have enough money are interminable. This low pay is also causing most teachers to retire, and find new jobs. New York Times states, “every year 20 percent of teachers in urban districts quit. Nationwide, 46 percent of teachers quit before their fifth year. The turnover costs the
After doing a lot of research and seeing the mistakes others made, I came up with two solution to this problem. Women normally take “lower” paying jobs because they need a job that they can balance with home. They also enjoy jobs that help other people, ex. Nurses. Men choose jobs, like politicians, that they they want to do and they get paid more. As a solution I propose women, and not only women, should get paid just as much as when they are a teacher as when they are a politician. Teachers take care and teach the next generation so I think teachers should get paid just as much as a politician. This will benefit women, as most teachers are female, because they do about the same amount of work as a teacher or as a parliamentarian or politician.
Many professional athletes and entertainers earn large sums of money. But, doctors should earn more money for saving lives. Textual evidence that supports my claim is “one reason to pay doctors more is there simply isn’t a big enough army of physicians, especially primary care doctors, to deal with the health care needs of this country”(https://www.huffingtonpost.com/jonathan-d-gelber-md-ms/why-doctors-should-be-pai_b_9510048.html). This saying that doctors should get paid more money because they are saving people's lives and athletes are just playing sports when the doctors are the ones helping them with their injuries.
Another argument to players being paid is that players are able to get away certain infractions that regular students can’t. Many people view this as compensation for being in a sports program at college. There have been various examples throughout college sports programs, football in particular where academics have taken a back-seat and players have abused the system. A red-shirt freshmen was dismissed from Alabama for allegedly using credit cards that were stolen by his teammates (Scarbough). These incidents have become common place among universities that have popular sports programs. The student-athletes generally receive little to no punishment for their actions. I would have to agree that players do receive preferential treatment while
Well we’ve all heard growing up that the incoming generation is the future of the world. However, teaching involves way more than throwing, catching, and shooting balls. As we look around the society some ask is the job market fair and logical with jobs such as acting, music artist and being a professional athlete are far more important than teachers, doctors, police officers because the ones that matter the most and actually help out are paid substantially lower than athletes and others. This is why I’m here to argue why teachers should get paid more.
Welcome to today’s fight! In the blue corner we have the State universities and in the red corner we have Ivy league universities. Our referees are graduating high school seniors looking for their perfect fit for the next four years. Our spectators and commentators are their parents. The fight starts off with the way students analyze schools and compare different educations. Comparison between state and ivy show up in references like the “Ivies of the South” and “Harvard of West Coast Schools”. These references show that Ivy League schools demand a higher prestige and more rigorous academic plans rather than State schools. This hints to the assumption that a Harvard student would be chosen over and Auburn student almost ninety percent of the time. This topic will ultimately lead to the overall research question on whether state schools should be free. The fight in the end genuinely just boils down to the individual student budget, preference and availability.
It has come to my attention, that despite the fact that there are some simple laws stating that it is illegal to pay someone less than someone of another sex, women are still being paid less than men. This is unfair and unjust. It is discriminatory and offensive, and someone needs to do something about it. For these reasons, I have created the following proposition:
Have your parents been payed to do the same chores you do? This essay is about whether or not kids should be paid to do chores. Some chores shouldn’t be paid for, like walking and feeding a dog, or doing laundry. Though there is the benefit that we will manage money. Some kids still think all chores should be paid for. Some parents think that no chores should be paid for. I think we need a place in the middle, where some chores are paid for but others aren’t. This would be better because then parents and children wouldn’t fight about money. This debate should be debated by families
Public school teachers around the United States are not earning fair pay. When compared with other fields such as computer science, engineering, or the medical field, teachers earn among the lowest pay grade of all jobs. The thought of living on a low-income frightens many potentially amazing and well qualified students from pursuing a degree in education. Teacher pay is beginning to affect students education as well; therefore, causing children to not obtain the education they deserve. Teachers should be receiving more money because valuable teachers are walking away and superior education begins with quality teachers.
