Arguments Against Animal Testing

Imagine walking into a cosmetic or medical research laboratory and seeing thousands of animals locked up in cages, deformed, injured, even dead. In 2010 a total of 26 million animals in the US were tested on (thehastingscenter.org). Animals have the closest genetics to humans than anything else yet animal testing is a cruel and inhumane job and not all animals have similar organ functions to humans. Animals should not be used for scientific or commercial testing.
Some people might argue that there is no better alternatives for testing then animals. Over the years, however, science has created many alternatives for animal use in testing. One alternative is, using donated human tissue and organs. With this method less animals will die for human research. This has also been proven to be up to 20% more accurate than an animal testing (Neavs). Another alternative would be microdosing. Microdosing would take human volunteers and give them small doses of drugs high enough to cause an effect but not high enough to affect the entire body (The Hastings Center). The truth of animal testing is that it is cruel and inhumane. Animals are being forced to eat, sleep, drink, starve, or even die in order for humans to test the reactions of human made products (HSI). As more animal testing continues the worse it gets. Tobacco, a popular addictive plant found in cigarettes, cigars, etc. As the tobacco industry spreads the factories look towards animals to test the product. Animals have forced smoke being directly pumped into their noses. These actions cause their hair to fall out and skin to peel off (PETA). As animals are forced through these dangerous testing procedures they learn to become hostile towards humans. This leads to the animals attacking, injuring, even killing
