The Lemoore City Council is debating whether the cat law should be approved. The cat law is absolutely ridiculous due to the lack of evidence of cats actually doing damage to the community. Also cats do not cause any harm to humans even in close range of them. For a fact cats actually helps the community from other vicious rodents that harm the local food resources.
We as the Lemoore Community do not agree with the law, because of the lazy inhuman actions towards cats. An Australian study shows that cats help some endangered animals survive. On Australian islands where cats were eliminated, rat populations rose exponentially. Rats are notorious for eating bird eggs, and a result bird populations on those islands were becoming extinct. They also increase biodiversity, because predators are more likely to kill animals that have a higher population. For example, Shrews and birds both

It’s because of the nasty rodents that get hungry at night and are searching for food. Many store owners keep cats despite the law, because it’s hard for owners to not have cats, but they’re also not allowed to have rats. Before the rat could sneak its way into the store cats will kill them, So for that being stores will be kept safe and rodent free with no complaints from customers and keeping businesses strong.
In conclusion, people that are are agreeing with this law should do some research, because the people that are for this law they mostly don’t like cats. These people are dog lovers, so just because they are a dog lover doesn’t mean they should treat cats like their nothing less. All sorts of cats help the community to save other species that are in danger. They don’t do harm to the human race, they’re actually caring animals whether you know it or not. Finally, they keep the produces and healthy fruits safe within our local
When BSL is enacted in a community it gives the citizens a false sense of security. They believe that all the “dangerous” dogs are done away with. Breed-specific laws have a tendency to compromise rather than enhance public safety. When limited animal control resources are used to regulate or ban a certain breed of dog, without regard to behavior, the focus is shifted away from routine, effective enforcement of laws that have the best chance of making our communities safer: dog license laws, leash laws, animal fighting laws, anti-tethering laws, laws facilitating spaying and neutering and laws that require all owners to control their dogs, regardless of breed.
Imagine that you are an everyday average joe. Just walking down the street, all of a sudden a man bumps into you, no big deal. But then he gets very angry and gives you a solid kick to your stomach. The police are called and it was bad enough you go to court. He receives a bail and no jail time. You can't even walk in that area for the mental fear of what could happen to you. The next day you are reading the news and an incident in your area catches your eye, a college student kicked a cat. You figured that since the man who did a similar thing to you, received no jail time and a quick court session, the same will happen. You thought wrong, there is a social outrage everywhere, people call for jail time and it the number of court hearings goes up and up. But why should someone go to jail for something and not for another because the victim was a cat and not a human? Why is a cat's life worth more to the people than a man's? Someone should not go to jail for kicking a cat because there are bigger things that require the court's full attention. And the fact that things on the internet are taken very far proportion to what they really are, and the fact that the line for things called animal abuse is a very much grayed area.
7.6 million animals enter the shelters and with that 2.7 million animals are euthanized in the shelter. The same amount euthanized gets adopted each year, which is depressing. One would think more would get adopted or simply taken in if lost to avoid the deaths or strays of animals such as the cats that was previously stated. Animals are human companions that show love and guard or are just fun to help people out in therapeutic ways. Humans take animals for granted with how we send them to shelters not caring if it’s going to end up with them dead in a week of being at that
One of the dog’s best advantage is that according to the article, ”they can be trained to protect your home, keeping it safe from harm.”(Anonymous) The dog’s ability to defend it’s owner alone justifies it as the better option for many every household from the frail elderly to the budding family. Furthermore the cat cannot adequately guard its household, and may even disregard its owner’s property and viciously destroy furniture as mentioned
Every pet owner has that horrible moment when they accidently step on their dog’s paw or cat’s tail. The dog will whimper and cower like it is asking what it did wrong; while the cat will hiss and hide for awhile. Most people will momentarily hate themselves for hurting their beloved pet, but there are people in the world that harm their pet intentionally. These people will torture animals for fun and have no regret or buy a pet and neglect the animal. If caught these animal abusers are given a slap on the wrist and on severe cases given a short jail sentence. Animal abuse should be considered a felony rather than a misdemeanor.
on the part of those who do not have any knowledge of the supposedly vicious breeds. A
In Australia State and Territory animal welfare legislation prohibits all forms of animal cruelty and imposes that all owners of animals are obligated to provide for all welfare need for their animals. Any breaches in the animal welfare legislation is a serious crime and can result in fine and imprisonment. A woman from Deer Park Texas has been convicted to jail by a jury for aggravated animal cruelty and animal torture for allowing over 3 dozen dogs to starve to death in locked cages at her Muddy Paws “Pet Rescue” facility in Deer Park. This is an overwhelming case as she had been running a business where people would take stray dogs when found as they were supposedly being taken care of and found new homes if an owner could not be found. This woman has knowingly let these animals starve rather than using the money that was being Donated to the business for food. In my opinion this woman shouldn't have been allowed to run this facility and should never be allowed to care for animals or people after she is released from jail.
Due to the cost of the TNR program, these areas have found it better for population control and more cost effective to simply trap the stray cats and euthanize them. The result of this policy of killing is that over 70% of all cats entering animal pounds and shelters in the counrty are killed, according to Sharon L. Peters, article in USA Today. Euthanasia at shelters is the number one documented cause of death for cats in this country. Those in support of the TNR program believe this to be proof that the catch and kill program is not only ineffective, but inhumane treatment of
Owning an animal can take up a lot of time. For most people time is of the essence, and spending a lot of time on an animal is unrealistic . Cats are able to live without their owners for days on end. They can usually find something to eat, and pee if plants for example. But dogs need to be put in kennels and looked after by another person. Dogs also have to be put on leashes when they are outside. Cats have the ability to roam freely because their owners do not have to worry about them causing a lot of trouble. A cat is allowed to be outside until late hours because owners know that the feline will make its way home, where as a dog at night is usually brought inside, or chained up outside.
I would argue against the housing provider’s “no pet policy” by invoking laws that support the physically and mentally disabled. Under the “The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)” and the “Fair Housing Act (FHAct)”, service animals by law are excluded from “no pet rules” (ADA and FHAct n.p.). The purpose of the exclusion is that service animals are trained to perform specific tasks to improve a person with special needs quality of life (ADA and FHAct n.p.). According to ADA and FHAct service animals such as guide or signal dogs provide support to the vision and hearing impaired to improve upon their quality of life (ADA and FHAct n.p.). Furthermore, service animals are used by a person with special needs for protection, as well as
the family. With new laws, animal activists are trying to completely rid us of using dogs
Many people may not know that animal cruelty has been around for hundreds of years. . In the article "Animal Cruelty Prosecution" published by American Prosecution Research Institute found that, The Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Colony established “The Body of Liberties” found by the Animal Cruelty Prosecution, in 1641. The Body of Liberties was a document written for the protection of animals from unnecessary pain and suffering. Animal cruelty happens every day whether it is from starving, beating, lack of medical care or proper housing for animals. We are in need of stricter laws to help fight the rights of animals. Animal laws should be more strict on people
I do not agree with this article because the entire thing is bias towards cats. There are more cat pets over dogs. Cats should have the freedom to be outdoors, not get blamed for the destruction of the environment and more studies should be done on how cats are worthy rather than the immoral
Animals are an important and valued part of many families and cultures. In many households, animals are considered members of the family, receive Christmas and birthday presents, and are cared for just as a human child would be. Opposition to animal cruelty has even become a sort of universal value in American culture(Kordzek 604). But animals are uniquely vulnerable to abuse, and despite this they still do not receive much needed protection from the law. The penalties for animal cruelty are not frequently severe enough to even deter one from harming an animal. This is dangerous not only for animals, but for human beings too. Animal cruelty and domestic violence have been proven to correlate in countless ways, and recognizing animal cruelty as a serious criminal offense and a form of domestic violence would serve to protect both animals and human beings from needless acts of violence. Instituting stiffer criminal penalties for animal cruelty and increasing the protective measures for victims of abuse is necessary to further the protection of both animals and human beings.
For many years now the world has seen controversy over the rights of animals and if they think and feel like humans do. Many people see animals as mindless creatures or as food, while others think they have emotions and can feel pain. In other countries animal protection laws are in place that are strictly enforced and seem to work well with the system. In the United States however; some of the animal rights laws are considered to be useless and under-enforced (Animal Legal & Historical Center). More people today are beginning to see that animals should have rights and should be protected by laws and regulations (Animal Legal & Historical Center). Sadly there are many people residing in the United States who don’t take animal rights or protection laws seriously. These people abuse animals in many ways, including food industries that disobey the regulations set in place for the slaughter of animals used for consumption. Luckily for the animals there are people who fight for their rights and the enforcement of laws called animal rights activists.
