Arguments Against Racial Profiling

Racial profiling in the dictionary is “the assumption of criminality among ethnic groups: the alleged policy of some police to attribute criminal intentions to members of some ethnic groups and to stop and question them in disproportionate numbers without probable cause (“Racial Profiling”).” In other words racial profiling is making assumptions that certain individuals are more likely to be involved in misconduct or criminal activity based on that individual’s race or ethnicity. Racial profiling propels a brutalizing message to citizens of the United States that they are pre-judged by the color of their skin rather than who they are and this then leads to assumptions of ruthlessness inside the American criminal justice system. One of the many controversial topics is racial profiling. For centuries, America has looked down and discriminated minorities and it still continues today. It began when minorities started to immigrate to America in search of better lives. Most whites believed in white supremacy and thought minorities were aliens. The police use racial profiling mostly towards minority groups. Racial profiling is the use of race or a skin color to suspect someone of doing an offense. While some people think that racial profiling is beneficial because it lowers crime rates, racial profiling creates false accusations against minorities; therefore we should limit the use of racial profiling.

I think racial profiling is right to some extent. Using racial profiling to determine what type of crimes people are likely to commit is just a broad overview and is just generalizing what type of person is likely to commit which type of crime. To me racial profiling with law enforcement is an effective way of catching criminals and preventing crime and allows for the police to focus on areas where crime is high and needs to be prevented. For example imagine if you were a police chief and you have been informed that the crime rates are through the roof and out of control in a specific. You know for a fact that a white male commit more crimes someone of another race. Would you just sit down and propose an idea saying to search everyone evenly

A serious civil rights issue is racial profiling. Racial profiling is the use of race or ethnicity as grounds for suspecting someone of having committed an offense or crime. The reason I will talk about this topic is because this is happening to a lot of African Americans as well as Muslim, Latinos, and others. Because of racial profiling, innocent citizens are being killed, put in prison, and discriminated against.

People in law enforcement use race, ethnicity, religion or nationality as a factor in determining if an individual has committed a crime, this is called racial profiling. Many in law enforcement believe that racial profiling is an efficient way of screening someone who is suspected of a crime. They fail to see the problems with profiling someone based on how they look or their backgrounds. Racial profiling is wrong in any circumstance because crime comes from all different types of people, it causes distrust between law enforcement and the people of that community, and it violates citizens constitutional rights.

There are major suspicions that minority groups of people are being treated unfairly by law enforcement, through a concept called racial profiling. Racial profiling is focusing blame for a crime onto a group of people based solely on race, ethnicity, religion or national origin. This is only a suspicion in the U.S., but in other countries, this is blatantly going on now in 2017. The reason law enforcement officials tend to racially profile is because there is a common belief among many that certain people commit certain crimes more often, therefore it is a way to (in theory) catch more terrorists, drug dealers, etc. It occurs when officials such as the police will take someone into suspect just because of race, ethnicity, religion or national

Racial profiling is evident in our community when police officers target people for suspicion of crime based on their race, ethnicity, religion or natural origin.

The racial profiling still exist in this world today some may say "ohh racism has nothing to do with it " now I some cases I'd agree ,but in these days people are always recording and there is the proof that some are racial . Black people are labeled as thug or drug user ,but polls determine that white people are more likely to use drugs except crack .The racial profiling comes in here there are more whites using drug from fact, but more blacks are in jail the polls say 40% of blacks people are in jail for drugs ,but only 29% of white people are in jail .

Have may have been a victim of racial profiling. By definition racial profiling “the consideration of race when developing a profile of suspected criminals; by extension a form of racism involving police focus on people of certain racial groups when seeking suspected criminals”. We all laugh when the old lady in the movie is asked to describe the burglar and her response is “He was black” only to find out her grandson was the criminal. However, for the people suffering this you ever been consider a suspect of a crime because you “fit the profile of the perpetrator”? If so, you possibly injustice in real life every day, it is no laughing matter. There is no fun in being followed around a department store expected to shoplift simply because I am black. Nor, do I find the humor in having to explain to my son to make sure he does not behave in a certain manner when he goes to certain places so he won’t be seen as a threat unintentionally. Racial profiling is no fun. It degrades the person profiled and should make the person doing the profiling feel low. It affects numerous Americans in daily situations where others have the luxury of not thinking about it. Considering we all

I do not believe society should criminalize insulting and abusive speech. Not because I think it is ok, just reading the epithets on page 34 of the text made my skin crawl in disgust, but it is because it exposes a person's true nature. For example, I had a customer come into my work regularly, started to get to know him, and when he became more comfortable around me he started dropping racist jokes. Because of this, I no longer associated with him and called him out on it. If it was a criminal offense, the darkness that is in his heart may have never been exposed, which is still there regardless of whether it is muzzled or not.

Living in today’s society, everything is portrayed throughout the media’s perspective. The media can have individuals disagreeing or agreeing on a specific topic as they try to build their genuine opinions around to make it look as though it is not a big issue; some of the media can be guilty of biased reporting. Racial profiling and discrimination is one of the most sensitive topics that the media is endeavoring to overlook today. African-American people are visualized as an individual who commits crimes or performs illicit human actions. There is hope that attention will be brought to the brutal acts of the police force and the acts of any discrimination still being a problem presented today: in schooling, public places, etc.

Racial profiling is the act of accusing a victim of a crime based on the color of their skin. Now, this seems pretty horrible, but this action of “preventing crime is used widely across the world and hurts millions of people. Whether it’s a store clerk following a child around a gas station or a police officer shooting over an innocent black man racial profiling is an issue. It comes down to the very ethics of being human. An officer can not judge a person based on their race on what they’re going to do. Racial profiling destroys the very rights a person is born with by judging them to be a “criminal” without giving the person a chance to prove them otherwise. While the argument might state that it prevents crime, there is a limitless amount of examples that show that this is hurting an entire group of people just based on something they can't even control.

Racial profiling is a systematic phenomenon that has occurred all throughout history. Today in culture, it is very evident that issues of racial profiling occur often. Racial profiling is the act of forming a judgement and targeting an individual based on their race, ethnicity, religion, etc. Racial profiling is based on stereotypical assumptions depicted by society. In the United States, the law enforcement is one of the main participants of racial profiling. They target minority groups such as Hispanics, Indians, Muslims, Chinese, and African Americans for suspicion of a crime based on their race or religion. African Americans, out of all the cultures, encounters the most racial profiling in America today.

For as long as this nation has been established there have always been serious problems with racial profiling. Not only should it never be used, but it creates narrow-minded people by only allowing individuals to view other individuals in a limited viewpoint rather than giving them a chance to break and expand that certain viewpoint. In the documentary “Us Against the World” racial profiling was a huge factor. The documentary demonstrated racial profiling at its full potential and they provided various ways of evidence to show their audience.

Racial profiling is a very controversial topic in United States history, it has brought upon us wars, losing innocent people in our lives, and very large arguments between one another. The true meaning for racial profiling is judging someone based upon their ethnicity, and it can happen between any two different races. There are three main problems with racial profiling, one is that it occurs without being noticed by many other people, then this leads into people thinking it is not going to change anything. In that problem you would think that something big like that would change because it is affecting so many people but that why it goes unreported sometimes because they believe that nothing will ever change. Another one is that the people and the police offices do not fully understand the concept of racial profiling. This would then make it difficult to point out the differences in the crimes that could be committed by the different types of races. The last reason is because police officers believe that racial profiling rarely exist or does not happen at all in their eyes and when it does there is serious consequences. Everyone sees racial profiling in a different way or it could be the same way but they do not act the same way as many other people would reenact it. In the following paragraphs I will further explain each other problems that there are will racial profiling.
