Arguments for and Against Abortion The battle over whether to legalize or ban abortion in the United States has greatly increased in recent years; the moral, ethical and legal had been a continuous fight in our society. The abortion issue is also the most passionate and debatable in the United States to whether allow one to have free will over their body or have the government make that decision. Furthermore, it is one of the leading debates in political races. In this society everyone has a choice and they all have consequences. The choice for a woman to choose to have an abortion is solely her fundamental right. Contrary to pro-choice supporters, pro-life supporters argue that the fetus has more right to life than a woman’s privacy right (Head, 2015). I believe that if anyone interferes with one’s right to take any decisions about their own body is a violation of their rights, which makes me stand towards pro-choice for abortion.
Pro Choice In the United States the two groups, mostly differ by gender and age. The middle-aged groups are equally split on the abortion issue, whereas 55 and older are mostly on the pro-life side. Individuals ages 18 to 34 lean mostly towards pro-choice for abortion. However, the greatest difference on these views is between the political groups, whereas Republicans are mostly pro-life, Democrats pro-choice and independents are in the middle (Saad, 2014).
