Final interpretation of The Butcher
Do you know the meaning of a man chopping off his own arm with a cleaver? In the short story written by Ari Siletz, a little kid lived in Iran deeply understood the secret hidden behind this religious picture. It is nothing about violence, but honest. For the little kid, it means apologizing for the mistakes and paying for them. For the butcher, it means taking responsibility for storing meat products and maintain the quality of them. For all human beings, honesty is definitely one of the prominent personalities of a man. There is no debate that honest people will always win the respect from others, just like the butcher. For example, mom and other people who know him well truly trusted him at the beginning
Fabricating the truth in Christopher’s father’s case only prolonged the inevitable effects that he so desperately tried to avoid. Lies ruin relationships as it was difficult for Christopher’s father to regain his son’s trust after lying about two tragic incidents. Whichever way you look at it, being honest is important to maintain healthy, longlasting
Being confronted with the reality of a desensitised society advances one’s self to a heightened awareness of that reality. ‘The Meatworks’ exhibits this idea through the disregard for non-human life as seen when directly exploiting pigs to earn a living. The enjambment Gray employs within “But I settled for one of the lowest paid jobs, making mince, the furthest end from those bellowing, sloppy yards. Outside the pigs fear”. Along with first person and high modality expresses how both physically and mentally uncomfortable the persona is with being more involved with the slaughter, revealing his standpoint as a humanist, empathising with the pigs. Gray delves further into this empathy, directly describing the result of desensitisation in “arm-thick corkscrews, grinding around inside it, meat or not… using a
Discoveries can be confronting and provocative. From this, we can be exposed to disturbing images that make us question our societal values. In ‘The Meatworks’, Gray quickly establishes this unwelcoming nature of discoveries through the explicitly derogatory description of the abattoirs processes and it’s accompanied workers. This is evident through the use of provocative imagery in “arm-thick corkscrews, grinding around inside it, meat or not”. From this depiction, we are exposed to the merciless treatment of the of the +pigs as they lose their identity. The fact that the machine never stops grinding whether there is meat in there or not denotes such a sense of insensitivity towards the process, causing the reader to feel distressed and guilty of the slaughter. A degree of insensitivity is also presented to the reader through the recurring motif of blood, an idea that is central to the poem. “Stench of blood…chomping
Before taking into consideration that honesty is extremely important when writing, we should understand what honesty means. Honesty is being sincere, truthful, trustworthy, honorable, fair, genuine, and loyal with integrity. It is the best way to gain respect and confidence from your audience. According to Linda Flower, in her work of “Writing for an Audience”, “the goal of the writer is to create a momentary common ground between the reader and the writer. You want the reader to share your knowledge and your attitude toward that knowledge.” The ability to adapt your knowledge to the needs of the reader is often crucial to your success as a writer. Even if the reader eventually disagrees, you want him or her to be able for the moment to see things as you see them. Telling the truth lets everyone know what really happened. There's less chances of misunderstandings, confusion, or conflict. If you tell the truth, you have an infinite power supporting you.
Honesty is a trait that contributes to success. Being honest is one step towards accepting oneself and be able to move past obstacles, towards success. Grant now sees the good in what he did, leading to a more positive outlook on life. The hope Grant has for himself and his future is more prominent now that he sees himself as a better person. Grant has newfound faith in himself to succeed after overcoming selfishness.
Arthur Miller demonstrates how a character’s obsession/fixation, can result in being manipulative while committing a grave sin of lust towards a male character. Abigail is Proctor’s past maid, who has a love affair with him. Abigail is able to persuade Proctor into thinking, that he needs sexual desires in his life since his wife is sick and is unable to sexual please him. Abigail states:
Someone once stated,” Tell me the cold truth, but don’t paint me a pretty lie.” As we walk our journey of life, we come to understand that the truth is harsh and yields to no one;moreover, the lie’s hurt increases as it grows. Honesty is important in all situations because eventually the truth shows and people base how they connect you in their life by your honesty or lies.
Honesty plays a vital role in my personal code of ethics requiring integrity, especially in dealing with those near and dear to me. Integrity plays a vital role in my ability to hold myself accountable for any decisions or actions I make.
99% of women and 91% of men in Chicago were honest when it came to putting a dollar down for a cup of lemonade based on the honor system (Honest Tea). Honesty allows for a strengthening of character along with relationships of all kinds. Being unbiased can result in keeping friendships, since neutrality has been chosen instead of certain sides of a disagreement. Another important trait is selflessness.
Stephen L. Carter links integrity and honesty. There are three constraints discussed in this essay. First, integrity does require a degree of moral reflectiveness. Second, Integrity may cause conflict that is must be resolved. It does not necessarily produce or protect interpersonal harmony. Third, a person who has integrity can be trusted. It does not avoid the restructuring of social structures and associations, because it leaves the matter to exercise of interpersonal authority.
The topic of vaccines is something that has caused a lot of controversy for the past couple of years. Although there is scientific evidence as to how immunizations work, concerned parents still disagree and eventually pull their children away from getting any shots. However, this will become a major issue when the child gets enrolled to school. Most schools require vaccines like DTaP in order for the child to be accepted.
Longley is here translating Homer’s text roughly into modern poetry to fit his purposes, and ‘The Butchers’ chronicles the part of the narrative where Odysseus cleanses his household upon returning to Ithaka. The poem is based on The Shankhill Butchers, a Protestant group from the 1970s who dismembered nineteen Catholics in Belfast with butcher knives, then abandoned the bodies.
The Nazis saw Hitler as a man with integrity. We saw Hitler as a cruel unfair man without integrity. Good character and integrity are easiest to demonstrate when facing public disapproval, but the true test comes when you can potentially get away with anything because then nothing is at stake but your own conscience. Trustworthy is very similar to truthfulness, uprightness, and honor. Truthfulness is when a person consistently tells the truth, and is honest. Honor is the equality of being honorable, and to show respect for others. These simple but powerful words are components of integrity.
Gender roles are socially developed, ascribed and embedded into women and men, and as a result differ across cultures, communities, social classes, nations, ages and different periods of history. These include norms and values that are conditioned by the household structure and society as a whole, and women and men absorb these ascribed roles and values of the society around them. This result into learnt behaviour; specific roles and responsibilities are associated and expected from each individual. These roles and responsibilities shift over the course over time. Even though Scott (2006), who investigated the shift in family life, partially agreed the existence of some sort of change in gender role claimed to have been caused by increased secularisation and education, other authors have shown the impact of war on gender roles .
Now let's talk about this topic called Honesty. I would hope this word stands out to all of you, because this is not something little. This is a strong word. This word carries a lot of work. There is no other way to explain it other than be truthful, and not lying. Whether or not you are an honest person
