Running Head: Art Appreciation Essay Art Appreciation Essays The Visual Art Main forms of Visual Art expressions in Surrealism, the movement of 20th century Visual Art can be expressed in various forms. While most forms were discovered before the 20th century, the most prominent ones in the 20th century were "painting, films and photography". These three forms of visual art expressions were not only the prominent forms in the 20th century but also main forms in surrealism, a culturally artistic movement initiated in the 1920. Surrealism was not only an artistic movement, but also an attempt to revitalize creativity and art (The Art Story, 2012). This important movement of the 20th century consisted of three main forms of Visual Art expressions that were painting films and photography. Apart from these forms, the movement was also expressed in writings, poetry and literature e.g. Andre Breton's "Manifeste du surrealisme (1924)". Music was another form of art expression, not visual but nonetheless art, in the surrealism movement of the 20th century. Many song writers and composers were inspired by the movement and thus chose this medium of art expression to support the movement. Some of the famous music artists (including composers and song writers) are, Taileferre and David Honeyboy Edwards (The Art Story, 2012).
