Art is a good way for people to relax and admire the power of human creativity, a lot of pieces of art will make you agape at the beauty of it. However, old art pieces created centuries ago are starting to fall apart. Scientific studies are being conducted on each piece of art trying to figure out how exactly the artist created these masterpieces, and to possibly find a way to stop them from withering away, and to keep them around for many more centuries to come and so many more generations of people can see. Science has some part in everything, even art. There are many different ways science is involved in art, they can conduct a study on what people like in art to try make a new masterpiece, or why people are so infatuated with the older pieces. However, this is not the main studies on art. Old art is falling apart and we need to find a way to fix it. A group of scientists from Italy have started a program called MOLAB in which they go to art galleries across the world and study art pieces. They have looked at countless pieces across the world, and have figured out the many different colors in some art pieces which can range to about 600 different colors; they also find out how many layers of paint are on one painting or on one specific spot. Jason Palmer, a scientist working for MOLAB was working on a newer painting called Victory Boogie Woogie by Piet Mondrian said “ this painting is definitely one of the newest pieces of work i've ever looked at, it is very bright
Art is an incredible medium when used to its fullest potential. What I mean by that is; it has the capabilities to surround the viewer with its imagery and play with the emotions. Paintings are particulary effective in doing this through the use of color tones and ‘temperature’. For example; El Greco used a lot of blue and green throughout his body of work. The outcome is that the subject matter comes off as ghostly and perhaps a little alien. This is in high contrast to Georgia O’Keeffe’s desert paintings, which utilise reds, yellows, and browns to create a ‘warm’ and appealing landscape.
Art is a good observation and it's interesting as well. It lets us think it’s a lesson from the past. It’s also a good benefit to us. Art lets us incorporate techniques into our own experience. I think art wants us to see what the world is like. It wants us to see the image of the people or whatever the image holds and analyze it. It also, lets us observe by looking at events,
Art has been a factor of our life as long as humanity has existed. For thousands of years, art has been created, observed, critiqued, and enjoyed by human beings in many regions across the world. Art aren’t just murals, sculptures, music, books or anything that someone may define as art but more of a bigger picture like if has a deeper meaning such a message or a theme that is looked upon. Art can be viewed at as many different ways in terms of people having different reactions or observing it in a different meaning. Someone could feel that the art work is very extraordinary and unique but someone else can have a different reaction and feel like it is no different than other artworks and have a literalist view upon the art. One art that made
Infrared technology is being used with many historical art pieces as well. Traditional light bulbs usually emit some sort of Infrared light of Ultraviolet rays which, given direct contact to a piece of art work, can damage it. The painting could crack, fade or peel because the light causes the surface of the painting to rise in temperature. In other cases, infrared light can be used to literally see through art work to see what is hiding underneath it. Infrared radiation is close to the visible range, and can be detected using a certain type of camera used to collect infrared CCD images. Even more advanced cameras can detect a bigger range of radiation waves and can produce infrared reflectory images (IRFC). Infrared light can go through the painting’s film and reveal the underdrawing of the art piece (“Visible and Beyond”). This type of technology has brought some Renaissance art back to life. Now art historians can look at historic art pieces
Art in general is a form of expression. Individuals use art to express emotions, passion, or make a statement. Society can have an impact on how an artist chooses to express his or her sentiments. The beauty of it all is that interpretation is what makes art so unique. The same piece of art can mean so many different things due to who is looking at it. Just like everything else, art changes with time. There has been different eras in art that have impacted society as we know it.
I’ve explored these connections in several extracurricular programs relating to art history as well as science and technology. At the American Museum of Natural History, while taking science research courses in astrology and the structure of our universe, I couldn’t help noticing the artistic beauty inherent in the multiple color composites in the solar system that we analyzed. Similarly, at my internship at the Rubin Museum of Art, where I discovered Southeast Asian art and created computer-generated mandalas, I saw spatial patterns and various geometric sequences in the artwork. When I see these connections I get very excited because, honestly, it all makes sense! Art and science are not mutually exclusive concepts; rather, I think the line between the sciences and arts is
Bright colors jumping at you asking for attention, images so real viewers can not tell the difference. These are the thoughts that came to my head as I gazed at two works of art by two Mexican artists at MoLAA museum of art . I visited two museums, Bowers Museum of cultural Art in the heart of Southern California and the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach for my report unfortunately I only liked the works in MoLAA and will talk about it through out my paper. I will talk about two Mexican artists Rafael Cauduro and David Alfaro Siqueros that caught my eye, and made me want to learn more of them and their approach to art. Siqueiros caught my eye and interest because according to his biography “no
Art has been a major outlet for many artist around the world making masterpieces to represent what they see in the world. As generations pass, and we don’t talk about the past art is the connection to remind us of what once was. Visual art helps us connect to the past by using different art forms to show historical events and cultural beliefs/ trends.
These artworks have been a major source of information about art and history in the ancient world.
Art is beautiful. It's always amazing to see all the wonderful things artists can create from simple tools, methods and supplies. Nature, on the other hand, needs nothing to create something spectacular. On a daily basis, we are treated to some of the most beautiful, once in a lifetime pieces of unique art on the planet.
Art is a human construct, it is bound to the artist that creates it just like each person is bound to the age in which they live. Art is as much a part of the artist, as words are part of the person that spoke them. It is the Human Spirit to want to progress from your predecessor, to use your forerunner's knowledge to break away and accomplish more. Art, being intrinsically entertained with the Human Spirit follows this trend. Each style having a base of knowledge from a previous style, but instead of replicating it, taking it further. Thus art reflects the Human Spirit's want to progress as much as it reflects the artist that created it and the time it was created in.
Fine art restoration involves the repair and conservation of paintings, prints, sculptures and more. Any work of art damaged willfully, through negligence, or simply as a result of time passing typically needs to undergo this process. The goal is to return the object to its original condition or as close as one can possibly get. Experts are needed at this time to ensure further damage isn't done to the piece, as this field is constantly improving and new techniques come into play. We here at Stoetzer, Inc. work with fine art every day to ensure the pieces are handled at every stage of the process. Following are some areas we specialize in, although we can work with any piece of art or turn to our network of specialists to assist us in this
Throughout history art has been used to document the occurrences of the time period in which it was created. One may believe that art is nothing more than a painting or drawing; however, art has a much more complex definition as it is never-ending. Art embraces a much wider scope; after all, art can be anything from visual arts (i.e. painting or drawing), photography, sculpture, literature, musical, architecture, etc. Art has the ability to take us one step closer to understanding the people of the past. With the outstanding creations that humans were capable of bringing to life, we are able to better hint at the sense of what was important. Essentially, art is transcending and everlasting – forever creating an imprint, allowing all those who
Art works has played an important role throughout history. Every art work reflects on something. Some reflect on culture, some on society, some arts reflect on religions and believes while some reflects on science. For centuries people believed that the early 14th century art works only reflected on history and religious believes. However, modern science is breaking that stigma and proving the old arts works were a lot more than what people thought they were. They involve a lot more science and math than anyone ever thought of. “Three Angels Visiting Abraham” by Andrey Rublyov and the “Trinity with the Virgin” by Masaccio were both created around the same time. They are both Roman Catholic based art work and expresses similar message.
Creating art is one of the single defining factors that set humans apart from animal species. Through art, humans are able to express their innermost ideas and feelings, without having the difficulty of trying to find the correct words to accurately describe their thought processes. Works of art can help us to understand the people who have come before us. This is evidenced by the knowledge humans have discovered of prehistoric men and their symbolic cave paintings. The expression, style, and meaning vary and archaeologists put in much effort to uncover these works.
