Over the past 50 years there has been many great inventions especially in the healthcare field. I feel the most important is the Artificial Heart that was invented in 1982. In the United States heart disease is the number one cause of death. The artificial heart is a prosthetic device that is implanted into the chest cavity to replace the heart. The device is bigger and heavier than the adult human heart. Artificial hearts help patients regain their health and get ready for a transplant. The artificial heart can be a temporary structure that is places till that patient receives a heart transplant. That time also allows to regain their health before their transplant. In the United States there is a shortage of donor hearts. Around 4,00 people
In the short story The Intelligent Heart, written by Patricia Foster, she created a piece that actually left her readers with an “uncritical awe” and that left her readers contemplating on her idea much deeper. The purpose of this piece was to attain the concept of what an intelligent heart meant and how it should emerge into writers’ personal essays. However, whether or not personal stories were of interest or enjoyable to read anymore was the issue. Foster raised this issue that other writers may have faced as well and it was how she found it challenging to convey her writing and construct it. She stated, “Perhaps it is passé to write about the struggle between temperaments, the duel of consciousness within a family.” She didn’t want to create a piece
Imagine you are laying in a hospital bed connected to multiple machines, IV’s and monitors. The only thing keeping you alive is the heart and lung machine, the team of doctors, nurses and specialist. Even with the help of modern medicine you will only remain alive as long as you stay in that hospital bed; attached to those lifesaving machines. Even with the help of those machines your life is not guaranteed. Now imagine knowing that the only thing that can save your life is a heart transplant, and having to wait your turn on a very long list to get one.
Penicillin and insulin were discovered which allowed the first treatment available for diabetes possible. The Band Aid was invented in 1920 by Earle Dickson. You might think that it is a common sense invention but that is not so. Today you can use band aids from a paper cut or sliver to a deep cut or possibly laceration. The iron lung was a huge advancement in medical technology as it assisted those who could not breath properly and kept them alive like life
The artificial heart supports the body just like a normal heart would, pumping blood around the body. The artificial hearts are used when the original heart is damaged and needs time to recover. The artificial heart can replace the function of the person’s original heart for either a short period of time while a donor heart is being sort or for the duration of the person’s life.
Health care professionals specializing in the cardiovascular system diagnose and treat patients experiencing difficulty with the heart and lungs. Opportunities to work as a member of a cardiovascular team include specialists like a cardiologist, cardiovascular surgeon, clinical cardiac perfusionist, and cardiovascular technician. Each health care professional requires varied experience, but each position is necessary to help patients prevent and recover from potentially life threatening cardiovascular events.
"A Simple Heart" had been written in 1887. Except for the environment, the objectification of women, relegated to a mere source of males' satisfaction, as depicted in these verses, is still a plague. Yes, a plague. We are beaten, humiliated, brutalized daily, in every part of the planet.. I can quote personal experience, but I am not going to bother you. I would like to know why a woman free of express herself is not considered a "wedding commodity"? Hypocrites! Scraping the bottom of the barrel is a typical male
Today there are nearly 5,000 people waiting for a donated heart. There are not nearly enough donated hearts to meet this demand. Unfortunately, many of these patients will die before a suitable heart is ready for them. Giving these patients a custom grown human heart is an option that would save many lives. Until very recently this was just a pipe dream.

A heart valve allows blood to flow in only one direction through the heart. Tissue heart valves are harvested from pig heart valve or a cow heart sac. These tissues are treated, neutralized, mounted on a frame or stent so the body will not reject them. A tissue valve lifetime is 10-15 years. An advantage in a tissue heart valve replacement is that there are fewer requirements for anticoagulation therapy which reduces an incidence of bleeding. Mechanical heart valves are made out of pyrolytic carbon and last up to 20-25 years. A mechanical heart valve requires warfarin anticoagulation therapy and there is a risk for bleeding (Silberman, 2008).
A ventricular assist device (VAD) is a mechanical pump that helps the two lower chambers of the heart (ventricles) pump blood. You may need a VAD if you have a medical condition that affects the heart muscle, such as:
Reading the book by John Ortberg has helped me realize how essential and important it is to meditate on the Word of God. The Lord has been good to me and has been morphing me gently into the person he wants me to be. For this week’s assignment, I have chosen to discipline myself what Ortberg calls having the “simplicity of heart”. Ortberg describes this word as the “alternative to duplicity and to multiplicity” (p 177). Simplicity of heart in other words means setting your heart and your mind on one thing instead of chasing several different things.
Cardiomegaly is also referred to as an enlarged heart. Cardiomegaly is a descriptive term that is used to refer to the findings of an enlarged heart and is not considered a disease itself. This disorder can be caused by a number of different conditions including diseases of the heart muscle or heart valves, high blood pressure, arrhythmias, and pulmonary hypertension. Besides some of the different conditions it may also be accompanied by longstanding anemia and thyroid disease as well as other conditions. Treatments and prognosis are determined by the different causes of an enlarged heart. When it comes to the signs and symptoms of cardiomegaly most often, cardiomegaly causes no real types of symptoms. If an enlarged heart is unable to circulate
The Medical world had many different complex cardiac myocardium information. Medical conditions dealing with the cardiac myocardium and medical tests with using electronical cardio diagrams and the electronic cardio graphs. The information helps with many different connections and functions with patient’s treatment and their progress with their care. My medical knowledge and education with the medical filed as an LPN I have learned many different perspectives and with the complex medical technology. That my patient’s medical diagnostics for their medical conditions. This information is on the heart and the EKG and the ECG structure.
