ashton 's POV

It was cold.

Freezing.

And yet, I was still standing on the side of the road outside of the mall, my sign at my feet and strumming my guitar.

'College Drop-Out. No money or food. Music major. Anything helps, god bless ' it read.

Short, sweet, and stupid.

I 'm a freaking athiest!

Whatever.

"Babe, can you hand me my slushie?" I heard a voice ask. I looked over to the car that was approaching up the small hill.

"Sure, babe." She said, handing him his slushie. I actually didn 't know, but I 'm just guessing here.

"Watch this. It 'll be hilarious" Oh, shit.

I knew what was coming.

Everything seemed to go in slow-motion. He rolled down his window, propelled his arm backwards and threw the contents of his drink on me.

It was fucking cold.

I sighed and gently put down my guitar. As I walked over to a nearby bush to ring the bright red slushie from my matted curls, I heard the brakes on the car squeal.

"WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!" The girl screamed. She had pulled around the corner and onto the side of the road to scream at her boyfriend. Unfortunetly, they were about 20-30 feet away. I heard every word.

"What? It was funny!" Her boyfriend countered.

"THAT WAS NOT FUNNY, HARRY. THAT WAS HORRIBLE!" She roared.

"What 's the big deal? He 's just some homeless guy." 'Harry ' said.

"What 's the big deal? WHAT 'S THE BIG DEAL?!" She screeched.

"Oh, no. Not this again." He groaned.
