When it comes to political ideology, liberalism is most consistent with my personal beliefs. Liberals have a high regard for individuals living freely, being happy, and making personal choices without the government involvement (Ruth, 2016). A large believe of liberal is that government should exist for judicial, military, and protection of people. Government should be smaller in some ways and too much political power can cause greater harm than good (Murphy, 2016). Government plays a significant role in everyday life beyond judicial system control. Some of the involvement is good, others not so much. The greatest ethical motivator for having primary liberal views is the belief in autonomy. Autonomy is the right to self-determine. The
Liberalism is the best ideology for Canada’s government and is a good combination of both Socialism and Conservatism. Liberalism takes the finer parts from both ideologies to create a better form of government. Canadians now have a choice in which ideology they like better by this compromised form of government. The centre of the spectrum and the equilibrium of government and individual ownership is the definition of Liberalism.
The second point is that liberalism upholds the principle of equality for all regardless of name, social status, and gender, racial, cultural, or ethnic background. Liberalists advocate for a level playing ground which calls for the government to strictly control the economy and also have more power in the social arena so as to protect people from economic exploitation. Liberalists strongly push for controlled corporations, an economy that is well
Liberal Perspective: For the liberal’s perspective they believe in equal opportunity and equal rights for everyone. Liberals are mainly democratic, which is why some of the things that democrats believe, they believe as well, mainly because both of those parties think the system should help more. For example, when it comes to homelessness from both a democratic and liberal stand view you can see that they both are in the interest of helping them. However, in a liberal’s eye, they believe that social issues happen because there should be more help from the system as far as funding goes.
Liberalism is a major ideology in the world. Liberalism is changing at a constant rate as it is adapting to new views as the world is changing. Furthermore, the goal of the Liberalism is to ensure that “Liberal ideology is a commitment to the individual and the desire to construct a society… [Where] people can satisfy their interest and achieve fulfilment… Liberals [also] believe that human beings are, first and foremost, individuals” (Heywood 24). Liberals want to create a society in which people can achieve their goals, and where there are free to do what they please. That all individuals have the right to shape their future, and that each individual should have equal rights in both legal and political matters. There are two major types of
Liberalism started with the ideas of the Enlightenment. Two of these ideas were freedom of speech and freedom of the individual, and kept growing from there. Liberalism is the belief in a small central government and no monarchy. The liberalists defended the ideas of the definitive rights of an individual’s liberty, equality and property. The liberalists wanted their government to be established on written laws and a constitution based on equality.
People that fall into the liberal category believe that the government should have the goal of equality providing opportunity for its entire people and that a strong central government is needed to keep order because people
A definition of the word liberal is: “believing that government should be active in supporting social and political change: relating to or supporting political liberalism.”
Conservatives and Liberals are two different political parties that have similarities, and differences. According to the Student News Daily website, Liberals believe in government action to achieve equal opportunity and equality for all. It is the duty of the government to get rid of social problems and to protect civil liberties, and individual and human rights. Conservatives believe “in personal responsibility, limited government, free markets, individual liberty, traditional American values and a strong national defense.” Liberal policies generally emphasize the need for the government to solve problems. Conservative policies generally emphasize empowerment of the individual to solve problems.
Liberals are on the very far left side of the spectrum, gay rights, complete separation of church and state, pro-abortion and basically against anything that requires a person to acknowledge. For example you can think of Hollywood being Liberal, save the earth, promiscuity, relaxed laws, and ACLU, things of that nature. Liberals equals to personal freedom and government assistance of
Liberalism as an ideology revolves around the idea of freedom for the individual. The reason for this is due to the liberal’s view of human nature; they see the human being as unique and rational; able to make decisions in their best interest. Although all liberals agree on individual freedom, when it comes to the role of the state they are split down the middle. On one side there are the classic liberals who believe in as little state intervention as possible, and on the other side there is the modern liberals who believe state intervention is necessary as it can develop people and create equal opportunity. When looking at a liberal view of the state it
The Liberal Party of Australia believes in the rights and freedoms of all people, supporting the minimisation of interference in the everyday lives of Australian citizens. They promote equal opportunity for all Australians and the encouragement and facilitation of wealth so that all may enjoy the highest possible standards of living, health, education and social justice. The Liberal Party believes that wherever possible, government should not compete with an efficient private sector, and that businesses and individuals instead of government are the creators of wealth and
What does it mean to be a liberal? What does it mean to be conservative? Being a liberal means you believe in liberalism which means you support a more active role of the government; it is defined by Webster dictionary as the belief in the value of social and political change in order to achieve progress. On the other hand being a conservative means you believe in conservatism which means you support a greater reliance on the free market; however, it is also defined by Webster dictionary as a belief in the value of established and traditional practices in politics and society. Although there is confusion and misconception of what these people are Liberals and conservatives actually have many differences far more than any similarities. Liberals and conservatives have different views on issues and political philosophies, but they both share a similarity; they both believe in hierarchies as an organizing principle of society.

Liberalism is a collection of political, social and economic philosophies that is centered around the rights of personal liberties, civil rights, economic freedom, controlled and democratic government and the rule of law. A controlled and democratic government is instrumental to liberalism. A controlled government is one restricted by the law. The most common example of this can be found in the United States Constitution. The Constitution has outlined the roles and restrictions of each branch of government while also setting a system of checks and balances.
