Group 1 consists of Deon Logan, Deena Stewart-Hitzke, and Stephen Hand As we navigate the requirements of this course, its many rooms, and assignments, each of our members has agreed to take specific roles in order to ensure that our team is successful. The roles are primarily defined by who is, and who is not, assigned to complete assignments during a given week. Individuals who are responsible for assignments during the week will complete the assignment in conjunction with those guidelines provided by the associated room. Assignments are due on Monday, in order to allow the team to teach, review, and learn from each other. Group members who do not have assignments will serve to support and critique the work of the others. Our norms
When this class started at the beginning of this semester I was not sure I would learn a lot. The main objectives of this class were fairly simple. There were five main objectives to use and know. They are the following:
1. Come to class on a regular basis. 2. Make sure that when we miss class that we contact the others in our group and instructor. It is our own responsibility to contact the group for any updates/notes or anything missed from class or group meeting. 3. Work on group assignments collaboratively and ask for input from the other groups as needed or the instructor to further move along to accomplish goal/assignments. 4. Meeting time/place: Schaumburg or Hoffman Estates ??? TBD 5. Switch roles per assignment: The following roles will be
I agree with you that assessments in a group is essential to understand the functioning of the group members. Also, I believe that it is important to assess individual members as well as the group as a whole. As a group facilitator we must constantly gather pertinent information that will be used to achieve the individuals and groups goals. Assessing the group helps to make the group more cohesive and beneficially to the members. You made a great point that understanding the characteristics of the group members can help improve group participation. I do believe that if a member is not participating does not mean that they are not benefiting from the group. Also, having a member that monopolize the group does not they are
Attendance and participation is mandatory. Our lectures and discussions ARE the course. Assigned readings are not optional either, as they are the substance behind the form of the classroom interaction: if you don’t have one, the other doesn’t materialize. The course consists of two one hour and fifteen minute sessions per week, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 4:30 until 5:45.
You may work in a group of up to one people. Any clarifications and revisions to the assignment will be posted on the course Web page.
Next, as a group, we decide how to present the information in front of the class. This assignment strengthens my research skills, communication, problem-solving decision-making and the ability to take criticism. My improvement in these area has allowed me to be effective in further my education, as a union delegate, as a client advocate and an effective leader in my
Question 1 - Would you grant any of the special requests of the four expat candidates? Provide your rationale.
From day one, I noticed the relative ease of the course. The two friendly instructors welcomed the entire class, and they presented the material in a simple and comprehensible manner. The small, four-room classroom accompanied a total of eight students
An important part of our learning and growing experience must stem from our ability to analyze and reflect upon the groups that we have been members in. This reflection can define our understanding of the weaknesses both in ourselves and in the others within our group; and it can help to shape the way that we act in future groups. Adjusting ourselves to compensate for our weaknesses, based upon an honest and thorough examination of our actions within a group setting, is one of most important thing for any person to do. It is only through this evaluation that we can improve ourselves and our interactions with others. This paper will examine a group that was required to make an important decision about adding a new member
The start of class we began with a group exercise to practice with our breathing and our interaction with our classmates. We had arrive and say the person’s name with ease. It was an exercise to make sure to you knew everyone. How your you react and how the breath takes a part of your speech once you speak. My experience with this exercise was I felt I was not taking the time to breathe, where I would just say the person’s name.
Interest Groups There are thousands of interest groups all over the world. All of them ranging from different belief systems, strong subject matters, personal opinions, and more. Amazing individuals find something that they are passionate about, and they start a group with other people who are also passionate about the same thing. These groups normally form because something they care about is being threaten, or because something is happening that they don’t agree with. So then interest groups began and the individuals come together to have one voice and speak out their opinion. However, starting one up on your own and getting people to join could present a challenge.
Working in groups isn't the easiest thing to do. A lot of the time there's conflicts of interest on the future of the group, but working in groups also teaches you basic life skills like patience, cooperative and learning how to compromise. Back in high school, I was the President of the Student Against Destructive Descisions group. On a bi-weekly schedule, we would have meetings. Prior to these meetings, myself and others in the leadership position would discuss topics of these meetings. There were many disagreements, but for the most part, it was a friendly environment. It was enjoyable when things went right. It was challenging to get everyone on the same page. Some people were just in the club for credit and didn't care to make an effort
In group discussion, I further explored key concepts like data validity, types of data, and collection strategies. I demonstrated professional flexibility by offering potential limitations created by the data sets my peers had collected.
I’ll admit, English is not my favorite subject. I don’t have a problem with writing, and at times I write for pleasure, however reading seems to bore me. When I was younger, I liked reading, but over the years, it has become something that my teachers force me to do, and it lost my interest. Maybe it could’ve been from the required reading and writing logs, but now I read because I know I have to; not for my own amusement. Despite my animosity of reading, there were two books that stood out for me more than others in this past year. Both selections were assigned to read in our class "book groups". It's unusual that these are the stories that I’ve enjoyed most in the past year, because typically students dislike reading groups. They think they're
Each week we will have an online discussion of the material assigned – text chapters, videos, audios, articles, etc. ‐‐by your instructor. These discussions are for the purpose of exploring the assignments, the ideas presented, your
