On the outside looking in, it might have appeared as though I was the older brother out taking fielding practice with the younger kid brother while waiting on the rest of the team to arrive. In actuality, though, I was the team’s head coach. While this seemed a bit unorthodox, as my mom was having to drive me to my team’s practice, this did not deter me from investing in my kindergarten-aged players. As a young fifteen year old, I quickly learned that I would be able to play ball with the kids but I would have to also be able to balance the expectations of parents, interact with other team coaches, and be a voice of reason on game day. Coaching first-year players is often times similar to herding cats. Each boy clamors to bat first or
With each throw to home plate he felt a little bit more pain. Instead of resting him Mark Hyman sent his son out to pitch the very next game. Stories like these are not uncommon with anyone who child has played on any team. Over the last few years, adults have taken over kid’s sports. Many children under the age fifteen required medical treatment for sports injuries and nearly half of them are only the result of simple overuse. The quest to turn children into superstar’s are taken a toll on their

Zanesville would get a 19-yard catch by Andrew Everson and then a 17-yard run by Murphy to give the impression that their offense was ready to turn it on. Then with 2:49 left in the half Everson would get sacked by Marques Sherman for
Even the air was trembling. The gym was filled with a mixture of nervous and urgent, and all we need was another basket to break the deadlock. The score was 19-36, nearly 2 minutes left, however, the unstoppable cheering was still there, as well as our spirits. None of the girls on the court gave up, though we were not close to winning; every one of our eyes were blazed sharp and focusing, waiting for another steal or chance to shoot. In brief, before the timer buzzed, we would never give up on our game---which is the most valuable spirit in CCA sports. Our girls basketball game has the power of inspiration, because though they didn’t win, they supported each other with encouragement when difficulties come. All they do is to turn the failures
My Dad and my grandfather never share a lot of time together when my dad was growing up. Nevertheless something that they both shared was the ability to play the sport of baseball. This particular sport became instead of money and property that is what the majority of people give to their children. Baseball became the family heritage that my grandparent taught to my dad and my dad taught to me. Consequently I growing up all my life playing baseball. The ability to play baseball gave me the opportunity to be the captain on various occasion with different teams. Being at this position made me in the role of being a leader among my teammates. Being a leader required pay attention to all details don’t matter how simple or difficult they are. So, at this stage of my life I had the chance to learn that in baseball all the players are called teammates because obviously they are in the same team, but not everybody would be considerate teammates. The different style of baseball players can’t affect the relationship and development of other personal players that consequently
Everyone has been on some type of team such as a sports team to a work team, to even a team for a project. The success of any team is dependent on the weakest link in the chain.

In his autobiography Life Lessons from Little League, Vincent Fortanasce says “Winning is never final, and losing is never fatal.” At the end of a game, one team will win and the other will lose. Failure to accept this concept has become detrimental to American youth sports organizations. Our society has become infatuated with winning, and all of the additional perks associated with it. What is considered the “best” for children as young as five years old has grown to an unrealistic extent. Parents want their children to be in a reputable organization, young athletes want to play with highly skilled teammates, and coaches want to recruit talented players all in hopes of being the absolute “best”. The amount of young athletes, ranging from five to fourteen years old, participating in local sports organizations has declined within the last two decades due to the highly competitive and unhealthy environments they are being exposed to.Taking pride in your local community has decreased form an athletic point of view. Representing the place I grew up in was a motivating factor when I put my uniform on for every single softball game I played in high school. I had the privilege to play on the field next to girls I had grown to love the sport with ever since our tee ball days. Today, young athletes are branching out from their homegrown roots to play for club teams who recruit players from a larger region. The popularity of traveling teams has substantially diluted the

Sportsball is a perfect information style board game in which the player is tasked with purchasing and assembling a team of multiple different units who each their own unique ability in order to score their sportsball in the opponent's end zone. During the development of this game I handled board design along with helping to design and balance some of the units that were featured in the final build of the game namely the passer.
