ii. Communications 1. Communication was limited. The primary means was by field wire but it took a great amount of resources to install especially since the corps commander's headquarters was so far away. Additionally, the life expectancy of wire could be as little as three days if uninsulated. Radio communications were used during the battle. However, the shortage of batteries, the number of people who had access to radios, and their restricted range limited their value in controlling maneuver forces. If the commander’s radio failed or if his tank was hit, manual signals had to be utilized. The poor communications often resulted in long delays in getting important information to the II Corps and 1st Army Commanders. The result was that decisions were made too late to allow the forces on DJ Ksaira and DJ Lessouda to withdraw to alternate defensive positions. 2. Communications security was practiced to some degree at least by Fredendall. An example of a message he telephoned to CCB was “Move your command, that is, the walking boys, pop guns, Baker's outfit and the outfit which is the reverse of Baker's outfit and the big fellows to M, which is due …show more content…
Fredendall was known as a brassy, outspoken, imprecise in speech corps commander, who had a firm opinion on every subject. He personally disliked Anderson and apparently had little understanding of that British procedures for emplacement of forces. Furthermore, Fredendall had no confidence in and little patience with the French. He was outspoken in his opinions of allied forces and was inclined to be critical of superiors and subordinates alike. But, of all his characteristics, perhaps the most fatal to the 1st Armored Division was his air of finality. His perceptibly excessive emphasis on security and safety of his command post, which he located far to the rear and seldom left to visit the front; and his open dislike for and reluctance to allow the 1st Armored Division Commander the opportunity to

The AN/PRC's (Army/Navy Portable Radio Communications) of the day made for a heavy pack and they had long antennas. Snipers would target the Comms guy. The radio person was glued to the platoon leader and the radio was the only contact with the world. Air strikes/air support, Dust Off, and supply requests all went through the radio guy, along with Intel on enemy size and movement.
Effective communication is important so there are a number of strategies that can be used to make it easily understood and improve the effectiveness of the communication. positive communication in a classroom will help the children feel comfortable in your presence your own communication must always be positive and use language that will be understood by children and young people. The Civil War was very hard on families, causing most of them to sacrifice people in their families, most families had all of the young men in their family taken out of their jobs on farms and factories. This left the women and children to tend to the large farms and hold the weight of the house. Also, since the demand for supplies for the war increased it created more jobs for the people to fill which forced more people into labor. It also effected families personally, having their sons/brothers in war was constantly nerve racking and scary, every day they were constantly dreading receiving any news or letters, fearing the life of their family members.
Billie, I love when people who are communicating information to people are clear and direct with what they want to say. It seems like your former boss was a great communicator and knew what she was doing. There is a fine line between being a good boss and a bad one, and I feel communication is a huge part in that. The fact that she kept in contact with you goes to show that her communication skills are still great.
Communication was another interesting situation which favored Washington’s army. There were difficulties on the British side because they hired Hessian soldiers who only spoke German. Most of the British soldiers could only speak english. The Generals also spoke several different languages amongst themselves. William Howe gave orders is English and French; Johann Rall didn't speak French or English, but only rough German, and talked to his soldiers in a Hessian dialect; Von Donop wrote letters in French to the English while using German to the Hessians, but spoke no English; Stirling talked to Highlanders in Gaelic and wrote in English to his superiors. Therefore, there was a lot of confusion when it came to making plans and having a fully
During the Great War, the Army predominantly used the oldest of intelligence techniques. Espionage was dangerous and often lead to the death of those soldiers and spies behind enemy lines. The time to deliver important and relevant information to the front lines took time. The first large-scale use of Army radio intelligence
The scene in which a man and a woman talk over the phone and then decide to meet up in real life only for the man to discover the woman is not what he expected was interesting due to its parallels to issues of modern dating sites. It illustrates the sense of immediacy that was initially felt regarding the telephone. The man assumed that he knew what the woman looked like even though all he heard was a disembodied voice. It was not until he met up with her that he could acknowledge the medium through which they communicated. It was also funny to see that, despite the great advances made in technology, we still face the same issues after over a century.
The socialization process for the Army usually occurs when soldiers are sent off to basic training for weeks to be broken down as human beings and then rebuilt the way the Army wants them. In the same way as sociologists view socialization, the purpose of Basic or a Cadet Leader's Course is for the members to develop a sense of their self as a soldier and learn the ways of the society in which they will be serving. The socialization process is different for cadets who are in college. They are not sent off to basic but instead have training during school all year and then summer training that is similar to basic. First cadets are sent to a Cadet Leader's Course and then the next year they are sent to Officer Candidate School (OCS). However, cadets begin training the first week of school, so the socialization process is already started long before the summer of next year. Soldiers are socialized into the group by first learning how to wear uniforms. The first day I wore a headband that was against Army uniform standards and was told by my captain to lose the headband. Cadets were then assigned identity groups or companies known as Alpha and Bravo. My group was Alpha and then we were given a subgroup within that group known as Two Alpha. During every PT we stood in lines of four based on rank from front to back with squad team leaders always on the far right. Then as a group, cadets would perform PT together and we always finished with the company motto with the company
Communication is one of the most important and valuable skills we have developed as human beings. It is the basis for how we connect with each other globally and shape the people we are today. Without effective communication, we would not be able to build productive relationships, express our cultural values, or most importantly, voice our thoughts. As we grow, we learn and develop our unique form of communication. Whether we are strong public speakers or prefer an interpersonal approach, it is important to find what type of communication is best suited for us, so we can appropriately and effectively use communication to our advantage. There are several different aspects that make us effective communicators, and knowing our strengths and weaknesses in theses categories will give us a comparative advantage on how to properly communicate on an interpersonal level. In this paper, I will discover the type of communicator I am, what I am good at, and what I can work on, to become an excellent interpersonal communicator.
This platoon is a family and as a family we should work as such no questions asked when something needs to be completed as an nco I need to complete the mission first at all times to get it accomplished in a timely manner and ensure that it is completed to standard from LT to pvt everyone should police themselves to accomplice the task at hand if ssg parou needs something completed by Thursday it is because someone above him needs it as well and we should never put our team member or leadership in a position where they are embarrassed or talked down to because an nco couldn’t complete their tack at hand and as an nco there should be no excuse to why you can complete a simple task that is why I am an nco to lead by example.
Communication can be conveyed in a plethora of different ways, whether it is a debatable topic between individuals a group of individuals, a problem or issue discussed in a relationship, or every day conversation between friends. Regardless of the situation, the information must be communicated, and perceived, accurately in order for the discussion to yield the intended result. According to “What is Communication?” (2013), “the discipline of communication focuses on how people use messages to generate meanings within and across various contexts, cultures, channels, and media” (para 1). Information can be transferred by using numerous different communication methods such as verbal communication, written
