Assignment 5-1 The concept of control is used in everyone’s personal life. Each and every day we face circumstances where control comes into play. Some people way have more control than others, but it is up to you to control and maintain each situation. We use feed forward, concurrent, and feedback controls as well as specific controls in different aspects of our lives. Each of these types of controls is used multiple times throughout each and every day. The most important control, in my opinion, would be the feed forward control. The textbook states that feed forward control is “Control that takes place before a work activity is done” (Robbins, pg. 355 ). If we are able to take control of a situation before it even occurs then it leaves us better off. There are plenty of examples of where I have taken action to prevent a situation from occurring in the future. In school, I always make up plans and schedules to complete my school work to prevent getting behind and/or not being able to complete school work. Sometimes I get very busy …show more content…
The textbook states that feedback control is “Control that takes place after a work activity is done” (Robbins, pg. 356). I use feedback control at McDonalds at least once a day for sure. For example, today I had a customer come back inside after they received an order through the drive thru that was not theirs. In this case, I had to make sure the customer had his receipt so that I was able to have the order completely remade for them. I corrected the problem by having the order made fresh for him and I gave him two coupons for a free sandwich at a later purchase. He was pleased with it being taken care of quickly and the feedback control was successful. Feedback control is also used a lot in relationships. For example, when a husband and wife argue about something, they end up talking it through and moving on from the situation. This is solving the problem after the problem has already
3. What type of bank risk would worry you the most as an account holder? How should the bank protect itself against that risk? (2-4 sentences. 1.0 points)
What services do you offer? Will I have a formal written agreement or contract with you? What if I can 't afford to pay your fees or make contributions? In addition to helping me solve my immediate problem, will you help me develop a plan for avoiding problems in the future?
I believe that Excel can enhance the younger generations math learning skills. I think that as long as the basic math skills of calculating numbers are learned and mastered first, then Excel can be of a great benefit in the development of the critical thinking skills that are necessary to implement all of the different formulas. I believe that this kind of critical thinking that is required to realize how to formulate the data is a very important skill to develop. I do think that the younger generations and everyone else's calculating skills become a "little rusty" because of continually relying on Excel to do all of the calculating instead of doing the math out longhand, but this can occur even through the use of calculators. I think Excel
After reading the above statement, did you miss any species in your gut content sampling? If so, which ones?
The second aspect of management used to investigate the issue is Controlling. Control is a concern that is facing every manager in every organisation today. Many businesses continually look to improve relationships between all levels of staff in order for a healthy working environment. To effectively control a business the organisation requires information about
To be able to have control over a situation, first you need to have control over yourself. We can use as an example Stephen King´s novel Cujo written in 1981. In the book, Donna Trenton´s four year-old son dies and the reason for that is because Donna wasn´t able to grasp control of the situation. Her desperation didn´t allow her to think clearly and she never actually stopped and tried to figure out a solid plan, she just did everything as she went along. If Donna had been able to have control over herself and stop her desperation from clouding her mind, she might have been able to
Another example of control I see in my life is the automated teller windows inside the credit union. The tellers are sitting in a back office, so there is no face to face contact. You fill out a bank slip and put it in the pneumatic tube for the teller to receive. She completes the
Controlling is monitoring the performance of the organization, identifying deviations between planned and actual results, and taking corrective action when necessary. With all these four functions that are involved in the process of management, if all are followed correctly the organization will be properly ran and will have few complications.
Action control is more specific than result control. It focuses on the process of the whole thing while result control is focuses on the result. To use action control, it is difficult for managers to distinguish good or bad behaviors, because the processes and jobs are so varied. Action control also may limit employees’ creativity
I believe that control is merely an illusion that we like to believe we have. In one of Dr. Caulder's sessions with Ethan, the guards are asked to leave and soon Dr. Caulder is held captive by Ethan and is demanded to write down what he has lost. Dr. Caulder answers “control” but Ethan says no and asks a few more times. Finally realizing what Ethan is talking about, Dr. Caulder writes down “illusion.”Ethan then explains how we only have the illusion of having
Effective control systems use mechanisms to monitor activities and take corrective action, if necessary. The supervisor observes what happens and
Controls are measuring sticks to see if the desired goals are being met. Successful managers create parameters for their employees and implement controls within a criteria to confirm if the job is being done to standard. Case in point, I give quarterly performance counseling’s to each subordinate in my department on performance, being efficient at the job and using problem solving techniques. Controls to an extent border along the lines of micromanaging, but it can also be used to emphasize how well the subordinate is doing too. All quarterly counseling’s are not corrective in nature, but it is a great assessment tool for exceptional job performance as well. The usage of controls is part of my responsibility as a supervisor to ensure the goals are being achieved to standard.
A good control system provides timely information to the manager which is very much useful for taking various decisions. Control simplifies supervision by pointing out the significant deviations from the standards of performance. It keeps the subordinates under check and brings discipline among them.
A large reason that individuals resist control is due to over control, or the attempt by the organization to regulate too many things. People also tend to struggle when the concentration of control is unfitting or when they dread too much accountability. There are numerous methods managers can use to minimize opposition to change. If a good control system and accurate controls are implemented from the beginning, employees are less likely to resist the system. Individuals are more likely to adhere to controls if they are contributors to their design and
According to Cole, G. A. (2007) control is essentially a question of developing feedback systems throughout the organization and may be implemented both
