The summer is upon us and seniors want to get out and about before the seasons and weather changes again. Those living in Savannah, Georgia, face a double-edged sword in the summer. Savannah is an ancient city as far as North American cities go. Dating back to 1733, Savannah was the first city of the state General James Oglethorpe named after England's King George II. Modern Savannah still holds much of the traditional colonial charm and architecture. Many seniors may have lived in Savannah or the surrounding area most of their lives and never taken the time to take an architectural tour of Savannah; now is the time. Do it on your own, or hire a tour guide, just get out and admire the city. Savannah is one of the most haunted cities in America. Perhaps it is because it was built on Native American burial grounds, or because the ghosts of slaves, tragic war victims, and those who succumbed to epidemics and hurricanes never found a way to leave.
