Using Assistive Technology tools, people with dementia can remain independent for as long as possible. It is important for a person with dementia who can take care themself when they are alone.

An assistive technology device can be an item, software system, or piece of equipment used to increase, improve, or maintain the functional capabilities of a student with disabilities. It can help a person with a disability complete tasks they need to perform on a daily basis. Assistive technology services serve to directly assist students with disabilities in the selection or use of an assistive technology device. For some students with disabilities, assistive technology is important because they would not be able to benefit form their educational program. Assistive technology is a part of the Individualized Education Plan for each student. The educational team for the student must ask if there is a device that will improve their functional capabilities. If the educational team discovers that the child could benefit from a device that fits that description, the school district is required to provide the service along with training to use the device (Lewis, 1998).

Many people have devices to help make their lives easier, whether it's a small difference or a large one. Some devices can do many things, like a phone can make calls or get on the internet. Other forms of technology have a greater impact on our lives, for example, medical equipment. Ray Bradbury demonstrates technologies advantages for humans’ everyday lives through “The Veldt” and “The Pedestrian.”

In these chapters, it covered handling emergencies and the effects on driver's condition. When handling emergency there can be many scenarios like vehicle malfunctions, driver errors roadway hazards, and collisions. Mechanical equipment needs to be maintained to run effectively. This includes your car, especially since you rely on your vehicle to get you to work, school or to drive your children around town. When you don't maintain your vehicle with a regular tune-up, you can run into serious problems that could cost thousands to repair.

Assistive technology can be defined as devices or systems that help and support a person in order to maintain their independence, as well as their safety and wellbeing. It also refers to devices and systems which can assist of people who suffer form memory problems or other cognitive difficulties,than those which need to aid someone with mobility as well as physical difficulties. Technology can provide dementia sufferers the help and support that they need in order to remain independent,safe and socially involved.

The ability to own a car seems to make life a little sweeter. You have the ability to travel where you want, and you can travel when you want to travel. Although many may grapple about the occasional repair or the need for roadside assistance every now and then, all in all, owning a car makes life a bit easier.

This paper was a real eye opener for me on how each of the titles of the ADA must be implemented in a facility. For this assignment, I decided to do it in Miami Dade College fitness center. Once I was there I noticed that each of the room number board have a brailed system which allow blind individuals to know what room number it is.
