It was a most memorable experience and truly enjoyable leaning more about Assurant. The conversations shared with Assurant’s leaders provided insightful advice and tips that will help develop my professional career. As life, the one thing that will be evermore present, is change. Throughout the Q&A, “change”, was a big topic of discussion and quite often re-visited during other questions. It is true, that business today is not the same as business before. Change is what drives innovation and new ideas, the very foundation for prosperous companies, as their ability to adapt is the reason they stand at the forefront of their industry. Assurant has proven that they embrace change and that they encourage it, which can be seen through the openness of the executive’s conversations and initiatives like “Ask Alan”. Colberg’s background. Mr. Colberg’s background story touched me, as I come from a small farming family that moved to the United States for greater opportunities. Knowing and hearing someone speak about their past and upbringing from a humble beginning to CEO of a Fortune 500 company, provides hope that success is possible through perseverance and hard work. Most importantly, his personality that was present during the luncheon was quite amiable and supportive, which is truly inspiring and amazing. The luncheon has provided me an experience that will remain with me forever, as the influence and words spoken on that afternoon, display that a person’s character is extremely valuable. Leadership is difficult to define. Leadership is a concept that probably carries many different reactions with many different kinds of people. However, we all feel we know good leadership when we see it, and we can often tell when good leadership is missing by the way a team or organization struggles without it. Ask yourself, Are you willing to do absolutely anything for the common good for your employer, your teammate, your family, your friend?
The definition of leadership comes from within each person. Every person has his or her own interpretation of how a leadership should be defined. This definition most likely comes from past experiences under leadership or being the leader. My personal definition is very lengthy because I feel like leadership is very important.

The York University/Sheridan College Program in Design (YSDN) is the first and largest program in Ontario that offers the Bachelor of Design Honours degree. YSDN’s strenghts derive from the combination of a large research university, and an institution known for pushing creativity and innovation. After nearly two decades of an incredible run, news about the joint program’s discontinuation has been publicized. The fall 2018 incoming class will be the final class of YSDN as the program discontinues in 2022.
What insights have I gained about my role as an educational leader from these chapters?
When looking back on my contributions to my community and society, the thought of me becoming a certified Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) basketball coach comes to mind. After completing an interview along with certification courses, I became the head coach of a 6th grade basketball team at St. Aloysius in Bowling Green, Ohio. I classify this as a contribution to society because I made it my mission to help my players grow as both basketball players and as young men. It was my job to relay the abundance of basketball and life information I had accrued throughout the years. I took this volunteer-based position very seriously due to the importance of basketball in my life. Growing up, I had always been blessed with coaches who put developing young men and their character over anything dealing with basketball. The simulation is based on a company called Smith & Falmouth(S&F), who requires assistance to provide the company with conceptual information about the organization structure and to provide specific recommendation to be successful in the next three years. I have always thought that leaders are only for people who have the ability to lead others in a meaningful way. Before reading chapter 2, I did not know that leaders could be an emergent and assigned and thought leaders were born with certain characteristics including self-confidence, smart and many more. Therefore, I have doubted myself to be a leader someday since I lack those traits.
The Leadership Advisory Council is off to a slower start than we originally anticipated. In order to make up for this, Tucson Village Farm will begin promoting the council on social media in hopes of attracting more applicants. In addition, the client does not want any random people who have no farm experience to be on the council, so those people will not be accepted if they apply. In addition, we have removed the mandatory $35 fee until the Leadership Advisory Council has 25 members. Instead of this fee, council members will be asked to donate $35 to Tucson Village Farm, but it will not be mandatory.

I feel that the most important leadership trait in your business life is forming good relationships. You must form a good relationship with people in order to become a leader. If you build on a broken relationship then you will not gain that person's trust and they will not want to follow you. If you build a good relationship with someone then trust, respect, credibility and many other traits will also be part of your leadership style.
Successful policy managers have certain characteristics and skills that enable them to carry out their management duties effectively. The best managers should motivate their athletes and come up with viable innovations for the benefit of their team or sport.
