Witness this ankle biter. He's just learning to breath fire with forever closing eyelids. Defending the judgements he alligiant to. Screaming, believing he's a fawn lead astray consumed by thick knotted red clay Those in prayer are his prey. We weep for souls forever on their knees in the holy city. With no sympathy for bigotry and misguided belief Dazzling dime-piece fodder, peddled by a proctor, amongst a patch of tigers. She's maintaining a lifestyle she's accustomed to. She's accustomed to winning each and every pardon or spreading ashes 'cross the garden. Slumped over in the parlor with no water to tread. A gold calf, unimpressed. The casting of spells could be all she cares for. But, the sneakiest snake charmer who wears currency
In the Poem “To this Day” by Shane Koyczan is a spoken word poem that is about a kid thinking pork chops and karate chops are the same things and the words spread around school and people start making fun of him. “The word spread through the school that I thought karate chops were pork chops and I got my first nickname pork chops and from this day forward I hate pork chops”. This proves my point because the kids throw the rest of the year called him pork chops. Also made fun of him throughout every year of
“Peter Piper” is an original song by Run D.M.C. and from this J. Simmons and D. McDaniels took a couple verses out and edited them to be used in school text book across the United States. The song was founded in 1986 and from there it was put into our text book in the poetry section because, even though people don 't realize it, rap is poetry and can teach youth about things they may or may not have experienced. Founded in 1981, Run D.M.C. was and still is considered by many to be a popular rap group. Run D.M.C. is part of the original group of people who elevated rap music from an inner-city slums mixtape to a nation wide movement; this being the reason rap music is around and
While reading and examining poems and plays it is imperative that one must understand the concepts behind how to correctly, efficiently, and strategically analyze and evaluate them. In order to accurately analyse and evaluate poems, plays, and songs readers must examine its words and phrasing from the perspectives of rhythm, sound, images, obvious meaning, and implied statements. Readers then must organize responses to the verse into a logical, point-by-point explanation. A fine commencement when analyzing and or evaluating poems and plays includes starting with some background information on the story in order to give it some context, followed by the major theme or focus in the composition along with an explanation. Primarily, a piece of
The Wanderer and The Dream of the Rood are two Old English poems that demonstrate the link between lord and thane. This bond, also known as the comitatus, is highlighted with imagery to effectively portray the physical intimacy involved. The idea that everything is fleeting is emphasized to show the significance of the comitatus. Furthermore, the beauty of the relationship is shown by contrasting the shame that the Wanderer feels at the end of the poem to the honour and glory that is thrown upon the cross after it willingly suffers along with Christ. In all, the ideals of the comitatus during the Medieval Times are clearly advocated through the illustration of the physical intimacy, shame and honour involved in the two poems.
The poet is disheartened with both the facts. He says that the soldier that fight, especially in the vanguard of the army, have funerals with the rejections of all rituals, for example, no flowers, no candles and not even their dead bodies. He concludes that first the soldiers are not sent but forced to fight in the war and then when they die their funeral is carried out for formality with no respect or even sympathy. He calls these rituals "mockeries" in a bitter and furious tone in the octet of the sonnet and the choruses "shrill, demented" and compares it to the falling of bullets of machine guns on the ground when he says "wailing shells"
A Dream Deffered: A dream someone had that got put off and what happens to It
Left Overs I taste so good, my left overs do too… I may have reheated him a time or few, But throw him out right after I’m through, And watch women flock around the trashed stew… He’ll always want to be a part of my steak, And that’s the reason other women hate, On me because they’ll never escape, My left overs still wanting my plate, But to my left overs, these women race, To a meal that has long lost his taste,
Beginnings of great things, some of a great evil type: the terrible horrors that nobody likes to think of, some of the more promising kind: the type that makes you laugh and cry simultaneously, but all great in their own special, devious little ways.
I love you, and you know its true. My life to the sword if I should be untrue. The pain I feel in missing you, is subverted by you being true. the pain of absence as it seems, will surely be but a short dream. understanding in times of need, is really what we all need. if you hold my will, i shall be still. you will see that by the by, i will not fly. on this earth, where fruit is grown. we shall plant in earnest for others to yearn.
Do you hear the trumpets cry out to the world? It is the language of the oppressed soul. It sings at night, and tells of the day's troubles.
I chose jingle, acronym, and pegging as my three memory techniques. Using a jingle is creating a catchy song or sentence that will help you remember important info, such as for me I used a few jingles to help me with me some very important vocabulary words, I created it to help me with the spelling, and to also remember the meaning. The second one that I picked was an acronym. Using an acronym is creating words to help memorize a list. I wanted to memorize the names of Jesus’s twelve disciples’, so I took the first letter of each of their names and then created a sentence with each letter. The third one that I tried was pegging. Pegging is when you hook to hang a number. The way that I used pegging was to try to remember my instructors phone number, and the other phone numbers of all the important people that are here for me during my time hear at Argosy University. I created a silly song such as the kids’ song B-I-N-G-0, and sang the number to the tune, and I also created a silly sentence to match the numbers of others.
I destroy homes and tear families apart, I take your children and that’s just the start.
This week in our Writer’s Workshop we focused on composing our own poetry. Miss Hiral gave an example by composing a poem that shared her feelings and recent experience from her trip to Colorado. She explained that poems describe something in detail- a poem is a piece of writing more similar to a song than a story as they use rhyme, rhythm, and sometimes a specific pattern.
Swimming against the tide, further from her pod now alone without family or friends. Diving in and out of waves as they splash against other waves. Moving faster and further from shore, before dipping under and found herself in the middle of a sea turtle clan. Nearly a million of them and she wondered how they stayed together so easily. the turtles swam slow yet graceful like a dance.
