It would take a lifetime to do an in-depth look at the works of God as the works of God are so vast, and like himself eternal. Gods work is found throughout the Old Testament starting with Gods creation of the cosmos and God’s salvation and judgment on behalf of the nation of Israel. In the New Testament we find the works of God brought to life through the birth, life, death, and resurrection of his son Jesus Christ. Following the resurrection we find the works of God show through the works of the Holy Spirit.
Works of God in Old Testament- Creation
The first work of God found within Scripture is found within Gods account of the creation of cosmos found in Genesis 1:1-31. Genesis 1:1 states, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (New International Version).” In the Hebrew the word bara meaning causing something to come into being that didn’t exist before. This work of God is essential to the Christian faith. In The Genesis Record by author and Professor Henry Morris argues in his book the belief of creationism refutes of all man’s false philosophies including atheism, pantheism, polytheism, materialism,

One of the most prominent example of the works of God is the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt, especially the plagues (Exodus 7-12) and the parting of the Red Sea (Exodus 14:15-31). The exodus of the Israelites from Egypt is a prime example of Gods salvation of Israel and Gods judgement for those who stand again Israel. One may ponder how this may apply to modern Christianity? The answer is simple, in Opening Genesis it states “Moses knows, however, that the people need to be reminded of the all-powerful nature of the God who keeps his promises. There are times for moving, and there are times for standing still (Campbell
In Genesis, the first book of The Bible the Christian and Jewish creation story is told. God spoke and his Word was done. He made the heavens and the earth. He made light and drove away the dark. On the earth he created the waters and lands and man and beast.
Although God reveals Himself both through nature and through Divine Revelation, it is abundantly clear that our will is inherently twisted by sin and, therefore, we need Divine Revelation to be the most important, most clear. The Holy Spirit helps us to understand Scripture as literal and historic.
From Genesis 1.1-2.4a it can be discerned that God is the creator of all. He created the world and its inhabitants from a vast nothingness. The text reflects upon who God is and what His capabilities are through the act of creation. The verses allow that God is communicating with us. It is communicated what Gods will is for man and gives us a history of our beginnings. From the data provided in the verses, scientists can conclude as to the how and why the order of creation came about. For example, light was first, land second, and then plants. Light and land are needed for plats to survive. The passages allude to the fact that He and He
Creation. Some people believe that this world was created by the Big Bang, others say that the world was created alone, and others believe in the power that God has to created this world. In Genesis 1 we find the description of creation made by God, introducing with the phrase “in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth”, in summary to the chapter.
The book of genesis in the bible is where its considered to be the noted beginning of the world. The article “the bible is fiction: A Collection of Evidence” written by Daniel Miessler shows that there are those who feel otherwise. The book of genesis’s flood story is said to have been a copycat of the Epic of
A drug is purposed to induce stupor or insensibility to a person. Insensibility means to lack awareness or concern, which occurs when a drug is taken. People depend on drugs daily, weather it is illegal drugs or provided by a doctor. Soma in Aldous Huxley’s book, Brave New World, is not illegal because the government is ordering the people to take them. However, that does not necessarily make them different to human who consume drugs illegally. Having to consume drugs daily to keep yourself stable is addictive behavior. Some individuals could not imagine life without drugs in the real word, characters in Brave New World could not live without soma either. Soma is normal to the characters. They were taught during hypnopedia, that it is necessary for them to consume so that their system will be stable.
Genesis 17:1- Reveals to Abraham that God is all-powerful and fulfills His promises when everything seems impossible if he will abide and walk in His will.
Imagine working for free for a whole four years. That is the life of the average college athlete. The college athletes do not have time for anything else, that includes stuff like jobs, studying and sometimes for classes themselves. After they graduate they are not even guaranteed a spot for the magier league. So after all the work what is left an empty degeer and a huge debt.
People in our society today who have the atheist point of view on religion, which is the belief that there is no god, are going against the so-called norms of society, and therefor are seen as deviant. Deviance is just an idea. Society determines what is deviant by the ideas they hold of what should be the norm. Atheism is seen as a negative deviance, or below the norm. They have a status that is placed on them in society. It doesn’t necessarily mean that they believe in evil, although that is how it is sometimes viewed from people in society who have a specific religion or faith. Atheism, which is not a new idea, has been evolving in our society, and is the reason for problems leading to debate and court cases, and for
Many people see their lives as divided pieces that are separated with little connection to one another. This can be considered a dangerous perspective because it violates the whole purpose of God’s created order. We find ourselves in a sticky situation because we tend to divide our lives into different categories, rather than focusing on the creation has one whole piece. In a dualistic view, we would consider prayer, church and worship to be sacred activities, while work, education, and politics would been seen as merely secular.
Atheism: a disbelief or a lack of belief in God. Sadly, this is becoming a more
God’s continuing work can be seen in the incarnation of Christ and his redemptive work. “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God…God created the things we can see and the things we cannot see…everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else and he holds all creation together” (Colossians 1:16, 17). Not only is Jesus the exact representation of God, but he is God himself who worked with the Father in creating the world – the sustainer of everything (Hebrews 1:3). “Because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan” (Ephesians 1:11). This means that, “his will may be disobeyed, but his ultimate purpose cannot be frustrated, for he overrules the disobedience in his creatures in such a way that it sub serves his purpose” (Akin 2014, 235). Here we can clearly see God’s sovereignty and that we can rest in the truth that Jesus is Lord and God is in control. God’s involvement in our lives goes even deeper and shows us that he is personal and wants relationships with his creation. He not only spoke with Old Testament figures such as Adam, Abraham, Isaac and Moses, he held relationships with them through guidance and even discipline (Genesis 1:28, 3:8, 12:1, 26:5; Exodus 11, 19, 20, 33:11). Amos 4:13 says that God reveals His thoughts to man. We often
I see God working through the history of mankind and God working throughout the history of Israel as well. I believe one can see that God is at work in the church as well. He is working to fulfill God 's plans that has been in place before the foundation of the world. God’s plan as the Apostle Paul says is to redeem his people in Ephesians 1:6-7. The Apostle Paul said, “to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, (Ephesians 1:6-7 ESV). It is Genesis chapter 3 that we see the broken state of mankind, but God offers grace to mankind when He tells Eve her child (Jesus) would crush the serpent (Satan).
A FEW years ago, in a supermarket, I swiped my bank card to pay for groceries. I watched the little screen, waiting for its prompts. During the intervals between swiping my card, confirming the amount and entering my PIN, I was shown advertisements. Clearly some genius had realized that a person in this situation is a captive audience.
From the opening of Scripture God’s power is on display as he creates ex nihilo, but before such an awesome display can even be considered, one must contemplate that God is. Numerous creeds throughout history have begun with the affirmation, “I believe in God.” The existence of God is seen in the intricate designs and the complexity of the universe, but this alone cannot fully establish the existence of the God described and revealed to us in Scripture. The biblical God is more than just a creator of a deistic universe; his power extends beyond.
