Jane Adams and Ellen Gates Stars worked side by side in developing the concept of the Hull House in 1889. The Hull House residents provided many services to the urban Chicago neighborhood including day care services for the children of working mothers.
It was a wonderful eye-opening experience to interview Carmen Anton, a Spanish immigrant for this project. I learned so many things about how she arrived in American as a small child with only her sister by her side and her strive to become American. The emotional struggles of Carmen and her sister, Elena, were real and I didn’t realize it was that emotionally draining to come to a new country. Her experience showed me how hard it is to fit into a new society knowing absolutely nothing about the world she was dropped into. The fact that she flew here with her younger sister and then live for three months without her parents to guide her in this unfamiliar setting, shows me how strong and brave Carmen was at the young age of eight. When she first came, she assumed it would be like

Action from necessity is a constantly recurring theme in Thucydides’ The Landmark Thucydides: A Comprehensive Guide to the Peloponnesian War. A sentiment used to explain the growth of the Athenian Empire which some Athenians espoused to an assembly at Sparta best quantifies necessity, “. . . we were necessarily compelled at first to advance the hegemony to where it is—especially by fear, and then by honor, and later by benefit.” (Selected Passages 1.75.3). This claim, referred to as the Athenian Thesis, is used to advance the two following implications: all states act with the motivations of fear, honor and interest and no one can condemn a state for doing so. The Athenian Thesis influences the way many of the Athenian elite structure their patterns of reasoning in both noticeable and subtle ways.
Hercules is a large and prominent constellation. It is visible from the Northern Hemisphere from April to November. Despite its large size, Hercules does not have any bright stars. As a result only one or two of the stars of Hercules are visible from cities. I chose Hercules because I have heard his story before, but I did not know it well and wanted to know it better.
I was born in Portland, Victoria on April 13th 1869 and I was the oldest child in my family. My sisters and I were educated by a private governess and I went to the Presbyterian Ladies’ College. My 2 sisters, Lina and Elsie got married, but Aileen didn’t get married.
“I could have been in college, I would have been working,” Briana said. “Nova slows me down. Sometimes I do wish I would have had an abortion, but I love Nova, I do not regret her. It’s just hard sometimes” (Maier). Briana DeJesus, a Puerto Rican teenager, was unfortunate to become pregnant at a young age, which had put a set back to all her future plans. DeJesus is a child of a single mother and has grown up in poverty. She believed that she had the love and support from her child’s biological father resulting in her keeping her child rather than terminating. As revealed, she often regrets her decision and wonders how her life would have been if she terminated her pregnancy, but she would not turn back the clock and had an abortion, as she loves her child.
In “The Handbook”, Epictetus provides a way of life a stoic should follow to be a good member of the society, which is a life detached from things one cannot change and focused instead on things that can be improved. For instance, he asked people to care none about the way others would judge them as he quoted “If anyone tells you that such a person speaks ill of you, don't make excuses about what is said of you, but answer: "He does not know my other faults, else he would not have mentioned only these."” Through this quote, Epictetus wanted all stoics to know all their faults better than anyone else can say about them. Hence, the person would not be disturbed by the way the society view him or her as well as would be able to control and fix

Antigone was a Greek tragedy with multiple acts and scenes written by Sophocles around 441 b.c. The Game, was a one-act play written by Louise Bryant in 1916. Both plays have strong protagonists and antagonists. They have minimal stage directions allowing freedom and movement. The plays were written in a Dramatic Point-of-View so the audience does not know the internal thoughts or emotions of the characters and instead uses dialogue to characterize the individuals.
When writing a research essay, it is important to utilize sources that are both trustworthy and useful. It is easy to find just any source but you must ask yourself a few questions to see if that source is valuable. For example, I am in the process of researching about the drug war and I have seen hundreds or more articles on the drug war failing or succeeding. Before I choose a certain source there is a process that I go through to test the source before I assume it is trustworthy and useful.
There are two possible conceptions of legal official in Fuller’s account: the broad and the narrow conceptions. Both conceptions of legal official share the view that the legal officials should: (i) see themselves as the legal members within the legal system (ii) contribute in creating and in administrating the system of general rules (iii) constraint their law-jobs under the idea of ‘role morality’ to keep the law’s integrity in virtue of the maintain of human interactions, the general rules, the rule of law, and the fidelity of law. Both conceptions of legal official, however, differ in the scope of membership and the degree of morality performance. On the on hand, the broad conception of legal official
