Five million dollars, is the average salary for an athlete. Millions upon millions are spent on wasted entertainment. Society believes this is too much while there are others out there doing greater things. For example, the military protecting our country and risking their lives daily. Many athletes do not know how to use their money wisely. To start off many athletes do not even know how to cash a check! People give them so much money that they don't even know what to do with it so they waste it on cars or houses. Next many athletes spend it on things they don't need. Why do you need 8 cars or houses? Last week many athletes went bankrupt just after 2 years retirement. So much money you think it could last longer. In conclusion athletes
Should college athletes be paid is a huge topic talked about. This research paper is going to talk about.I will be talking about why the deserve to get paid.Do any of the athletes get paid and if it is enough.Do the companies or colleges have enough to the paid the college athletes.Pro’s and con’s of paiding them. What is the most you can get paid
In today’s world there are usually two people, athletes and non-athletes. Now out of the millions of sub-categories of humans; whether it be race or gender or preference or nationality, it all comes down to two types of people, those who play sports and those who watch. For those who play there is a whole lot of effort, and little reward. People say, “why can playing for a big-name school not be enough?” or, “You have a scholarship, quite asking for more”. Those who watch, think to themselves, those players probably have the highlife, flying in jets, and being paid money out of pocket. When they could not be further from the truth. For their extra work, and
The NCAA basketball programs rake in billions every year through the marketing, broadcasting contract, merchandise ,and ticket sale, One big event that every large school looks forward to, the March Madness basketball tournament which by itself generates more than $1 billion each year in the production of advertisements, which is greater than the cost of the ones that are featured in the Super Bowl. If the different coaches can be paid more than millions of dollars each year why can't the athletes be paid as well. Student athletes need money for their personal expenses, keep athletes for selling their own merchandise, and rewards for helping bring in money to help benefit their school.
Rebecca Lobo once said“Athletes who take to the classroom naturally or are encouraged to focus on grades should be able to do well in the classroom. I believe the reason you go to college is to get your degree. It's not a minor league or an audition for the pros.” many athletes should read these and apply it to their life because college isn't about trying to play in the pros if you're an athlete sure you can have a dream, but you need to also get a degree that should be the main focus not getting a tryout or an audition for the pros. Every year around one hundred seventy-seven thousand athletic scholarships is given out to those that stood out in their sport, whether it was basketball, football, or even baseball. The kids receiving these scholarships are given a free
In 2012 the NCAA March Madness tournament generated $1,005 million dollars in revenue topping the NFL, NBA, MLB and NFL revenues (Koba). From the money generated through these tournaments players were given no pay even though they put their hardest in training and playing these tournaments. Something must be given to compensate these players commitment and hard work. In addition, coaches get paid six figures and bonuses from tournaments and games won but players don’t get a single penny. Some may disagree because, many claims that athletes are already paid with a different form of currency which is medical expenses, Professional sports training, and financial aid for education. However, college athletes should be payed because many are not
Have you thought about college athletes being paid? The college athletes don’t need the money, and the good college athletes are already being paid when they get a full ride to play the sport they’re good at. The colleges would have to find a way to pay the athletes, therefore, they couldn’t afford to pay the athletes. More and more students would try to play a sport at the next level, also playing sports is a privilege and the way it is it should stay that way. College athletes shouldn’t be paid.
Do you think pro athletes deserve high salary?I think they deserve the money. They play hard.
Put yourself in the shoes of a college athlete. Imagine having a daily routine the consist of waking up early for either a workout or practice. After those long early mornings, you head to all your classes. And now that you are going to classes and find out your failing a class, you now have a tutoring session. Finally, you head for another practice at night that will end late which gives you hardly any time for school work. Now just think about what college athletes go through. No time for a job, and not a lot of time to have fun. Do you think you could, do it? For a period, there has been a controversial debate whether college athletes should be getting paid. There are people out there that believe scholarships and other benefits are not enough for those college athletes. College athletes are the ones putting in a great amount of time throughout the week, month, and even years and are either receiving a small amount of scholarship money or even a full scholarship. The colleges athletes should get paid to
The money that is used for paying professional athletes is being wasted. Instead of using it to pay players every time that they get a goal or shot, that money could be used to keep someone alive. According to Country Economy in 2011 the debt in Japan was 13,579,637. One of the highest paid team in major league baseball, the New York Yankees, earns 203,197,405 a year (The Score)! The team could pay off all of Japan’s debt in less than a year! Fair to say, it is a whole team, but one single player could pay off all of United States debt as well. According to The Score “Hiroki Kuroda makes 16 million dollars in a single year.” A whole countries debt! And yet look at how this money is wasted. According to World Food Programme “842 million people in the world do not have enough to eat.” If athlete’s weren’t paid so much these 842 million people would have something to eat, and would not die from starvation. Why don’t these athletes donate if they have so much money? According to Daily Mail Floyd, Mayweather made a 5.9 million dollar bet, with his pocket money. They have so much money that they place million dollar bets like it’s hardly
When they were in college they never had time to get a job, because they were spending their time doing either school work or practicing/playing the . Also if the athlete is good enough to make it into professionals they will have to manage more money. Tiffany Patterson stated, “One aspect I find lacking in this topic discussion is the ignoring of the very real fact that a lot of athletes are very financially irresponsible.”.
Paying college athletes would be beneficial for the athletes and the programs..The NCAA membership has adopted amateurism rules to ensure the students’ priority are to obtain a quality educational experience and that all of student-athletes are competing equitably. The NCAA made these rules a long time ago to make sure that college athletes didn’t feel like playing sports in college was their job and tried to emphasize that education came before sports. They want to make these rules and restrictions more strict because they feel that athletes are starting to do their own thing. NFL athletes are coming back and admitting that they took money during college, so the NCAA
Whether student athletes deserve more than they are currently receiving for playing sports for their respective schools, has turned into a controversial issue in college sports. Some argue student athletes already receive enough because their education is paid for, they receive meals, and receive other accommodations. While some believe these young athletes are putting their future’s on the line and risk injury. Also, they make so much money for the program they play for (through ticket and jersey sales), that it is unfair for them not to receive a share of the financial pie.
Do professional athletes need caps on their salaries? This shouldn't even be a question, professional athletes are being paid tons of money just to play the game they love. The reason why they need salary caps is so teams will have a balance of players. Some teams would just be completely stacked with great players. Understanding if you are a professional athlete you're good, but there is always good and great. Teams wants the great athletes, not just the good ones. Also fans want to watch a good game, nobody wants to watch games when they know the team is just going to kill the other team. Lastly, teams would start to run out of money, and players would demand too much money for their skill sets. Coaches could end up spending all the money
Even Though athletes do work for there money they should not get paid that much. Athletes make way to much money for people's entertainment.
College athletes, especially division 1 athletes have tremendous talent in whatever sport that they play in college, this is why college coaches recruit them and make sure that they attend their university. There is some speculation as to whether or not a college athlete should be paid while attending any university. The answer is no. College athletes are not professional athletes and this is one of the main points and they should not get paid due to the fact that some are not ready for that privilege and it defeats the purpose of them going to college. College athletes are labeled as student-athletes and the first term in that name is “student”. This is for a specific reason which is that not all college athletes are going to end up playing in a professional league and attending college
