Attending Minnesota State University- Mankato has been one of the greatest decisions I have made thus far. Although it has been an incredible experience, I still have some fears, concerns and anxieties about being a student here at MSU. My biggest concern and fear is not making friends. I was lucky enough to come here with a couple close high school friends so I am not completely alone. Even though I love having my high school friends here and hanging out with them, I just want to become friends and make memories with new people. What I believe is holding me back is that I am apprehensive. I am not one of those people that can just go up to someone and start a conversation. It is hard because before college I was in multiple sports and clubs
The Ohio statehouse had multiple people contribute to its construction; there were numerous architects and several others. In 1838 there was a design competition held by the government to decide how the building would be built. Many entries were received from the public around the county, and most were either architects or artists. The winner was Henry Walter from Cincinnati while second place went to Martin E. Thompson from New York and third place went to Thomas Cole who was a landscape painter. The design of the statehouse was centered around all three of the winners, and Alexander Jackson Davis, an architectural consultant, drew the design. The construction of the statehouse began on July 4, 1839, and 22 years later the structure was completed in 1861.

Unit 10 was a closure for the previous four units in the process of inventing Canada. This unit based on the earliest resources on Canadian history and on the first nations whom lived in this country. This resources were about pre-Cartier and his explorations. Some nations, for example the people who lived in St. Lawrence valley – whom did not have a specific name to be called at- and historians still lacking enough evidence on their existence or what happened with them. These people who are identified as St. Lawrence Iroquoians were lived in the contact area which means the conquerors reached them first. The Iroquoians were exposed to all the dangers Europeans carried into the native lands, different types of diseases they were not immune
Founded in 1764, St. Louis Missouri is home to many diverse groups, businesses, and corporations. Post American Civil War, local immigration and industrialization contributed to increasing populations. In terms of racial demographics, the majority ethnic backgrounds in St. Louis approximately include Whites, African Americans/Blacks, Latinos/Hispanics, and Asians. Similar to NYC, immigrants and refugees of war settled in St. Louis and created their own subculture. In the early 1990’s after the Bosnian War, more than forty thousand refugees arrived and established St. Louis as the largest Bosnian community aside from their home country of course.
I 'm scared to start over so maybe that 's why I am not going out of my way to make new friends. I tell myself that I should just focus on school, but I know it 's my anxiety telling me that I won’t be accepted. I chose to talk about this experience because this is something i am experiencing now and I knew once i talked about it, I could start making progress to being happy st this school. I don’t really understand why people don’t seem to like but I think it’s just because they don’t know me yet. Ive realized that friends aren 't just going to fall into my lap and I 've already started to sign up for a few clubs so hopefully some good will come from it.
Another challenge I am going to have is making the right friends in a new place. A way
The Prairie Meadows Scholarship will help me to pursue an education at the University of Iowa. With the money given I would use it to earn a degree in engineering or a degree dealing something with the law. My favorite subjects in High School were math and science. My whole life math has always come easy to me and for some odd reason I have a passion for math. During my Junior year of High School I took my second physics class and gained an interest in physics. Besides math and science, when I was a young boy I always dreamed of becoming a police detective, I used to run around the house pretending I was getting all of the “bad guys”. Now a days I also find being a lawyer fun and intriguing. I plan on earning my degree and graduation college.
I was able to make friends easily by applying my interpersonal skills amongst others. This included joining societies as well as, using my communication skills during my seminar group work discussions, where I demonstrated my teamwork skills by co-operating with others during a shared task. Working with others is a vital skill, as I did not only collaborate with them, but learn from them by listening to their thoughts, as we all had diverse ideas and perspectives. This point leads back to my anxiety of interacting within a new environment, which allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and, associate with people from different backgrounds.
