Alexander Murray, an American writer, states “Racism is taught in our society, it is not automatic. It is learned behavior toward persons’ with dissimilar physical characteristics.” In the book To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Atticus is trying to manipulate the judge by stating his closing argument. He makes a valid point about the trial because everything is bogus and Tom Robinson is going to jail as a result of the racial division. The author of the book uses emotions and facts to get to her main message.
There were pretty significant moments in this novel about the trial. People that took part in the trial had different testimonies such as Tom Robinson, Mayella Ewell, Bob Ewell, and Heck Tate. Heck claimed that after being contacted by Bob Ewell,he went to visit the Ewell home to find Mayella on the floor beaten. To Kill A Mockingbird In many different works of literature, characters will stand up for what they believe in, even if what they believe in is something that is looked down upon. In the book To Kill A Mockingbird, the character Atticus Finch, who is a lawyer, believes that Tom Robinson is not guilty, so he decides to stand up for him, despite the fact it makes the whole town dislike him because he is standing up for a black man. Throughout the book, Atticus continuously defends Tom Robinson, even though in the end, Tom Robinson is found guilty. Despite all of the opposition, Atticus does not stop defending what he believes in until the end of the book, when Tom Robinson is killed and he cannot do anything else.

Atticus Finch is definitely a heroic character because he accepted the difficult Tom Robinson case, he taught his kids about society and life lessons , and respected everyone in the community equally.
Atticus’ willingness to send Jem to court showed his loyalty to truth. Initially, Atticus believed that Jem had killed Bob, so he wanted to bring Jem to court; even later when he realized Boo killed Bob, Atticus still wanted Jem to go on trial for the murder. Atticus had two reasons for this; one reason was to protect Boo and the other reason was to protect Jem. Atticus was a man of high morals, which could be seen when he told Jem and Scout that it was a sin to kill a mockingbird. Boo was symbolic of the mockingbird because he made life better for Jem and Scout by leaving them gifts in the tree hole and saving them, so Atticus refused to “kill” Boo. Boo hated being around people, so making Boo endure the trial would be killing the mockingbird.

“You never understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” Atticus Finch, To Kill A Mockingbird. When I was nine years old my family and I moved from Marshall, Texas to Harleton, Texas. Making this move had a significant impact on my childhood due to the fact that I was taken from the town I had spent the first nine years of my life in only to begin an entirely new life in another town I had never even been to. I was taken from my friends and family, and I was faced with having to adjust to a whole new world. I didn’t realize it at the time, but this move and the experiences I would have would shape my life and make me the person that I am today.
Living in a small town in Maycomb, Alabama, Atticus Finch, the father of Jem and Scout Finch, all survive the struggle of the great depression. Scout, Atticus Finch’s six year old daughter, lives her brother Jem and father Atticus. While Atticus Finch spends his long days working as an attorney and state legislative representative, he tries his hardest to control and protect his two children. When the struggle becomes too much for Atticus to handle, suddenly calls his sister Alexandra to help maintain the children while he is at work. The children's aunt Alexandra is very concerned about Scout not having a feminine influence to follow.
Jem and Scout, Atticus Finch’s children, was left behind with his cook, Calpurnia, she brought the two kids to attend her church on Sunday. The children had a different experience at a Negro church than what they were used to.
Atticus Finch’s conscious is what gets his two beloved children picked on. Maycomb’s townspeople are all aware of the case of Tom Robinson, yet everyone refuses to take it. Atticus is in a different mindset than the rest of Maycomb and does what he believes is morally right, even if it means putting his family in jeopardy. Therefore, Jem and Scout get taunted and discriminated by the xenophobic children at school such as Cecil Jacobs, who declares that “their father defends n****” . Although Atticus is aware of the consequences, he will face from helping this innocent man and is still willing to do it.
One particular warm summer day, just a few hours after noon in the “tired old town” of Maycomb, the Finch household was unusually quiet(6. Lee). So quiet you can hear a pin drop1. Atticus had gone out, the children were nowhere to be seen, and even Calpurnia was away visiting family claiming they could live a day without her. That left ”Aunt” Alexandra Hancock in the house all alone.
In recent literary history, perhaps the strongest contender for the one character that has had the greatest influence on a generation is Atticus Finch, father of the protagonist in “To Kill A Mockingbird”. Both as a father, and a lawyer, he has served, and still today serves as a pillar of righteousness and morality. The ability for his morality to translate to all people, across ages, races, and cultures, is a feat preformed by Harper Lee in her masterpiece, “To Kill A Mockingbird”. She establishes Atticus Finch as the moral center of the novel by juxtaposing his actions and the relationships with those of the majority of Maycomb. In doing so, she has made him a cultural, and oftentimes personal icon.
When Finch sees the girl on the other side of the tower on the ledge, he tries to talk to her but she doesn't say anything. When she doesn't respond he tries to help her down so she doesn't actually fall. By the time she off the ledge, everyone in the school is watching them. Even though they are watching Finch still considers jumping until Violet tells him how to get off the ledge just like he did to her. Once Finch is off the ledge everyone is calling him a freak and calling Violet a hero, but in reality Finch saved her first.
Tonight we had a tragic incident! When Atticus Finch's children Jem and Scout were walking home they were attacked. The children were on their way home late at night after a school Halloween party. They were walking through the trees when they heard something. The oldest child Jem was the first to hear something rattling, he then told Scout the youngest to stop walking for a second. All of a sudden a man jumped out at them and started to attack them. Lucky for Scout she was in a ham costume and was able to dodge the hits and punches. On the other hand Jem was not so lucky he was getting thrown around everywhere. He even got his arm broken from the man twisting it. After a while a man came out from his house and saved the children. It turns
