Aunt Al did the right thing. The racial injustice is still happening today! Believe it or not it is still happening the very same way! Racial injustice has made this country tear apart, an example is the Civil War. Social injustice has torn us apart, and the people that try to have equality are usually the ones to get hurt. First, racial injustice has torn this country apart. We have had riots over the breakouts of one person and the Black Lives Matter marches. Also, the Sons of Confederate Soldiers are getting bashed because the Civil War was over slavery. Those have started the riots over slavery because of the past. When you start talking about white lives matter it gets all racial. Then when you start talking about black lives it isn’t
One of the the most controversial topics of discussion in our nation is the Black Lives Matter movement. This movement has sparked up immensely because of the President in office right now, Donald Trump, and many events transpiring around the nation. The country is at separation between the people who think that Black Lives Matter is a real issue and the people who think it is not. Without a doubt, people need to be considered equally, no matter what is said at the end of the day. America was founded on the idea that every man that walks on the soil will have just as equal opportunities as the next, no matter the race. Three essential reasons people are determined to fight for this cause is to end job discrimination, stop police brutality, and gain equal rights within society.
Over 100 years ago, the term slaves arose when blacks were separated from their families and freedom. They were forced into hard working labor and all rights obtained previously was confiscated by white individuals. Approximately 50 years ago, the Civil Rights movement was conducted in order to restore the equal rights under the American law. Currently, those of color are still constantly fighting to regain rights and justice that was seized from them years ago. Approximately 5 years ago, the Black Lives Matter movement became an active nationwide organization involved to protecting the lives of African Americans, all occurring due to the unjustifical death of Trayvon Martin. Unlike other civil rights movements, the Black Lives Matter
2) Although in this day and age, racial segregation is not considered an 'official' problem, and there is no longer seperate lunch rooms and drinking fountains for black and white people. There is an seemingly increasing amount of outrage being expressed by the black community in America. The #BlackLivesMatter is a black empowerment movement, breaking down the walls of insitutaionalised racism and defying the heirachy that dictates white supremacy.
The Black Lives Matter movement is a waste of time, money, and political effort. The article, “The Flag is Drenched With Our Blood”, is all fluff. I understand people are very very very easily offended, but please, why are we still bringing up slavery? (I can feel the hate seeping through my computer). Written like an english essay, this article fails to mention as it does in the other, “Hard Data, Hollows Protests”, how most of the violence is blacks to blacks. How the statistics are taken in the slums of beaten down parts of cities all across the US. And in regards to police brutality only on the rarest of occasions do we see the abuse of power over manipulation and false accusations of the plaintiff. Even spoken in class, we discuss how
When you hear “Black Lives Matter” someone else will try to refute your argument with “All Lives Matter.” The context of “Black Lives Matter” is not that other lives don’t have worth. The context of “Black Lives Matter” is that the value of black lives remains under assault in the United States. When people say, “Black Lives Matter,” they are acknowledging an important context that involves several centuries of slavery, civil rights, mass incarceration and brutality. It highlights the value of black lives because historically, this country often ignored that value. The problem with saying “All Lives Matter,” it that it ignores the context. There is a difference between saying something is true and something is relevant. For example, it’s like going to a Cancer fundraiser and screaming ‘There are other diseases too!’ Or when a parent says,” I love my son,” you don’t say “What about your daughter? Don’t you love all your children?” When a person says, “Black Lives Matter” we should not say “All Lives Matter.” It is an attempt to diminish the ongoing reality of white supremacy in America. It’s a demeaning way of other people’s stories. And yes, some people associate themselves with #blacklivesmatter have called for police deaths. But the cries of few groups do not invalidate an entire
This call for racial justice by the NAACP was not unjustified by the actions of the country during this time. With the turn of the century many African Americans left the southeastern states their ancestors lived in and moved north. Despite the expectations of a better life many found themselves still in poverty, without work and, victims
"No one will dispute that slavery and Jim Crow were horrible and inhumane; no one will dispute that discrimination still exists, though only a delusional person would deny that America has made radical, dramatic, inspiring progress in the last 40 years.” This is very true. Even though, slavery and segregation seem very far away, it hasn’t even been a century since these events. I think that our country is in the identification phase of helping African American. You watch the news, and they often exaggerate white on black crime. For awareness, this is great, however the image you get is somewhat deceiving. People, then make the assumption that our most of our white officers are racists, and we need to help out the community. So in my opinion, some people are protesting black lives matter for the wrong reasons. Moving forward, the African American community’s transgression needs to taken into consideration heavily. Many government moves have shown great promise, but where there is a good effect being produced, there is an inverse effect happening somewhere else. The United States have created many laws and bills to make this a better country, but “seven out of ten” times, African Americans get the short end of the
Today in the United States of America, there are many different people from many different ethnic backgrounds. The Black Lives Matters movement is stirring up racial separation, rather than promoting reasonable solutions. Their dishonest anti-police views are causing police everywhere to second guess themselves.
As a result, other organizations such as Blue Lives Matters, and All Lives Matters erupted too. The Blue Lives Matters Movement was created to protect police officers and their families. The All Lives Matters Movement was established to ensure that all lives matter and not just black lives. The argument between Black Lives Matter or All Lives Matter has been a heated discussion on social media for some time now. Indeed, all lives do matter, but the number of blacks killed from in the past five years says otherwise. Black Americans have a different experience than other races in the United States. Even though today, everyone in American are “supposedly” given the same opportunity to prosper, some hurdles are put into place for black Americans than any other race in the United States. Black Americans are more likely to get stopped by police than white Americans. Such acts as buying a house, car, or applying for a job position may be more difficult for an African American with the same credentials as a white American. People who do not understand how the Black Lives Matter Movement is an establishment to help aid the oppression of blacks without belittling other races are like that because they do not experience the “black experience” in America. Not to say that white people aren’t killed by policemen, but white Americans aren’t targeted by policemen. During the mass shooting of the church in Charleston, South Carolina committed by Dylann Roof, for example, he was labeled as “mentally ill”. When the shooting of the Sandy Hook elementary school in Connecticut happened, the shooter was also labeled as “mentally ill”. When blacks are killed wrongfully, usually a picture of an old mugshot appears as the cover face. Surveillances and voice recordings of murders of unarmed blacks on national television are displayed. Officers involved in such cases received little
Mrs. Wright is the protagonist in the short, one act play titled, “Trifles”, which is written by Susan Glaspell. Miss Brill is the protagonist in the short story “Miss Brill” which is written by Katherine Mansfield. These two diverse women oddly enough, share some of the same qualities such as having miserable secluded lives and finding a weird sense of ease in mere petite animals to implement comfort to their lives; the two also have differences in being that although Mrs. Wright is miserable, she has someone in her life unlike Miss Brill. The back stories of Mrs. Wright and Miss Brill are unrelated. Both of these women have some specific token in their miserable lives that appears to shed partial joy in limelight for them.
For decades black Americans have been treated as animals, looked at as if they are monsters, and killed like bugs. Actions like Police brutality and racism is what caused Black Lives Matter. The creation of the Black Lives Matter was a response by the black community to give a voice to black Americans affected by the increase of wrongful deaths due to the law enforcements and vigilantes across the country. This has been going on for so long that it seems like we are stuck in the past. For years, even decades black Americans have had to live the struggle of being equal. Even when things are going good and we think we finally have the same rights, something happened to change that. It is time to shed a light on the real purpose of Black Lives Matter and why they are important to today's society.
This is a sensitive topic especially for America with the white supremacy, segregation, slavery, and the "freedom of speech." What I don't understand is why you continued to target me even when I partly agreed with you. People usually use insults as a defense mechanism and you're insulting and implying, TOO MUCH. 1) I'm not African-American. 2) But I am from America. 3) I ASKED WHAT IS WHITE LIVES FIGHTING FOR? *crickets* 4) There is this thing everyone learned in elementary school or as a kid: If you don't have anything to say, say nothing at all. At least I hope you learned that. Even if you don't support Black Lives Matter or White Lives Matter, I still want to know why you took your time to argue. What is your side since you emphasized
The Black Lives Matter movement has swept across America. It 's branched out with chapters in over 31 cities and held rallies and boycotts across the United States(Sidner). The Black Lives Matter movement started with the outrage of the death of a young man. It continues to take over headlines and raise awareness on police brutality and inequality. However, the movement has met resistance from the All Lives Matter group. This group thinks that Black Lives Matter is a movement to express hatred towards other races. However, statistics, the views of fellow citizens, and the overall purpose of the Black Lives Matter movement, can prove that the movement wasn 't meant to express hate on other races and that we need to support the movement instead of going against it.
When you hear anybody say “black lives matter”, they are saying it for a reason. When they say “black lives matter”, they are trying to say that you can’t just take advantage of black people and do bad things to them, even if they do little things wrong. So many people are stereotyping black people because the small amount of black people who do things wrong and some news station tells everybody what they did wrong, but there is the vast majority of black lives who are actually trying to do something with their life. So these people are just trying to say that a black life is just as good as any other life, whether if it’s an white life, an mexican life, an asian life, and the many many other lives out there, they are all the same.
The election is when the citizens elect a running candidate to be president. The president is the one who can have bills passed on the people behalf and speak for the people in America. The president is the person who the citizens vote for to lead them into economic success, new government policies and equal rights for all citizens. The election is held every four years for the presidency. A presidency term lasts four years and could be shorter if the president is impeached. Impeachment is when the president is voted out of office by the house of representatives. Furthermore, the two candidates running could not have more controversy throughout their careers and are high profile people in America. The two exasperate each other in some form, almost every time the other gives his or her comments about their opponent. They are well-known people who have ideas that could either improve or dwindle the success in America, however they both have a chance to leave their impact in American history rather it be virtuous or depraved. The two candidates are Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump is known for being a highly recognizable business man. His economic skills could do America well, but his inability to understand minorities and the citizens could affect his chances. Hillary Clinton is known for being the wife of former president Bill Clinton. Hillary is more compelling to minorities, the low-class citizens, and the middle-class citizens, but her lack of austerity and
