The movie Avatar is about how the human race invades a planet called Pandora to mine a certain kind of resource and fights with the Na’vi, the race of creatures that live on Pandora. The main character Jake Sulley decides to take his brothers

In just a matter of three months, half of the Virginia company was dead. One of the most notable deaths of the English men was their initial captain, whose exact identity remains a mystery. Following this death rose Captain John Smith. The most distinguishable trait about John Smith was his diplomatic charm in the face of grave danger from the Indians. John Smith would learn to act and talk like the Powhatans, in an attempt to gain their trust. Even more so, the chief of the native tribe was persuaded by his daughter, Pocahontas, to relinquish aggression towards the forthcoming ‘white men’. For the years to come, Pocahontas would act as a bridge between the foreigners and natives, allowing the English to breathe a sigh of relief in a storm of turbulence. Legend has it that a heteroromantic relationship blossomed between Pocahontas and Smith, but these are mere rumors. In James Cameron’s Avatar, characters can be found sharing the same roles as those in Jamestown. Rather than James Smith, Cameron presents Jake Sully, a marine whose consciousness embodies a Na’vi, and begins to walk amongst Pandora’s clans. According to Colonel Miles Quaritch, a military leader in the film, “If you’ll look like them and talk like them then they’ll start trusting us.” This philosophy was the exact mindset of John Smith when he set out for diplomacy amongst the natives. Likewise, there was an Avatar version of Pocahontas present, and she was to be found as Neytiri, daughter of the Na’vi chief. Correspondingly, Neytiri trains Sully to become one with her people, and slowly throughout the film the Na’vi’s learn to trust and respect Jake. Of course, what is a tale without a spark of romance? Unlike the rumors circulating amongst John Smith and Pocahontas, the bond between Neytiri and Jake Smith was indeed confirmed, and the two rendered as a pair beyond

The movie Avatar, directed by James Cameron, was based off of the history of Canadian history and the comparison between the First Nations and the Europeans. The first thing I will be talking about is the word choice they use to describe the people such as “savage” because i feel that it dehumanises the Native people. Secondly, how the assimilation between the two cultures and races affects the relationship, by getting rid of their culture and language and making them adapt into their own. Lastly, I will talk about our most valued resources and what we did and are currently doing to the land and the surrounding sacred land of the First Nations. This is portrayed when they are plowing over the Na’vi people's soul trees to get their resources.

Avatar is a futuristic movie where the natives, the Na?vi, of Pandora live on the mine full of this valuable mineral. The relationship between the Na?vi and the humans are poor and because of this, the scientists that the government brought with them have genetically engineered the body of a Na?vi so that the humans can communicate with them. This is where Jake Sully comes into play. Jake Sully was born a twin, but when this twin dies a tragic death, the army recruites him onto the planet of Pandora where he is a perfect match for this genetically engineered Na?vi body. Jake uses this body to gain a connection with the Na?vi in hopes to persuade them to move off the area of the Unobtanium

The Greek myth of Pandora and her box tells the story of how evil was released onto mankind as revenge by the gods. Pandora, a woman created by the gods to unknowingly conduct their revenge on Prometheus, let her curiosity win her over and neglected the warning she was given about one of the gifts she had received from them- a jar filled with evils. Her story explains how evil was given to mankind and how the division between gods and humans was restored.

The myth of Pandora’s box is often seen as one of the most clear-cut myths regarding the origin of human behavior in Greek mythology. Ancient Greeks used this myth as a way to show weaknesses in humanity, as well as to illustrate the many hardships humans endure. A "Pandora's box" is a phrase that means the the source of continuous complications. The saying stems from ancient Greek mythology, precisely a collection of epic poems by Hesiod, Works and Days. The poet describes the creation of Pandora, the first woman, and a gift given to her by Zeus, which eventually ends the Golden Age of humankind.

While analyzing Avatar, it’s safe to say that there isn’t one main theme, but plenty. One main theme of Avatar is the flow of energy and the beauty of nature. “She said all energy is only borrowed, and one day you have to give it back,” (Cameron, 2009). Another huge theme in Avatar is the battle between Mother Nature and humans. “Our Great Mother does not take sides. She protects only the balance of life,” (Cameron, 2009). This quote is said by the Na’vi character Neytiri when Jake tries to ask Mother Nature to help him in his battle against the humans. In the end, Mother Nature does end up taking a stand and fighting for the preservation of life. Issues like corporations destroying nature for profit, the lack of respect for living creatures, and the failed policies of "military diplomacy" that the USA continues to pursue are just a few of the other themes behind Avatar. It would be ridiculous to say that the deep, meaningful themes from Avatar are just a copy of the weak, childish message from Pocahontas.

First, Pandora's box is a legend with many versions. Pandora was according to this legend the first female on earth. The brothers Prometheus, and Epimetheus created the animals according to this myth. Prometheus and Epimetheus also created Pandora. This myth is one of the many explanations of the beginning of life. When people here the saying Pandora's box in modern times they may remember that it means something bad is on the horizon.
