a) Aircraft Product Support
The product support is defined as a set of aftermarket services, processes and procedures established by the aircraft manufacturers to assist the airline operations and to ensure that the aircraft and its components remain functional during the life time of the aircraft.
In order to achieve this sustainable support, the aircraft Manufacturers produce tri-partite Agreement with Airlines and suppliers to define all the terms and conditions that govern such in service support.
The main aspect of product support revolves around materials and airline inventory cost optimisation. In the next few paragraphs,

A2) Support Materials Cost reductions- Warranty claims
The warranty terms and related contractual remedies are considered for the airline, one of the main sources maintenance costs reduction in case of reported failures. The warranty effect normally extends 48 months out of Aircraft age. The airline incurs only routine maintenance costs during this period if they have introduced efficient processes to capture all warranty opportunities. Some airlines with MRO attachment can also generate some profits from the warranty business where they recover the costs plus a certain margin they made out of manpower either from their own airline or a third party airline customer.
The Introduction of new aircraft received with a comprehensive warranty support normally during the first years of aircraft age hence contributing significantly to maintenance cost reduction. The guarantees last for much longer normally ten years of Aircraft age. It is anticipated that during this period and in case of reliability issues, OEMs will intervene and offer product support which includes free repairs/loaner and modification.
Furthermore, the OEMs provide below remedies under the PSA terms:
- Free of charge repairs/replacements for parts.
- Materials and Labour reimbursement cost for defect corrections.
- No charge replacement parts for rogue parts.
- Labour reimbursement

While we are performing our analysis on different aspects of the company, we look at the three main types of cost. When we remain devoted to improving our costs, and the faults related, we show our same devotion to our consumers. This is portrayed by the quality of products we put on the shelves. Prevention costs, appraisal costs and Failure costs are areas
Support services are the services a company gives the customer after they have purchased a product. These services are based off of the wants and needs of the customer and must evolve in order to be a part of the competition (Kotler & Keller, 2016). It is important for a company to pay attention to the wants and needs of the customers as those are the criteria they use to make purchasing decisions. Customers usually have three criteria they worry about when considering product support; reliability or failure frequency, downtime, and extra costs (Kotler & Keller, 2016).
The Aeronautics Branch of the Department of Commerce is the foundation of the United States Federal Government regulation in civil aviation. Born out of necessity to nurture the growth and expansion of aviation, it was believed that without federal regulation, this green industry would falter.
“You haven’t seen a tree until you have seen its shadow from the sky.” Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly a solo nonstop trans-Atlantic aircraft, spoke these words about the joys of flight in 1932. She and others, such as Orville and Wilbur Wright, Charles H. Lindbergh, and Frank Whittle, recognized early on how aviation would change our view of the world. Since these early discoveries of aviation, society has relied on flight as a primary means for safe transportation. This feeling of security was challenged on September 11, 2001, when nineteen hijackers took control of four commercial airliners and aimed the planes at targets in the United States. These terrorists’ attacks, referred to as 9/11, created the need for improved airport and airline security and reformed the United States Government’s entire security strategy and infrastructure.
Companies in the aerospace industry require high capital investment and new innovated technology. Some key ratios in the aerospace and defense industry include the current ratio, the debt to equity ratio, working capital ratio, and capital expenditures to sales. These financial ratios measure how firms leverage debt, how capable a company is of paying its obligations, and how much a company invests to facilitate growth. The table below shows 2014 financial data for 1,400 large, medium, and small company sizes within the aerospace industry (Hoovers, 2015).
What do you consider as the most important drivers for the development and technology in the aircraft-manufacturing industry?
It has been brought to my attention that four of our company machines have been noted as having, “Excessive downtime”, resulting in lost production. Specifically part #Y01 has been affected. The administration and enforcement need to consider the government's ability to enforce the warranty is essential to the effectiveness of any warranty. Some assurance must be that an adequate administration system for reporting defects exists or can be implemented. The adequacy depends on the nature and complexity of the item, location and proper use, storage time, distance of using activity from the source of the item, difficulty in detecting the existence of defects, and difficulty in tracing the responsibility for defects. Some items have trade warranties that are adequate. A contractor's charge for assumption of liability may be offset, or partially offset, by reducing the contract's
The Airline industry has experienced continual problems with rising costs with both fuel and maintenance which has caused them to increase their fees to the consumers to pay for those rising costs. This paper will help explain what an airline such as Delta does to help alleviate such costs without forcing its consumers to flip the bill through high fees that consist of tickets, baggage fees and food. The costs of doing business in aviation today have spiraled out of control making it very expensive for both airlines and the
