In life, it is normal see a few stray animals around town digging in the trash cans, walking around, or trying not to get hit by cars as they go from one place to the next. On a particular day, there was a dog that stood out from the others to one person. Libby was on her stomach, crawling towards the person in a happy yet fearful manner. The person did not know why until giving the dog an overlooking. What the person found was shocking. Libby had a number tattooed inside her left ear, which confused the person. Being taken to an animal clinic, some disturbing news was uncovered. Libby had a number of medical problems, including vaginal infection, rotted teeth, tapeworms, and hookworms. Sometime later it was discovered that Libby had been a lab experiment only to be let go into the world. Libby's world became better though. Even though Libby had a happy ending, other animals do not get the chance to ever see the light of a day again as cruel tests are made as a sacrifice for human safety.
Monkeys are maimed and tested on with horrible diseases like AIDS. Cats and rabbits have holes drilled into their skulls. Mice are used in almost everything from growing human body parts on their backs to seeing how effective a mousetrap can be on them to testing all kinds of poisons just to see how it affects the body. How would it feel to be kept away from life to act as a slave to experimentation and horrid people who could care less about a person's well-being? How could anyone think
The people know about Michael Vick that he was the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles and played for 13 seasons in the National Football League (But there is another story that Michael Vick has been involved in dog fights and went to prison for the actions that committed). That does not cover on what had happened to the dogs,Donna Reynold’s had said in details that the swimming pool was used for kill some of the dogs as she continues, the people did not know how many suffered the permitted murder, but the damage of pool walls tells a story. Michael Vick did not just put dogs to fight, but he would hang, drown, shoot, repeatedly slamming their head and spine into the ground
What is animal abuse? For starters, animal abuse is when a person inflicts suffering or harm on any animal. Most people, all over the world own an animal; but there are still far more animals left out on the street. Homeless animals are either left out on the streets or are “thrown” into shelters. This became a problem because not all animals are domesticated. Animal shelters began as pounds. “When the system began to be used to impound wandering dogs and cats, these animals were often killed because little monetary value was placed on them” (Lila Miller, Animal sheltering in the United States: Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, 1) . This issue persists because shelter workers and others truly believe that an animal life has no value, but that is not true; animals are living beings just like humans with brains, hearts, and bones. A reported case was that “authorities had seized 23 puppies, 11 cats, and four adult dogs from a self-processed animal “rescue” after they were found in the “rescuer’s” filthy home.” (‘No-Kill’ Label Slowly Killing Animals, 3). This means that an unauthorized person hoarded many animals and forced the animals into an unsafe “shelter”. The shelter being a dirty home.
“With just one payment of 15 cents every month, you can help these poor animals. Call now and you will receive a carrying bag with a picture of an animal that you saved…” This is what is mentioned in most heartbreaking ads to lure you in to donate to save animals. Why should we the people donate to these animals when these abuses are going to continue? Why not just make a law to give crucial punishments to those who abuse the animals. These animals that were neglected and left for dead. Well because they have the right to live and people have no rights to abuse animals. The government for other states should stricken the laws so that less of these abuse occurrences will stop.
(Allusion) These animals are forced to live in their own personal hell (Metaphor) where they are used in different experiments and are often subject to forced feeding and inhalation in addition to being deprived of water and food for prolonged periods of time. They are restrained and burned so that scientists can study the healing process of wounds, while the pain they feel is to study the effects of remedies. Would you want to be restrained while scientists inject you with strange substances, or pour liquids in your eyes and spread creams on you? (Rhetorical Q) According to PETA (Allusion), more than 100 million animals are used every year in unnecessary, cruel and unreliable experiments (Repetition of key point) such as drug, food, chemical and cosmetic tests but exact numbers can not be provided because 95% of all the animals used are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act. This act minimally protects live or dead cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, monkeys or hamsters but does not protect birds, mice, rats and farm animals used for food and other purposes. The act regulates transportation and housing of the animals but it does not regulate the actual experiments, which allows the scientists to do unnecessary tests on the animals without getting in any
In America, we come across serious environmental issues about poverty, domestic abuse, ending world hunger ect. Animal cruelty isn’t one of those topics that isn’t being put out there more. We see it all around like the commercials on tv that tell you to donate money to help the poor stray dogs. People don’t see how much damage we can cause to them, but if we got together we can help stop this madness. In the article, Counting cruelty: Challenges and opportunities in assessing animal abuse and neglect in America it briefly says “Cruelty to animals is a crime.” (Lockwood 87). Laws were made for this problem way back. Our laws help keep society in a proper place with no hysteria.Which means people like us should pay attention more to our surroundings.
Animal abuse is frowned upon in America. However, we haven’t any right to say something like this, as it happens all the time right under our noses, specifically on our dinner plates. From Chickens, Ducks, and Geese to Cows, Pigs, and Sheep They all suffer from abuse every day. It is sickening to know that the food I eat has come from an animal who was not grown with care and had been fed a diet that does not register within its normal eating habits. It is disturbing to see animals being raised to be so heavy that they cannot support their own bodies and collapse under their own weight. It is assumed that the animals we eat are properly cared for, when in reality this is not the case. While the farms we imagine to be bright and idealistic
Over a year ago, Tanisha Degenhardt, an animal rescue worker and the founder of Education Not Euthanization, watched a stray dog living close to her house in Alberta, Canada. When she found out this dog had puppies, she took care of them and helped get them homes. Yet the mother dog stayed hidden from the family. But a few weeks ago, the mother of Degenhardt realized the dog was not with her usual pack, but instead on the top of a hill, so her and her daughter began to worry something was wrong. The following day, the dog again showed up again but this time had three puppies with her who suffered disease, hunger, abuse, and harsh weather. Due to this site, the Degenhardt women began helping these puppies and hopefully their mother. They came
Every year an estimated hundred million animals, in the United States, are subjected to undergo painful and invasive procedures. The majority of these experimental animals spend their entire lives in cages and eventually die from the insensitive tests that they are forced to endure. Animals that are tested in laboratories typically include dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, rats, rabbits, pigs, sheep, mice, monkeys, and many more. Ninety-nine percent of the animals that are experimented on are birds, mice, and rats. All of which are not protected by the Animal Welfare Act.
Countless owners walk their dogs through the park, parents take their kids to buy a new pet, and an elder is enjoying the company of his/her cat, but while animals are in a loving home, another side of evil lurks. Somewhere out there in a research lab a little chimp cries out from a bar steel cage whimpering at the approaching needle, shaking; thanks to the echoes she hears of her brother’s cries and asking the constant question “why”, “Each year, more than 100 million animals-more than three each second- are bred, injected, infected, cut open, genetically altered, and more, in the name of science” (Humane Society International 1). That same poor animal locked in a cage along with the other terrified animals. Are frightened and do not know
Imagine this, an owner throwing a bag of dog food to one hundred fifty dogs that fight to get their needs. Some dogs coming out with their ears torn off and some with no food. Many dogs out in the country of the United States are being abused everyday. People don’t realize what harms their dogs and they don’t know how to treat them. Dogs are just like humans and they need to be treated the right way. Although people know that dog abuse exists, we never take the time to look into it to see how we can prevent it; There are many ways to help prevent dog abuse such as reporting it to your local animal shelter and making sure to take responsibilities for their needs.
Unfortunately today there are many cases of animal abuse happening around the world. Animal cruelty or animal abuse can be defined as the infliction of suffering or harm upon animals for purposes other than self-defense. There are many different types of abuse such as using animals for research, using animals for entertainment purposes, abandoning animals to shelters, and animal neglect. We need to raise awareness and find a solution to these issues. Animals are suffering and we need to help them.
If you think an animal is being abused, first address the situation. Is the animal being abused? Does the animal look underweight? Is the animal mangy, or does it lack grooming? Does the animal have shelter? If these questions are answered to where the animal is being abused, then the next step is to report it. Call the local law enforcement, or animal control and tell them what you are witnessing. If they agree with you that the animal is being abused, they will come and investigate, later figuring out how to help the animal. Whatever happens, do not try and rescue the pet yourself. This is illegal if you are rescuing it from an abusive home, it is also very dangerous, since the owner can come at you and attack you and then the dog. However,
Around the world, daily, animals are beaten, neglected, and struggling for survival. They are left in conditions that are unsanitary with no food or water, and they have very little hope as they live out their days. They are also left without the compassion that they deserve. Some, are rescued and found, but others, are given the chance to live a new life while learning how to be loved, while others are not so lucky. To help Ohio grow as a stronger state, we must fight for these abused animals’ rights and start giving out a punishment to the heartless owners. It is up to us to speak for the creatures who lack a voice. Recently the State of Ohio Senate failed to pass a law. Known as the Goddard’s Law, to help the abused animals. As a team we
When the operator would get a call about animal abuse what do you think they would do? They would sometimes hand the information over to animal control, or they would just completely ignore it, and just let it go. Knezevich clearly said: “If there were an animal crime we would just send it over to animal control or ignore it” (1). Although animal control is the main base for helping out abused and neglected animals sometimes they would never be able to help the animal out and they would have to suffer. They should never ignore and always pay close attention to all cases they get and not just worry about certain ones.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, better known as the ASPCA is a non profit organization that focuses on preventing animal cruelty. The mission of the ASPCA is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States” (ASPCA). Animal cruelty and neglect are huge problems in the United States, therefore organizations such as the ASPCA are needed to start the process of prevention. The ASPCA website is used to to bring awareness to the issue of animal cruelty through actions such as: donations, volunteers, advocacy centers, adoptions, and fundraisers. The ASPCA website is effective in bringing awareness and preventing animal cruelty through factors including visuals,
