The Aztecs have two remarkable qualities about their culture; human sacrifice and agriculture. While both of these qualities holds an importance in their history, historians should emphasize human sacrifice more. The Aztecs human sacrifice is more notable than the Aztecs agricultural ability, because they left land unoccupied for later sacrifices, it resulted in many’s death, and even the finest were sacrificed.
As mentioned in “Territorial Acquisitions by Aztec Ruler” (Document A), warriors of the Aztecs were known for being fierce, and it shows when you look at the territories they have conquered with this force. In Document E a seventeen year old Aztec is recounting of a warrior who was sacrificed. “Many of us became attached to this living god, and a terrible sadness, comes over some of the women when, at the end of the year, he is taken to Chalco and dismembered in public view.” It wasn’t actually considered a bad thing to be sacrificed, because you were making sure that everyone that you left behind was going to see another day. The only reason others may have been sad if you were sacrificed was if they were close to you. If sacrifices weren’t as important to the Aztecs, then warrior wouldn’t be sacrificed. However, since sacrifices are so important to the Aztecs they were willing to give some of their fine warriors. As historians overview the history of the Aztecs they need to make sure to emphasize the importance of the human sacrifices that we completed by the Aztecs daily. This feature of the Aztecs is more notable because they deliberately didn’t occupy land for later sacrifices, it was the reason for many’s death, and they were willing to sacrifice warriors. It therefore must then be clear that the human sacrifices of the Aztecs must be emphasized more than the agriculture of the
