It’s Your Ship, by Capt. D. Michael Abrashoff is good read on understanding the basics of what he calls grassroots leadership he developed while a Commander in the Navy. He takes the reader through the journey of having a cutting-edge ship handed over him, while finding his own leadership lacking his expectations. While defying conventional Navy leadership tactics, Abrashoff created “a crew of confident and inspired problem-solvers eager to take the initiative and responsibility for their actions.” He ultimately succeeded in turning the USS Benfold into the “best damn ship in the Navy” in a

The Coast Guard must implement a program to capture valuable experience gained on board OPC at locations where it is most needed, directing a follow-on tour at a homeport for the Cutter class. Under this program Electronics Technicians rotating from an OPC will expect a follow on tour at a unit providing depot level support to OPC. For the first three years following delivery of Hull number one this unit will be the Maintenance Augmentation Team (MAT) at home port number one, Los Angeles, CA. After the initial three years the choices will expand to include Seattle, WA, followed by Pensacola, FL, Charleston, SC, Portsmouth, VA, and Boston, MA. Technicians need not be restricted to their current homeport; however, such a restriction would realize a cost savings to the PCS account. Opportunity for geo-stability provides an incentive for technicians to volunteer for OPC assignment, at no cost to the Government. There will be periodic cases where more technicians are rotating from an OPC than can be captured in open support billets. These cases will be addressed via triage, authorizing the Assignment Officer to issue orders for the excess personnel according to normal
Vice Admiral (VADM) William Moran, Chief of Naval Personnel, heard so much about my division, he decided to pay us a visit. I was use to Admirals visiting my spaces and being inquisitive about what we do, but there was something about VADM Moran that was different and authentic. I was ordered to meet him outside the door. I watch the parking lot and awaited his arrival, as well as his entourage. They finally arrived in a white government mini-van. As he approached, I surrendered my salute. He walked toward me very polished, with a strong presence and big warm smile. I directed him towards our cyberspace recruiting center. Instead of walking in silence he began asking about me, such as where I was from and about what ships I’ve been on.
“...on being called here to ascertain witchcraft he felt the pride of the specialist whose unique knowledge has at last been publicly called for” (Miller 1146). Hale had faith in his religion and the government, which were essentially the same thing. Hale believed wholeheartedly that he was doing the right thing. When Hale came to Salem he was proud, courageous, happy and excited. Waiting for the opportunity to help people. He didn’t want to get the devil out of people he wanted to put faith in people. Truth, kindness, faith, goodwill, hope and harmony was all that Hale wanted to bring. This is who he was, and he became something completely different. He was righteous and faithful. And then he was just sad.

Today's mariners have too little valuation for their legacy. To counter this issue, Thomas J. Cutler has arranged a background marked by our maritime legacy as A Sailor's History of the U.S. Naval force. The work is one of a kind in two vital ways. To start with, it is composed specifically instead of sequentially. This enables late history to be mixed with more removed (yet critical) occasions in ways that will strengthen the agelessness and in addition the opportuneness of the U.S. Naval force, accordingly having a more noteworthy interest to today's mariner. There are various topics being utilized the most evident are showed in sections with the subjects of "respect," "boldness," and "duty," however others fill in as helpful vehicles too;

Humanity has always maintained a strong bond between thought and action. It is through our ethical and moral beliefs that we reinforce our mentality on life. In both Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis and The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch by Phillip K. Dick, the protagonists and the story interact in a similar fashion. These novels portray many fundamental religious theories that directly mesh with human values. Characterized by their subjective actions, the main characters in these novels are motivated most strongly by the mythic dimension of the sacred, which reveals human inclination to think rationally about humanity’s past.
From falling into the icy waters of Antarctica to spending time with influential soldiers and leaders, Michael Adams had time to think about life from a different perspective and notice the importance of dedication, love, and overcoming challenges in life. The responsibilities he faced and the family he had to leave behind played key importance in his decision to join the military. At just 18 years of age, Michael broke free from the comforts of his family, home, and friends to put himself in the shoes of the U.S. Navy. He knew it was a spot only certain people could fill, but that did not stop him from doing what he knew was necessary. The now 58-year-old husband, father, and grandfather looks back on his time in the service and wishes he
