The town of Bannack was established on July 28, 1862 due to gold strike at Grasshopper creek. The city was small and put together quickly with logs, but briefly served as the capital of Montana Territory in 1864 (Bannack, Montana, 2017). Bannack was very remote and it was only connected to the rest of the world by the Montana Trail which lead to extremely high crime rates and a low population. The miners in Bannack earned $8 a day which is equivalent to a pound of chewing tobacco and a dollar as change. In 1865, the residents relocated to more productive gold sites situated along Alder Gulch.

The Tales of Bilgames are described as pre-dating Gilgamesh’s tales, a similarity in their quests can be seen between the two. Their societies are also mentioned within both stories and they dealt with Bilgames and Gilgamesh in a similar way; however, the way they deal with death and mortality is very apparent. Even though there are slight differences in the two stories, the author of Gilgamesh kept a majority of details the same. The society within Mesopotamia in both these stories is one of polytheism, worshipping multiple gods and goddesses to lead them through life.

Barabbas searches the road of faith through four different events. All three of these events include the death of one person. We could argue that Barabbas’s birth of religion come through the death of others and his own death. The first event happened when Jesus who is innocent of any crime, took place for the death sentence in place of Barabbas. Like the book narrated “That is why at first glance the man seemed to be surrounded by a dazzling light… there was something very strange about him and that he was not like anyone else“(5). Jesus’ action and difference from common beings here is the starting phase that motivated Barabbas to peruse his faith. Barabbas started to approach some of the people who consider themselves as Christians in order
Have you ever wondered about the Seven Wonders of the ancient world? If so, then Nebuchadnezzar’s Hanging Gardens of Babylon is one of the greatest wonders. Nebuchadnezzar, son of the Chaldean king Nabopolassar, reigned over Babylon 605 B.C.E.-562 B.C.E. During Nebuchadnezzar’s reign he obtained a leading power for Babylonia in the ancient Near East. Nebuchadnezzar constructed a superior Babylonia by prosperity in their trading routes, rich agricultural lands, and industries, mainly textiles and metals. Babylonia became one of the greatest cities of the world. Babylonia was known for its temples and palaces, but the most famous was the Hanging Gardens. As I studied the Hanging Gardens I asked myself three questions: what was the construction
The two essential wisdoms that stuck out from the Babbie article were: “cultures change over time” and that “society creates itself” (1990). The “cultures change over time” point was interpreted as the fact that each individual culture evolves for better or worse over time (Babbie, 1990). When reading the Babbie article the subjects of slavery and women’s rights in U.S. history immediately came to mind. Within the past 200 years the U.S. has evolved by abolishing slavery and allowing women the right to vote. These steps were in a positive direction, but there were also negative ones. There were Jim Crow laws and women not earning the same salary as men. Babbie mentioned that society should have the goal of being tolerant to other cultures
