The largest rodent in the United States is the American Beaver. These animals, called “sacred center” by Native Americans, are second only to humans in the impact or change they can have on their environment. The dams they build create habitats for many other animals. They are interesting creatures. Beavers can live up to 24 years, and they mate for life at about age 3. They build dams to stop water flow and to create a den for their families. Baby beavers are called kits, and beavers give birth once a year, to 1-4 kits at a time. The young remain with their parents until they are 2 years old, at which time they leave in search of a mate. When beavers build dams, they prefer to dam streams in shallow valleys. This will result in the valley

-Growth in beaver populations meant more dams which had multiple beneficial effects on streams and rivers. Dams slow seasonal water runoff and help to maintain a healthy water supply. The pools created by dams also created good habitats for fish. More abundance of willows made great songbird habitat.
Their skin is thick and tough. Arrows, spears, and bites from other animals can rarely pierce it. Small bullets can't even penetrate it. Not only is their skin thick and tough, it is also loose. This allows them to twist and turn to
The Point Arena mountain beaver (Aplodontia rufa nigra) is a federally listed endangered subspecies that is restricted to the small area of Point Arena, in coastal Mendocino County, California (Zielinski, et al., 2013). (See Figure 1). The Point Arena mountain beaver is a dark brown, medium-sized burrowing rodent with small ears and eyes, and long whiskers and claws (National Park Service (NPS), n.d.). The subspecies is semi-fossorial, spending most of its five to six year lifespan in underground burrows (United States Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), 2011). The burrows are typically found on moist and steep north-facing slopes or in well-drained gullies; each burrow contains separate chambers for food storage, nesting, and excrement (NPS,
One of the largest rodents is the Sciuridae family is the Woodchuck (Marmota Monax) or more commonly known as the Groundhog. It is a fairly common animal most heavily found in the north and north eastern parts of the United States and across most of Canada (Encyclopedia of Life, 2015). Most Woodchucks choose to live in a habitat of grasslands or along the edge of a forest. They tend to like a cooler climate, but during the heart of winter they will hibernate in burrows that they dig throughout the year. The Woodchuck is a incredibly interesting animal that creates elaborate burrows for homes and one of the true hibernators.
But the effects that it will have on ecosystems could be catastrophic. The lack of protection on beavers’ home could possibly lead to extinction in these animals and the dams beavers’ create slow down the river's currents and make the water more habitual for many fish species. Which resurfaces the fact that all species depend on each other to create an ecosystem. The length of the rules in Minnesota’s fishing regulations to protect the fish, in the long run, will not protect the species that help fish thrive within an ecosystem

Night after night, I sat vigil at the same nest of tiny turtles submerged in the sand. That was until one of those nights, something incredible occurred. Flipper by flipper, Luna struggled to pursue the large, glistening moon that hovered above the ocean's gentle waves. Luna is the name I had the great opportunity of bestowing on a tiny sea turtle. As my heart swelled with happiness and pride, I thought to myself: What did I do to deserve such a life altering experience?
America West recognizes that the internet can assist America West in enhancing its brand and creating communication and knowledge, but if not monitored, it can also be abused and ultimately become detrimental to the company. We have a company full of intelligent and responsible people who work hard and commit their work for the betterment of this company. Im not proposing this new internet policy because I think we have serious problems, I am suggesting we put into place a new internet policy with a goal in mind to prevent any problems in the future, either intentional or unintentional. This proposed internet policy is that internet usage assigned to an employee’s computer is solely for the purpose of conducting company business, but in the event that the employee is on break, there will be exceptions to that rule.
Pigs are unable to move in their cages. The baby pig ears, tails are cut off and their teeth are chopped off to prevent them from harming other pigs. They are castrated without any pain killer. The baby pigs are given antibiotics to promote rapid growth. Their body grows, so fast, the legs become crippled. Many pigs are ill, but are kept alive to be shipped off to slaughter to get a profit. The pigs that did not make it to slaughter are shot with a gun to prevent them from eating the farmer’s feed. Pigs are abused by beating them with a gate rod to be moved from one place to another. Most pigs arrive at the slaughter lame or dead from the crowdedness during transporting. Pigs are electrically shocked to move on the killing floor of the slaughtering
Family. That word means everything to me. My parents, both immigrants from India, were raised in relative poverty in their hometown of Bengaluru. They courageously made the decision to leave their own family behind for the sake of a better opportunity for themselves and their children. They sacrificed a lot when I was growing up, as they worked hard to establish their careers. Thankfully, my grandparents were there to help take care of me. Travelling back and forth from India, they would help around the house, cook meals, and even pick me up from school. Their presence played a huge role in my childhood. I was lucky enough to basically grow up with four parents, each of whom instilled in me values that I hold today: hard work, sacrifice, and altruism.
