This is a small sample, survey and by interviews asking four Baby Boomers and three Generation Xers. This will help establish a demographic, by ethnicity, age, gender and education attainment. Each person interviewed asked to state a belief, value, norm, and a tradition. The results are in here are the similarities and differences between the generations and cultures.
By the end of 1964, The Baby boomer generation soared to“76.4 million baby boomers in the United States. They made up almost forty percent of the nation’s population.” (A&E Television Networks, 2015). Padilla) Now retired from teaching after thirty-four years she enjoys painting art and helping those express themselves through there own artitic visions. The Gen X population projected to outnumber the Boomers in 2028 when there will be 64.6 million Gen Xers and 63.7 million Boomers. The Census Bureau projects that the Gen X population will peak at 65.8 million in 2018.” (Center)
Kori age 34 an African American from Virginia values “ family, hard work, equality and religion.” (Brown) Kori believes in “ love and respect one another as we would want to be ourselves” (Brown) A norm Kori Identified with “opening a door for a women” (Brown) Also, the traditaions Kori experieanced growing up as a young adult was “Family gatherings, and hoildays espicailly Martin Luther King Day.” (Brown)
Next, another interviewee wished to remain annoymis but her biggest belief is “ I believe in my children and husband” Despite her own personal cirumstances she values “ to keep her head up and remain positive.” It was more common for Generation Xers to experience interracial realinships and the increase of divorce rate from the baby boomer generation was ineffect in the late 70’s and early
