One of the fastest growing sports in the world is racing. Racing in general can consist of many different types such as: Drag Racing, NASCAR, Indy, Motor Cross, Truck Rally. The topic of racing that I am chose was street racing. Street racing originated from drag racing on the quarter-mile strip. The concept of drag racing is when two racers in different cars would line up at a white line, and in the middle of the two cars would be a light post, called the Christmas tree for its red, yellow and green bulbs. The tree does what a stoplight does, except backwards, it starts from red, then to yellow, then to green. As I sat in my desk browsing through my mind of topics for my I-Search paper, horses immediately came to my mind. Ever since I was a little girl I was fond of barrel racing. I always told my mom I was going to barrel race one day and well now I barrel race. I thought, “What makes barrel horses become gate sour?” I also thought, “Why do certain people label barrel racing as abusive and cruel?” These two questions I have asked myself many times, so now is the perfect time to find the true answer. That is what I set out to find.

Some people think that people do barrel racing to push their horses and look the best while doing.Some people wear spurs and they have romells or a whip to make their horse go faster but the whip hurts the horse really bad.Some people think that people do barrel racing to prove that their horse is the best and that they got the fastest horse too.

NASCAR’s newest events, Regional Hometown Races (RHR) have taken the large scale NASCAR branding strategy and localized it through regional races and rivalries. These racing events are sponsored by NASCAR and backed by the promotional strength of the brand-name sponsors. These Regional Hometown Races would regionalize the television broadcasts, begin co-branding with localized small businesses, and differentiate racing venues depending on the region.

The game Wacky Race is a game that can be used at different levels. The choice of vocabulary words will determine the level. What is great about this game is it can be played with a variety of different game boards. Ones that work great are: Candy land, Chutes and Ladders, Trouble, and Sorry, and most of the students have one or more of these at home. The only thing you really need is the vocabulary list. The words for this game may be introduced from passages from small or large reading groups, or spelling words, and also may be a list of basic vocabulary students will need to learn for their grade level. It is easy to modify this game for ELL or Special needs students. The game boards I prefer to use are Trouble and Chutes and Ladders, these seem to be the most liked among the students.
