Good morning John and Susan, it’s good to see you and Baby Steven today. After reviewing his growth chart and comparing it to the CDC growth chart, it looks like baby Steven is at the 75th percentile. A percentile that is greater than the 50th percentiles means a baby is above average (The WHO Child Growth Standards). This being said baby Steven is a little above average for his age. He is considered to be slightly overweight but it is nothing to worry about at this point. The rule of thumb is there is nothing to worry about unless a child jumps above or below two percentile lines. Now that baby Steven is coming up on his 6 month mark he should be showing some signs signaling that he is ready for solid foods. During the 0 to 3 month period
Today is my first day doing my practice observation in the Infant Room Classroom Number 3, my fears are how the infants go reaction to see me because I am new person for them that they never have seen before, how the teacher go feel to have a student in the classroom, if they will support me and cooperate with practice, and how the parents will response to see a new teacher in the classroom, I know for my teaching experience that parents are very special about the people who is round to their children.
This paper contains observations of a preschool classroom in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. The observation was conducted in a Pre-K classroom with approximately ten students present. Observations are presented with regard to dramatic play, the presence of gender roles, and themes that emerge during preschool play. Peer relationships and levels of friendship between students will also be discussed. Relationships with adults in the classroom with in terms of attachment styles and general interactions involving teachers and parents will be reviewed. Observations are also described in relation to self-control, self-regulation, aggression,
Based on her reaction it appears she has developed deferred imitation. According to Piaget, deferred imitation is defined as ¨a sequence in which and infant first perceives something that someone else does and then performs the same action a few hours or even days later¨ (Piaget 166). According to table 6.1, stage six intellectual accomplishment, involving both thinking and memory appears at around 18-24 months. Based on this information, Isabella, at 20 months of age, would be within the age range for development and therefore within the norm for her age (Piaget 162).
During my observation at the preschool here at Harper, I looked around and realized a lot of similarities and differences it has; compared to other daycare and preschool centers. The age of children in the room I observed was ages 3-5 with one lead teacher, and depending on the ratio of how many kids showed up on that day, about three or four helping teachers. The program was set up to a very open, happy and overwhelming setting. Every furniture and object in the room had a sign saying what it was, and then underneath the typed out word was the children’s way of writing what the object was. For example, a book shelf was in the corner of the room; on the book shelf was the word printed out “Book
Before receiving the Real Care Baby, I knew it took a lot of work to care for a newborn. I now know that it takes a lot more than I thought. The forty-eight hours I had the baby were frustrating, exhausting, and stressful. It’s a lot of hard work, but I’m sure if it were a real child it would totally be worth it.
The date of my observation was April 27th, 2010. It was about 9:30 in the morning when I began my study. I went to Grossmont College’s Child Development Center. The first thing I began looking for was if the child-teacher ratio was correct. The child ratio was 2 teachers to about every 8 children. The ratio was good. As I entered there was one large room that almost looked as if it could be two rooms they way it was set up. One half consisted of a large bookshelf with numerous books on it with a couch in the front of it. The other half of the room was almost like a little kitchen. It had a table with chairs around it with a sink and cabinets behind it. There were “age appropriate” toys as well as books all over the
Jackson appeared withdrawn, and was somewhat embarrassed before stating that he did not do well in school. Jackson knows that he can perform better in school. When the other children began to tease Jackson, he was ready to fight some of them. This is typical behavior for Jackson, and is also a pattern of disorganized attachment. Children with a disorganized pattern in infancy tend to show disturbed patterns of relationships, subsequently, their relationships with peers can often be characterized by a “fight or flight” pattern of alternate aggression and withdrawal. Jackson’s coping skills when upset, threatened, or embarrassed is fight, unless the person is physically bigger than him. If this is the case, Jackson uses flight to cope, and seeks his grandmother for protection and comfort.
After observing a nine month old child for this Child Observation paper, the author of this paper has taken copious notes during the session. The purpose of this paper is recognizing the biological, cognitive and psychosocial development of the child. The author of this paper identified the background history of the child, the observation made and the development process of the child.
I went to a family day care that my sister’s friend mother works at. I made sure to get permission from her and the parents of the child I observed. I arrived at the place around 12 p.m., I saw two caregivers and three children. There were two girls and one boy, one was a 1-year-old girl. The other girl was 3 and the boy was 4 years old. I observed a 4-year-old boy who is Hispanic/Latino with short black hair and light brown eyes. He has a light skin color, loose ear lobes and had casual clothes (gray shirt, blue jeans and normal sneakers). I asked the caregiver if she knew his weight and height, she said that he is 38 inches tall and weighed 32 pounds. It was my first time meeting him so I was surprised by how clam, but upbeat he was. I did get one child out of three who was anxious of me, the rest were mostly curious about me. He is bilingual, he spoke mostly English with me, but Spanish with the caregiver. He
For this assignment, I viewed the airing of Dr. Phil on Monday, June 1. In this episode, a mother brought her daughter Melanie onto the show in an effort to deal with her drug addiction issues, as well as her negative behaviors. Yet, the session spent a great deal of time focusing on the mother and her own actions and attitude. From watching the episode, it seems as if Dr. Phil practices behavioral psychology. After introducing the background of the daughter and the family life through the videos, he spent time talking with the mother, Dana, about her negative actions. He called her out on having the worst behavior towards his team, and even called out his head producer so that she could apologize to him. This is because Dr. Phil felt that
At 12 days new, little Carter Joseph was brought into my baby photographer studio. I'd met parents, Laura and Lucas, at their maternity session. It was a treat to see them with their new little boy. Born on June 29th, Carter weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces.
This week I meet up with my Nephew Omari who is currently 2 years old, going on 3 in January. We meet up at home and I sat back and just quietly witnessed the interaction between mommy and toddler. First observation of toddler is that sitting still is not in his vocabulary. He is on the go and in everything that he can get his hands on, mommy is on standby to intercept anything that could be dangerous but still lets him be. Toys litter the floor and he is not even focused on them but on what is on the nightstand (makeup, jewelry). Being that he is still little he cannot reach it (just yet) but his curiosity is in high gear and he wants them bad.
In the Houston newborn photography studio recently, we had Archer James. He was 9 days new at the time of the session. His parents welcomed him into the world on November 18, 2018. He weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and measured 21 inches at birth. The couple had been in the studio prior to this session for their maternity photos. That session was flawless and incredibly beautiful. I couldn't wait for their little guy to arrive, so I could photograph him.
The reading “Some Remarks on Infant Observation, A. Freud”, was very interesting as it was based on the observation of newborns/infants and mother and infant relationship by students who are training to be physicians and psychotherapist. The field of human development from a new born baby throughout childhood development is focused on changing the way we think about children’s mind. The core of Ana Freud’s theory is to gain solid understanding of what is normal in the newborn infant period. Through observations the students were able to understand the mental life of the baby and the exchanges of thoughts and feelings between infants and their mother.
Tykesha and I observed the CA, Brandon Davidson. He is on 5 South Oncology and Renal. He had a total of 25 patients on three hallways, which he considered a slow day. He had around thirty-three patients last week. His schedule consists of twelve hour days with two days on and two days off. The hospital recently implemented using tablets with a shoulder strap, but his was not working correctly, so he had a laptop on a desk with wheels that he used. We went to different patient's rooms, where he knocked on the door and called them by name to ask what they wanted for lunch. They had an option of tomato soup with a turkey sandwich or beef lasagna. The allergy list is on the tablet, but since he was using the laptop he had a paper that listed
