I was at my grandparents house when people came over. The entire ifamily came out and this one kid named albert brought his skateboard.I asked him if he can teach me how to ride a skateboard and he said yes. So my first lesson was how to balance on the skateboard. Albert told me where to put my feet and I stood on the skateboard. I was so scared I was going to fall and I did. He help me up and told me not to be so scared and shaky. So I tried again And I did it really well. I even leaned forward and back so once I started riding I would already know how to turn. So now I needed to learn how to balance on the skateboard with one leg and it only took a couple tries to get it down. So once I learned how to balance on the skateboard Albert told me to step on it and he pushed me.I was going so fast on the skateboard but then I remembered about my training. I started to balance and I started to turn and then I was riding a skateboard. All I had to do know was balance on one foot and kick back by other leg so I can push myself. I started to do that and I fell. …show more content…
But this time he didn't push me I pushed myself. Then I was riding a skateboard all by myself. I went on the road and back to the front yard. Then I had to leave so I said by to Albert and told him thanks for teaching my how to ride a skateboard. Once I got in the car I told my mom everything that happened today and I asked her if I can get my one skateboard and she said yes but
My mother was running to me, the first time I was seeing her run that quick. Picking me up with a panic on her face, wondering if I'm okay. I had to tell her that I was okay because I wanted to keep on skating no matter what. Even if I was a mattress to fall on I was still okay. I got back up and kept practicing over and over again until I was getting smoother turns and a steady roll without a single fall. During my wonderful skating journey, I was having a rainstorm on top of my head, water droplet's rushing down my face, skating around and around. Trying out new tricks like turns and
It was my first time going to Knotts and I was with my classmates. Felipe, David, Eric, Leo, and I decided to be in a group. David and Eric were trying to convince Felipe and I to ride Supreme Scream. We were convinced and decided to go on the ride. We never saw how tall it was and when we did Felipe looked at me and asked, “Are you still going on it?” I chickened out because of how tall it was and decided to go on different rides.
I went into the massive Rockefeller skate center. I stood at the top of the skate center bridge. I saw the ice shooting of the skates in the shimmering moonlight. I skated for a few minutes , then I got hungry. I questioned my mom if we could eat some food. Then we went to the elevator.
I was born january 1, 1999 in fort lauderdale Fl. I was always a quiet kid until I started skating when I was five it was like love at first sight. I lived in Florida for five more years then moved to nashville. For 2 years I was depressed and homesick. School in nashville wasn't that good either I would get in trouble because I would protect myself from bullies. Once I got into middle school I became less violent. I think skating really got me away from that. Then throughout all of middle school teachers didn't like me because of my underacheving mind set. I would always tell them why do I need a peice of paper to show my intellgence. During that time I would also disregard school for skating.
In Elementary School I went to an after school program at Live Oak Park. One day in the spring I saw a man unicycling around the basket ball courts at the far end of the park, I watched him for awhile until my dad came to pick me up and saw. My dad decided that it would be a good idea to go up and talk to him but since I was a nine year old I of course fiercely objected until my dad walked up to the man with me hiding several feet behind him. Withering in a state of embarrassment and shame I stood awkwardly behind as my dad had a conversation that for the life of me I can’t recall but the result of it I do. The man I referenced was most likely a middle schooler but nine year old me couldn’t tell the difference between an eleven year old and
On the way to school the next day, I decided to walk again. The kids had started to accept me as a friend, and I was becoming friends with them to. I asked my dad If they could come over, and his face was full of shock.
Skateboarding has always been an option of being a good hobby for anybody no matter what age or height because in reality it depends on how well you want to succeed with skateboarding either by being the best in the whole state or just being a good role model to kids and not dealing with drugs and all sorts plus you will still be in the streets but for a good/better ”The money for the skate park, then considered state-of-the-art, came from a donation from credit card giant MBNA, and for years, local youth and others gathered to do tricks on the steep wooden walls of its halfpipe”( Abigail Curtis 2006) cause depending on where and when you skate at. Some locations do required a few adjustment but most of the time it's not always as bad as it seems like wearing a helmet which is a bother to the person who is skating (I personality don’t enjoy helmets or equipment on me). What was the development of skateboarding? Who created it? "Considering that the early 70's were all downhill riding, slalom riding, we made boards that were almost like snow skis.( Noel Wanner 2008)What was the reason that two words got put together and made it into a great long journey or a very painful one. Cause of this great ordeal on where these parts where made every part of the skateboard has a reason for what it is built for. What kind of metal does it need so it can grind on a rail so perfect each and every different time?
That quote, from the documentary Freeling, sums up skating. Fall a lot but you get back up; learn not to give up even when the going gets rough. When you land the trick, it washes all away; you forget the bad and just remember the good of landing it. I personally can say that this life lesson has already proved very crucial in my life. Whether it is when I’m working outside in 100 degree weather, putting together my 3-inch thick eagle project binder, or going for a run. It all comes down to the mental aspect.
I told him “ yes let’s get on the floor and jam skate”. So we get out in the middle of the floor. And we start practicing, i do my standing work and do a little of ground work. I told myself “ i love these new wheels”. Then i hear the dj said “now it is time for a glow stick skate”. So the dj turn on the black lights on and turn off the others. I skate to my table with my friends Tristan and
time I finally came up with the idea to create a board with the unique shape of a fishtail.
Anticipating obstacles and thinking ahead about next steps was valuable during the skateboarder mitigation activity. As my efforts were consistently met with obstacles. After almost eleven months, through perseverance and “outside of the box” thinking and a joint effort by law enforcement, at this time, I believe I have successfully addressed the problem. To my current knowledge, skateboarders have not been onsite since the middle of November. As a metric, I continue to monitor the live CCTV fed over the weekends and will implement additional deterrents
One day i was late to school and the only option was my brothers skateboard. At the time I didn’t know how to ride a skateboard or let alone know how to do tricks on it. I ended up skating to school. I fell a couple of times but I made it to school with some scrapes and bruises. After that i skated everyday just to make sure i wouldn't fall like the last time. After a couple of weeks I got the hang of it and started doing tricks on it. Unfortunately, the first have my skateboard there so i can skate to school and not be late. Even though I fell and it may have seemed bad that I fell off the skateboard, I learned how to skate which was a ¨blessing in disguise¨. Another quote that can be related to this scenario is ¨Learn from your mistakes¨.
Three years ago when I was ten years old I was telling my mother that I wanted to take snowboarding lessons because I wanted to try something new. After that my mom had signed me and my sister for snowboarding lessons at the C.O.P [Canada Olympic Park]. Once me and my sister were at the C.O.P we went to the rentals. I did not believe how long the line was and it would be like a forty-five minute wait but luckily one of the staff members told us that if we were in the lesson then we hove to go to another room. Soon I met my group and my instructor, I was one of the oldest ones and most of them were about eight or nine years old and I had to start at the beginning levels. Once I was on my snowboard I was eager to start snowboarding for my first
As I walked up to receive my ice skates, my knees began to wobble. I asked the lady at the counter where the ice skates were, and after I slipped them on, I tried standing up, but my wobbly knees and the shoe blade at the bottom made it impossible. As soon as I put my foot on the cold, hard ice, I felt a wisp of cool air rush past my face. I saw people struggling to skate, gracefully skating and people who fell down, but then got back up. I. Was. Terrified. I tried to take a step forward, but that just made it worst. I slipped and fell. But that wasn’t the worst part, I failed to remember that you had to bring gloves. The whole time I was holding onto the wall, my hands were chilly, which made it even harder to skate, not that I knew how to. I kept on trying the whole time and eventually go the hang of it, but I wasn’t as
One summer evening in July 2008, I turned the television and happened to flip to the middle of the Disney movie Ice Princess. It wasn’t long before I felt completely hypnotized by the simultaneously elegant and powerful movements of the figure skaters on the screen. Within minutes, I was attempting to copy their moves, jumping and twirling all over the blue carpet of my living room while trying to avoid kicking my mildly terrified dog, Star, with my wildly swinging legs and flailing arms. Following that fateful night, I begged my parents to let me take up skating lessons, promising to do extra chores around the house in exchange. It was a hard won battle, but a few weeks later, I came home from my first skating lesson. My jeans were completely
